21 Oct 2008 - Montreal Day 3

A month or two back, Dave AKA Target X dug up and shared the following video:

Shortly there after I found the following Vampire:

Yes, just like there is only one Sancho, there is only one Sanjo.

The fact that he happens to be a 6 capacity Akunanse, which means he's Laibon, with Abombwe, Chimisty, Sup Animalism and Sup Fortitude made him extremely interesting. I had wanted to build a Laibon deck for a while. And the humor of taking "Sanjo!" to Montreal where Dave had first reminded me of "Sancho!"

So last night Sanjo droped the bomb in Montreal. In the first table I played at, he calls an Anarchist Uprising two turns in a row successively knocking down my Prey each round until I ended up winning the table which along with the 4 VPs, was good enough to land me at the final table.

The final table was a slow plodding affair until my grand predator ousted my predator, and Sanjo struck again. This time packing the title of "Overseers" which makes him a Magaji, Sanjo calls yet another Anarchist Uprising, simultaneously ousting my prey, my grand prey, and myself.

What made the entire deck though was when my original predator at the final table sends his War Ghoul after Sanjo. I look at him and said "You are attacking Sanjo?!" The rest of the table looked at me like I was an idiot, and started explaining that a War Ghoul has built in Rush. I then state "Are you Sancho? No, you are not Sanjo!" then from across the room, Darby joins in "Scott Baio is not Sanjo, neither is Frank Gifford Sanjo."

At least one person got the reference... oh... and I had fun shaking off the rust after not having played V:TES competitively in quite some time.

Oh... and folks liked the spiffy street fighter playmat.

Anyway... off to game some more in Montreal. I should really mention... I'm enjoying this whole "show up and play" not have to organize. It's a really nice change. :)
