27 Mar 2009 - R.I.P Jimmy... March 25, 2009

This afternoon with the sun high in the sky shining bright, the wind and snow stinging my face, I laid a friend to rest.

When I mentioned to Daria that I was going to write this eulogy she chided me. Asking me if I wrote a eulogy for Max when he died. I stated that I had, and she tsked at me disapprovingly.

On Wednesday afternoon on an icy highway I lost control, and to avoid injuring or impacting anyone else, I chose to spin out into the ditch. Due to the flooding that is currently taking place, that spin took us into the water. Once we hit the water, we flipped, and landed upside down.

Jarred and Cindy two guardian angels who helped get me to civilization. As I sat dripping all over their leather interior I took one last longing look at Jimmy, indignant with its underside exposed rear end up, as its nose was still buried in the water.

Today the word came... ``Total Loss.`` While I have walked away unscathed, if not a little poorer in the pocket... my Jimmy was not so lucky.

So I had to head down and pay my final respects. The bright light, blowing snow, and light cloud cover means that all these photos look like crap.

This is where I turn to you, my TCO readers. Many of you have traveled to one event or another in my Jimmy. I have memories of driving all over North America, but I would love to hear what you remember of your travels. Some of you have traveled to Wrestlemania. Some of you to worlds. One user I drove to their wedding, while I know of another who I helped him find his way back home.

The comments box below... if you have a memory of the Jimmy, please share it.

And for the following picture, it shows the lovely waterline where the vehicle was submerged. Keep in mind, it was upside down when submerged. Wheee!!!!

Jimmy,
I met you in Michigan. It was so sweet how you would take us each day for 7layer burritos.  I remember that crazy
escapade you took us on to "Ford Field", you got us back on track to the real Ford Field quickly.  You loudly played
some really crappy free CD we received on the walk back from Wrestlemania. There will never be another like you.

Jimmy,
I just wanted to thank you for bringing me to the single most important day in my life. As I sat in your passanger set nervous and scared you played a song that was played at my wedding. The next day you transported myself my new bride and 2 really awesome freinds to Memphis and then to Gencon. You were a great ride and I have some great memories about you my 4 wheeled friend. Thank you for all you did.

Jimmy, I personally did not know you, but since Brian has had such an intimate experience with you, you can't be a bad thing.  Maybe you'll be in the great dealership in the sky, with my skylark that brought me years of happiness.  If you see her (she's the one making the noise like a gasket is gonna blow any second now), say hi for me.  You two would make good friends, or at least hug buddies.

Don't drink the bad gas.

Yours respectfully, Niki

Jimmy,

I'm sad to hear you left us. You brought me to countless card tournaments and trips to my bus stop after league. thank you.
