Another overlooked character for everyone's enjoyment; B. Jenet2
time for another instalment of character corner with NJBrock22, today we look at another at least in my area underused character with a GREAT symbol spread. That character we are going to discuss today is **B. Jenet**. Yes the queen of the Pirates B. Jenet, and one of my favorite characters to play as in KOF06 as her style is very unique. First question everyone will probably ask is why Jenet, there are better Chaos, Death and/or Order characters out there ain't there? Well yes and no, yes some characters seem to be better just because of their support and/or secondary(dual-symboling) symbols, and some just look better but when played tend to fall apart. So why did I chose this character for everyone to take a fresh look at? Well to understand why we need to look at her character.

As you can see we have a character with a 6 hand size, which seems to be a very commonality now as I have spent a little bit of time looking at the block 3 meta prior to the release of set 12 and seen that the majority of characters are actualy 6-handers and not 7-handers like most would tend to believe, also in the current meta a 6 hand is better as it can get around certain damage pump cards that will remain nameless and have the resources Earth, Evil and Fire. She also has 27 vitality which looks to be fragile at first but it is not as bad as it looks 27 vitality VERY early on in the game, back in set 1 and 2 for those that did not play back then, was very huge especialy for a 6-hander as most characters back then that were 6 hand were 24-25 vitality, that 2 extra vitality can do a lot for most people in a game. An amazing symbol spread is the next thing we see: Chaos, Death and Order, we also have seen reciently that another character that has topped at regionals has this symbol spread that being ***Victor***, but what makes her just as good as him you ask. Let us look at her two abilitys to understand the madness that is Jenet.
Her first ability: "R: After you block an attack, add 1 card from your hand to your momentum. Your opponent discards 1 card." Now at first glance it may not look that great but when you break it down into 2 abilites it makes more sense. First half of the ability is "R: After you block an attack, add 1 card from your hand to your momentum." Effectively you can build momentum after you block your opponent's attacks, this can be especially good for Chaos and Order's momentum manipulation and Powerful keyword attacks. The good thing is you don't have to have a card in hand to trigger this effect which leads to the other half of the ability: "R: After you block an attack, your opponent discards 1 card." Since the discarding card is an entirely separate sentance, that means whether you have a card in your hand to add or not, your opponent's attack gets blocked, they pay by discarding 1 card. Another use for this ability especially with Bitter Rivals probably gonna see play after the release of set 12, is to use this ability to add any keyword ability card that you wish to keep safe to your momentum to pull back later with your other ability. Now let us move on to her second good ability.
The second ability reads as such: "F: Commit, discard X cards: Add X random cards from your momentum to your hand. X cannot be greater than your momentum" What makes this ability so good is, you are adding your own hand to your momentum with your first ability, if you remember what is in your momentum *outside of blindly adding momentum through other effects* you can discard all non-attacks from your hand to fill your hand with attacks or vice-versa if you set up the right cards in your momentum. You probably ask, but it says RANDOM, won't really matter if you made sure to only add what you would use later *usualy big attacks that you couldn't play that early anyway* and have enough cards to discard to pull your entire momentum back anyway. If nothing else this also helps a lot against Fio decks if she doesn't kill you you can just add back all your attacks or whatever you added to your momentum and run her over as she should be spent. Also consider like in the earlier ability, you can pull back cards that you hid from cards like Bitter Rivals or other hand viewing abilities and hit your opponent hard with them.
Now onto a deck for this character, when you look at her how would be the best to build her: Chaos has a lot of reversal capabilites that tie back to her Promo and to her first ability, and has good general control, Death has good hand and board control, Order has some of the best foundations in the game... while I could make a deck for each reasource that would be TOO long of a report for anyone so i'll just roll a die and decide that way... ok Chaos it is... and I will try to keep the deck in-expensive and competitive.

A 65 card deck that should do well, I apologize for the random rares I threw in there but I promised to make it somewhat competitive, and I TRIED not to put any 2 control checks in there but 125 rapids is too hard to resist, now to explain the deck first the action choice: The Anti K' is so useful both as an action and as it's foundation side. As an action you get to see if your opponent on their first or later turns gets EXACTLY what they need to check to pass a control check then quick end their turn essentially setting them back 1 turn. As a foundation if your opponent Forethoughts your check or Anti K's you on a non-block you can just blow 2 of your foundations up to make the check not end your turn, its a bet of a good tech decision, plus it's got a mid block.
Assets, I chose 2 very good assets one rare and one ultra rare that should be somewhat accessible to most people. The Cage Arena helps you to make the MOST out of your ability to block attacks, and on your turn if you chose to go off on your opponent with attacks they should have so few cards in hand, blocking won't matter to you and they're tapping their stuff to your cage to stop speed and help with blocking anyway, same goes on your reversals. Gift from a Friend might as well turn your ability into: "R: After you block an attack your opponent discards 1 card, add 1 card from your hand to your momentum, then reveal your momentum and add a block from your momentum to your hand" RIDICULOUS... yeah very good and the stats are amazing.
Attack base, I went with a solid base of good reversals to bait your opponent into blocking early and often until you eventually build momentum from them attempting to go agro on you into a BIG 125 Rapids, which should I remind people requires no control check as the floating check is equal to your momentum, hence why it is VERY good in her. Of the attack base it all looks fairly solid for most people until they see Willow Splitter, you may ask why that card until you read its static abiity: "You may commit foundations as well as momentum to help pass the control check for this attack" Read that again ladies and gentlemen, momentum decks have a good reversal now and 4H4 is not bad either. The rest of the deck is just solid reversals that should have their main purpose to bait out blocks on your opponent's turn.
Foundations, well here is where the big part of the deck is, chaos has lots of good foundations, does it not? The answer is yes it does, and now we see why the deck is gonna work fairly well. 100 years of Humiliation is in there because it can reduce an attack down to 1 damage with your ability and it combined, if nothing else 2 of these in your staging area can reduce a fatal attack down to 1 very quickly. The Bigger They are... You over extended in building and need more cards in your hand to get back your momentum with, here commit this and draw 1 card, more than likely 2 as she is only 5'5 and a with lot of "??" height characters and males running around she can abuse this card in multiples. Commitment to excellence, what is there to really say about this card that has not been said before, a 2/6 with a +1L block and gives +3 damage to almost every attack in this deck, yes its good. Destiny is a MUST against control Order and Evil to keep their control check hacking at bay, yes it can have problems with Owlface but thats what the next card i'll discuss is for. Red Lotus of the Sun, there is a reason this card is sought after, it can effectively shut down so many good cards that order has going for it, it only has 1 weakness, it dies to Ira-Spinta but it still has a very good ability of canceling Owlface, Program Malfunction, Akuma6, Chinese Boxing, and their ilk. Lillene Knights, yes this card is very good, on your opponents turn that momentum you've been stocking up on can be used to damage your opponent's hand even more by discarding it, and the action side gets to cherry pick a momentum back to your hand if you so desire. Pow Style and Return to Southtown, not much to discuss on these that hasn't been said before, any character that can run these should at least run 1 if not both of them. Trapped in a Nightmare, very good to lock down certain responses or even bait out your opponent's chesters backing and free up a slot for your other enhances and forms you can play from your staging area.
Sideboard, I chose 2 very good choices for the sideboard. First I chose Lesser of Many Evils to help with pesky responses that usualy take place durring your turn; Forethought, BRT, Akuma6, Chester's Backing, and many others even your opponent's REVERSALS, this shuts them down dead for 1 turn and lets you safely build if need be. The other one most main-deck but I chose to sideboard it as we have enough 3 difficulty foundations in the deck right now and that is Tira's Contract. This card can be ABUSED with B. Jenet in the main way of re-playing reversals from your momentum or any other card as a block with no check necessary, and it also has a very good ability that sometimes gets looked over, it STOPS chip damage(off zone blocking/partial blocking) and it also stops THROWS from dealing damage by just commiting it. Whew, that was a fun deck to build for everyone to view, I hope everyone enjoyed the ride today and I would love for everyone to come back and see the next randition of Character Corner, so for now this is Nathan "NJBrock22" Spade signing off.
