21 Mar 2007 - World Championship Interview Cheong Zhen Xiong

TCO: Thank you so much for taking the time to sit down with us today. Before we get started should I call you Zhen, Xiong, or Bear?

Dakkon: I AM NOT A BEAR!!

TCO: Right, Zhen Xiong it is. So we know you are the number one ranked player in the world, but what else should we know?

Dakkon: Background: http://www.comicimages.com/rawdeal/strategy/articles/2006-1115-1.htm
Well I qualified as the #1 Ranked Player for 2006(Last one!), and boy was it tough, with each match loss potentially booting me out of the race and fortunately I managed to edge out Mark Armitage but only by a mere 3 points.(closest ever?) Mark, I feel honoured to have competed against you in the race for #1.

TCO: We are now just two weeks before the World Championships, do you know who you are going to use?

Dakkon: I`m still deciding, Help for AB needed!(We don`t play AB in Singapore)

TCO: What decks do you feel are your biggest threat?

Dakkon: Any decks used by the other 15 participants

PSYCHO: Hey... can I have $5?

Dakkon: Sure, come and get it from me on any sat at Serene Centre, Singapore(Cheap Pops!)

TCO: If you win the World Championship, you get to make your own card. Do you have plans already for what card you’re going to make? Are you willing to share it with us?

Dakkon: No plans yet, but I like some of the other`s ideas

TCO: Has the late announcement of the formats for the worlds impacted your preparation at all?

Dakkon: Yes, when Revo was announced as 1 of the 2 formats, I had to get started analysing Revo in detail and guessing the meta(No Revo played in Singapore!), since I thought the idea of Revo format in Worlds was ridiculous and guess it wouldn`t happen.(guess not!)

TCO: Raw Deal seems to be becoming more political over the last year. Has this impacted you at all, do you see this impacting you at all?

Dakkon: I have seen all the things and arguments going around and since enough has been said, I don`t need to comment on it furthermore. Impact? Since I am on the other side of the globe, guess not. But I`m worried for Raw Deal in Singapore; it`s dying.

TCO: Just for the record, what are your feelings on Revolution?

Dakkon: No comments. Reality: The format is ok but the way it was introduced into the game, NOT. Singapore`s scene is dying because of it`s introduction.

TCO: Fair enough, people need to know... The Mark Laroche Xperience – a great party, or the greatest party?

Dakkon: No idea, guess I`ll have to experience it for myself!

TCO: Besides yourself, is there someone that you’re cheering for this year at the World Championships?

Dakkon: Rumi and Andre Segarra, since they are the only guys I know and have talked to before.

TCO: What are your plans for the future?

Dakkon: Dunno, maybe see how I can help to save Raw Deal in Singapore.

TCO: Which is better, Cake or Pie?

Dakkon: Don`t like both, but Frankie says Oreo Pie is awesome!

TCO: Will the Saints make it to the Superbowl next year?

Dakkon: Erm, what is the Superbowl?(lol)

TCO: The soapbox is yours. Are there any parting comments you’d like to share?

Dakkon: Well, I`m looking forward to a good time meeting with all the guys and hanging around, in my 1st trip to a place outside Asia(Australia is counted as part of Asia by the Football Association!) and please guide me along!(TCO guys, intro yourself to me, I want to know you all!) Final Note: Singapore is hit the worst by the impact of Revolution with so many veteran players quitting and no new players joining the game; stats have shown the drastic drop in attendance for tournaments. I hope Raw Deal does not die in Singapore since we all love the game!

TCO: Thank you for taking the time to chat with us today.

Oreo Pie FTW

Just ask the other people at the MLX party last year.
