Creed, on Diesel-Powered Sidewalk Slam, I'm pretty sure the sentence beginning with "As a maneuver" is missing an a. It should read "As a maneuver, when played after a successfully played maneuver..."

I'm really liking the sets, though. Sid's cards having a wonky F curve is interesting (seems to have a lot to do with that -5F, though) and the Choke Slam could come out of nowhere as early as your first maneuver, which I like a lot. It's a ton of fun to throw something like that at someone when they're not expecting it.

Odd and probably common sense question. I assume that master and ruler of the world doesn't hit things like piper's ability or the volley trait for the purpose of the modifying your cards or ability to play cards correct?

On Diesel Power I think "discard" is a typo.  Should be "discards" yes?

Yes to both 'typo' notes, thanks guys.  We'll get it fixed before release.  -sigh-

And yes, Master & Ruler does exactly what it says it does - prevents cards from being prevented from play by other players' effects (including Volley trait) or from being modified.  What you see is what you get.

Ok, just checking, you might want to make sure you change cards to effect then if it gets everything

I have one issue with Master and Ruler of the World.  I am unclear on what the first line of text actually means.  It says, "No other player's cards may modify any players' cards or any players' ability to play cards."

Now, you said that this affects volley?  But volley is a trait, not a card.  What exactly do you want this card to do?

By the wording, I can't modify my cards with Old School Beating, Stun the Crowd, Small Concealed Foreign Object, or my opponent's cards with Immune to Pain, Brahma Bull, or Ring Psychology:Neck.  Wouldn't it be a little too much to have it also affect, say, stuff like volley and superstar abilities?

As we've already said more than once, it doesn't affect Superstar Abilities, as they have never been considered 'card effects'.  I thought we had said this already, but the M&ROTW will say 'cards and card effects' to clarify that it isn't just 'player cards', but all card effects.

As far as asking about balance - you tell me, how much playtesting have YOU done with it so far?  Wink  I know you are fairly new here, but rest assured we've been looking at these cards for months now.  And an F:26 Mid-match Action had BETTER be strong or there's no point in packing it, lol.

That is a completely fair point, I just thought that volley was a trait, not a card effect.  The cards do look amazing, by the way, and that was the only real question that we had so that we don't run into any contradictory rulings on the matter.  Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions, and you guys are definitely doing an awesome job!

Well, pardon my snippiness (we've been without water for nearly 3 hours at my complex and its been about 100ยบ today, lol)... but we DO appreciate people pointing out the little fine points or typos.  We're often so busy looking at 'what does this card DO' and 'is this card too good/not good enough' that we're often looking part the missing 'the' or whatever, lol.

So... no worries.  We're glad to keep putting out cards that everyone can enjoy!  Smiley

As much as I hate to be a font of should be common sense questions, I know that one of the guys in our gaming group will be sure to bring this up and argue the point if I don't get a ruling out of the way. I saw that M&ROTW hits volley, but out of a attempt to prevent pointless arguements in our gaming circle how does it interact with chain?

To make this perfectly clear: Master and Ruler of the World has an extraneous word. That word is "cards". The sentence should read, "No other player may modify any player's cards or any player's ability to play cards." This will let Sid tell the Volley and Chain traits to hit the bricks, they won't be able to stop him from playing cards. Master and Ruler will let Sid reverse Chain cards without discarding.

but to be clear if he has 3 cards then he still must discard 2 right? Same with volley? Because it's not preventing him playing a reversal until he doesn't have the needed amount of cards in his hand or ringside. At which point Master&Ruler would come into effect.

It doesn't prevent the reversal but it is still modifying the ability to play cards by adding an extra cost, which I would rule triggers it anyway.

After deliberation and referring to the rulebook and OmniFAQ, I'm going to reverse the spot ruling and say that Master and Ruler has no interaction with the Chain trait. From the FAQ:

Chain (Trait)
-When you play a Chain card, your opponent may discard 2 cards. If he does, he can reverse it from his hand or Backlash deck. If he does not, it cannot be reversed from his hand or Backlash deck.

Chain sets up a "cannot be reversed" effect on the card, it is not a reversal restriction on the opponent. Letting Sid ignore it would be like letting him reverse Clutch with Break the Hold. He can't, in both cases. He will STILL tell Volley to hit the bricks, since the trait tries to restrict him into just playing Set-up Actions and maneuvers from his hand and that is clearly modifying his ability to play cards. Apologies all around for the confusion.

You can Hair Pull Austin and Big Show can Hurricanrana Spike Dudley. Gameplay balance supercedes gotchas like Backed by Eric Bischoff being played against Eric Bischoff (which actually makes a little sense if you think of it as Eric turning on his Enforcer), even though you'd have to blank Eric's Ability to pull it off since he blocks the opponent from playing stuff with "Bischoff" in the title.

So out of curiosity, what non-unique moves are not grapples that Diesel can search for? I imagine since his ability doesn't say grapple there is a power strike or something?

If anything, it's more so it doesn't give the boost to a lot of the new Unique maneuvers introduced in R4 and beyond.  Also gives him boosts to Throws if played in All Axxess.  Per your question, there are no non-unique moves that are not Grapples (or Throws) that Diesel can search for.
