Enjoy NO. Send me a post card.

I'm sure they will. Even if their chances of winning are slim, making it is a great first step.

Do you really dislike the Lions that much? Or does the fact that someone likes an NFC North team that isn't the Packers offend you that much?

The more I look at it, the more I am amazed by Flynn's performance. The Lions can't stop a back up quarterback, their playoff appearance looks to be short lived. But hey, the got some lucky breaks early in the season to help them stumble in for the first time in a long time. They have to start somewhere.

Also after Cutler and Forte went down there was pretty much two teams realistically fighting for the two wild card spots.

Dallas, Philadelphia, and Minnesota really underachieved this year. Minnesota lost 9 games by a touchdown or less. That has to be a single season record for futility. If players get healthy, the NFC should be a lot more competitive next year. Keep all of the playoff teams strong, give some draft success to the three I mentioned as well as the Seahawks and Giants and the NFC will be strong again. The only NFC team that overachieved this year was SF and they will come back down with out playing a last place schedule.

I thought people trash talk other teams? Especially rivals in your division when you just beat them???

I also don't think the Lions are really that great as a lot of people are making them out to be, they are good and getting better, but I've heard all this talk about "well we can beat the Packers if it wasn't for penalties, and our shitty secondary, and the bad refs wah wah wah" all season long. I don't like the Lions, they are dirty, and I've heard too much trash about how "good" the Lions are this season. And we just sent them to NO with a bunch of backups instead of a more winnable NY or Dallas. Lets see how "good" they really are now.

I feel sorry for Vikings (as sorry as I can for a division rival  Tongue ). But they were way way better then a 3 win team this year. Not that I thought they would be great or anything but I just can't believe they were just a 3 win team. If your not going to make the playoffs I guess at least get a better draft pick.

Well say the Packers are Philly and the Lions are the Cowboys or Giants, wouldn't you be saying pretty much the same things?

Couple their high draft position with a last place schedule and they are wild card contenders next year IF Peterson can come back from his devastating injury. Culpepper went from All-Pro to terrible after his knee injury.

I'm probably the exception, but I have friends/acquaintances that are fans of rival teams, and I do feel kinda bad when the Eagles stomp on one of them. I had a coworker who is a Cowboys fan, and each game we had a bet that the winner would get lunch courtesy of the loser. The end of the 2008-2009 season, when the Eagles beat the Cowboys 44-6, I felt bad for her and told her she didn't need to get me lunch. She still did though. I have coworkers that're Giants/Cowboys fans, and I felt bad for them too. I know, it sounds weird, but maybe it's because I don't take pro sports all that seriously.

And truth be told, if the Washington Redskins were to make it in, I'd feel good for them. Just because of how lousy an owner they've had.

EDIT: This might come from my mom's side of the family. They can't stand either the Browns or Ravens (they live near Pittsburgh), but they don't mind the Bengals all that much. Hell, they've had nothing but good things to say about the Bengals this season.

We really need to get Louis Delmas and Aaron Berry back for the New Orleans game. If we play like we did today against New Orleans they'll drop 60 on us. If our defense can play the way they have most of the year and the offense plays like this we'll be a tough out against anybody, but Green Bay and New Orleans are definitely our worst match-ups.

I'll be the first to admit that the Lions do not have their stuff together.  They are a good team getting better, and chances are they are going to get beat in the super dome.  I'm not claiming the Lions will win the super bowl THIS year.  Maybe next year?  Getting to the post season was the first step.  They need to grow up.  A good goal for next year will be to really work to keep the penalties down, especially the personal fouls.  Also signing a solid running back before next season would help a lot.  I root for lots of teams and players too.  The lions are not perfect, but they have been fun as heck to watch this year!  Many of their wins were not decisive, but that's what made the games so interesting.  I love football, and this team is playing it.

I've never met a packer fan yet that wasn't an arrogant prick when it comes to their team.  The packers are good this year, I've said it a thousand times, but they are not the only football team in the nfc.  I think the Saints can beat them, the Giants, the 49ers, and the Lions on a good day (probably next year).   Please don't piss on our parade, Jim Schwartz might throw his headset and sick Suh on your right arm.

Most of what you said is true, but it would take some serious good and bad luck for either the Giants or 49ers to beat the Packers. I think Detroit is closer than either of those two and Detroit isn't very close yet.

Damn, I was actually pulling for them too, although for a kinda selfish reason that I guess Green Bay could fulfill, but I don't like Green Bay, way too much hype for me.

Nice season Lions.  The Saints beat you, you didn't beat yourselves.  Good clean game.  Next year, work on the secondary defense and the run game, and watch out!  Thanks for taking this trip with me this year its been fun!  Go look at my first post and you'll see why I'm satisfied this year.

Go Giants today!

The biggest fix the Lions need to make is penalty reduction. This was a better season than they should have had.  They have now had early success that can lead them deeper the next couple of seasons.

That is high up the list, but I think our biggest fix needs to be tackling. How many times did we give the Saints second, third and fourth chances by missing easy tackles on guys like Thomas, Ivory and Sproles? It was getting ridiculous there is no reason some scrub player like Pierre Thomas should account for over 120 yards of offense.
