Hey all,

Still need one more team to sign up before the draft tomorrow.

If we don't get that one team before then I have two choices.
1) Punt some poor bastard to bring us down to 10
2) Delay the draft a day or two while we wait for the extra dude.

Thoughts?

I know I'm waiting for one more specific person to sign up, but he's gone mia

I'm opposed to ever punting people who want to play, unless their behavior's earned them that ejection. If we have to, it's better to delay the draft.

We can take a third option, though; if you like, I (or someone else) could register for another team, draft a roster full of nobodies, leave them all benched, label the team "Bye," and (I think) have the team locked by the commissioner. I think you have that power, at least. I'd hope every team plays every other an even number of times, so nobody gets the bye more often than someone else, but if we need to set up a dummy team, I'd gladly do that.

We may need to take that bye team option.

Also... for those of you who are really in need of Fantasy Hockey, a buddy's league is short on players. Let me know if anyone would like to join a 2nd league.

OK. I'll register a Yahoo account for the bye team now, and I'll join the league with it if you give me the go-ahead.

I hope we can get a real team, but in the next several hours? We'll see.

And just because I can never keep track of this crap, am I right with this list of who's who? I know I've got most of these down, but I want to be sure, so that I have a handle on who I'm talking to if we're throwing out trades, etc. (If people are uncomfortable with this list being here for whatever reason, tell me and I'll yank it, but I'm posting since I don't expect that to be the case.)

dilbert505 - Call Me The Bryz
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Antigoth - Bearporn
rocky_iwata - Just rocky_iwata (well, that was easy.)
gamhhh - Attitude Psychotics
edgeone - Team Punishment
do0shebag55 - 2 Sedins No Cup
Vick - Mario Lemieux's Pens
SmartAssAssassin - Ice Assassins
BigPimpin - Pimpin' Puck Bunnies
Daeva - Vince's Devils

If needed:
Bye - Betts Yandle's Eager

OK, since we're running out of time, I had to join with the bye team. (the draft order being determined in 9 minutes and all.) Antigoth, let me know if you need me to drop the bye team and I will, but failing that, we're ready to ROCK!

Damn me, I misremember the draft time. I did pretty well with auto-picks last season, so I hope I can get back from that.

Hockey isn't as much like football where a bad draft can completely kill you. It all depends on how much effort you put into watching the available players through the season.

Yeah, I did the same thing as Rocky, completely forgot the draft time while preparing for my in-laws to come over.

I don't have a clue who most of my defenders are, but I have two good centers and two good goalies, I guess that counts for something.  Like Brian said, now it's time to watch the waiver wire and keep tabs on the team.

Antigoth, I've been reading reports on other sites that Yahoo's glitched, and IR slots aren't showing up even when they're selected. I don't have any IR players to check this with, so could you have someone with an IR player (Vick, I'm looking your way) check and see if IR's working properly in our league? If not, apparently you can e-mail Yahoo customer service and they'll fix it.

I figure that the best thing to do is check in advance, so we don't get screwed when the season starts. If we can review this, please let me know and I'll find out more about the issue from the people on the Dobber Hockey forum, so we can resolve it.

Thanks for being on top of this. Not sure if anyone noticed, but I set the league to 2 IR spots per team. I figured with the injuries that I've seen in years past, where a team either has to lose, or cripple themselves by offloading their talent, I'd rather give people the opportunity to protect their picks.

Thanks guys for the heads up. I did notice that you set 2 IR slots before the draft (hence drafting Crosby), but since last night the IR slot wasn't available. I'll check again tonight when I get back home.
Look forward to a good year!

Yeah, apologies for being a jerk about updating my team in the last month or two.  I'll be a less absentee owner for the rest of the year.

Yes I am the winner!  I'd like to especially thank Giroux Tang Clan for putting up a valiant effort in the Finals and for the rest of the teams for allowing a guy whom has never played Fantasy Hockey before or even watches Hockey to win. Look forward to this next year.

I tried my best. Congrats on the win. We'll have to do this again next year, definitely.
