I just want to come up with some good movies to watch, and if they are any good or not.

I have not watched many horror movies so if anyone knows any good ones let me know.

Just some off the top of my head I've never seen

The Thing. Just saw the 82 carpenter version for the first time... Great effects for its time. Loved the ending... I want to see the new one its a prequel and not a remake!!

Fargo.
Miracle.
Old Dogs.
Friday the 13th. (the original)
2001, or 2010 for that matter.
The Descent(Part 1 is best)
Silent Hill
Nightmare on Elm Street Series
Dark Side of the Moon
Deepstar Six
Leviathan
Dark City
Monster Squad
The Last Dragon
Child's Play series
Ghoulies series
Critter series (only seen the first one)
Leprechaun series (only seen Leprechaun back to the hood)
Revenge Of the Nerds series
Porky's series
Oh and you can't go wrong with Monty Python and the Holy Grail...as well as Army of Darkness
John Carpenter's Vampires
From Dusk 'til Dawn
The Deer Hunter
Midnight Cowboy
Kramer vs. Kramer
Dragonfly
Memento
Tootsie
The Freshman

I know it's not horror, but you've never seen Pauly Shore is Dead and should change that.

See, this is tough for me, because you didn't really say what kind of movies you like.  Can you give some examples, BJS?

No problem...
Looking for old 70's tp late 90's movies... Not looking for "B" movies as most of them suck (although I have watched a few Corman movies and they were ok) I have seen most Sci-Fi and big budget movies of those eras (star wars, Indiana jones, alien series etc etc)

I am looking for obscure but good movies from that era.... maybe ones that fell through the cracks but are now cult classics. I havent seen too much horror from that era and most of the good sci fi I have seen too, but I am sure I haven't seen em all..

I like apocalyptic sci fi movies, like Mad Max and Omega man, I have seen I am legend but I have not seen Omega man. survival movies, actually scary movies not slasher movies.

As far as scary/not slasher movies go, I'd recommend "The Orphanage."  It is in Spanish with American subtitles, but I didn't find them to be a problem.

I have had no less than 6 people try to get me to watch "Boondock Saints", so I'm sure its good.

I'm sorry, my knowledge of apocalpytic movies isn't very wide.

John Carpenter's Vampires
From Dusk 'til Dawn

two very enjoyable vampire movies.

And regarding Boondock Saints - HELLS YES! That movie is a must see. Only watch Saints II - All Saints day if you're really a fan of the first one.

Here are a few movies I love, that many may not have seen...

Monster Squad
The Last Dragon
Child's Play series(exept Seed of Chucky)
Ghoulies series
Critter series
Leprechaun series
Revenge Of the Nerds series
Porky's series

There are hundreds of movies I love from the 80's....but without more info as in genre type it is hard to narrow it down...

But the Freddy series is my all time favorite horror/comedy series

Oh and you can't go wrong with Monty Python and the Holy Grail...as well as Army of Darkness

Dark Side of the Moon
Deepstar Six
Leviathan
Dark City

These are a few. Two are sci-fi... two are, well sci-fi under water! lol... I actually have a fondness for all of these movies. Dark City is just a great movie overall! The other three are more, "you have to be in the mood for" but they are a great time nonetheless!

I happen to own most of these. All enjoyable. Any Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street comes recommended! Silent Hill got bashed by the critics, but I actually really enjoyed the movie. It's not your typical horror film. It's dark, dreary, and does a tremendous job of feeling like you are in the town from the video game! Dragonfly turned some people off, but I find it to be a pretty damn good spooky flick... especially if you're watching it with a woman that scares easily! And as much as I love Dark Side of the Moon, I would pick Deepstar Six and Leviathan over it first... and Critters 1 + 2 are so much fun!  ;

By the way... not sure if you get Netflix streaming... but I'm pretty sure Dark Side of the Moon, Deepstar Six and Leviathan, as well as some of the Friday's and possibly even Silent Hill are on their for streaming!

good horror movies that are a bit fun too...

Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon (Mockumentary about an up an coming serial murderer......very very good. and great cameos too!)

The Last Lovecraft: Relic Of Cthulhu. Dark comedy/horror movie regarding a couple of normal dudes fighting against the forces of madness.

In the mouth of madness. A great Sam Neill movie, very enjoyable and lovecraftian.

Troll (good movie) Troll 2 (Legendarily bad movie. required viewing for fans of bad movies) Then see "Best Worst Movie", a documentary about Troll 2 and its effect on people.

Waxwork and Waxwork 2.

The Last Lovecraft: Relic Of Cthulhu. Dark comedy/horror movie regarding a couple of normal dudes fighting against the forces of madness.

This was painful. Just sayin'
The movie could have been so much more. I get the budget, but it turned love craft lowbrow, which is disappointing.
