So after having stayed up until 3 AM, 2:30 AM, and last night 5 AM, I have just completed my first run through of Arkham City in Hard Mode with my second playthrough on NewGame+ to follow. My initial thoughts are that this game is amazing, its Arkham Asylum but with a much bigger free-roam environment and the ability to fly/grapple across this humongous space. There's so many more side-missions, things to do other than Riddler Puzzles, I'm barely 24% through the game and I have every intention of doing 100% before Uncharted 3 comes out including a ton of medals. This game has lived up to the hype in every way.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

How much time did you sink in during your first playthrough? Do I need to play Arkham Asylum before Arkham City? I too can't wait for Uncharted 3 as well as Skyrim: Elder Scrolls 5.

First play through I sunk about 20 hours because I kept getting sidetracked with various side-missions (which as of this time of writing I'm not even half way through completing). You can probably speed through the main story in around 6-8 hours, and I played it on Hard Mode to boot.  All things considered, you don't HAVE to play Arkham Asylum beforehand, but at least you should read spoilers for Arkham Asylum if you want to jump right in to Arkham City because part of the storyline refers to things that happened in Arkham Asylum.

Depending on where, and what versions you pick up, some versions of Arkham City are including a free copy of Asylum.

If you can get your hands on a free or cheap version of Asylum, do so.

It's a fantastic game that really should be played.

just making sure it wasn't my system, but during Arkham Asylum, does the game its self go all screw like your systems about to crash during the scarecrows fear gas when the role is reversed and joker is driving the batmobile to arkham?

haven't started City yet still playing through Asylum and loving it, if this is any indication of what city is gonna be like i can't wait.

i'm in the killer croc level.

I thought this was one of the more interesting levels of Arkham Asylum. I did indeed think at first that the Arkham Asylum had a bug in it.

There is something along these lines in Arkham City, like you could tell the game developers were trying to recreate the same magic in Arkham City sans Scarecrow, and while its pretty cool, it wasn't pulled off nearly as well in Arkham City as it was in Arkham Asylum.

I honestly don't know why game developers continue to use DX11 when they don't use it in a beneficial way; I mean the only game I've seen that uses DX11 well is the Unigine Heaven Benchmark and Crysis 2, even if it was done in a half-assed way; I mean those games make good usage of the tessellation and the computational shaders available to them. I don't know why more game's can't take more advantage of DX11, even Deus Ex Human Revolution is bad in terms of DX11 usage where the only benefits you get from DX11 is tessellation (most of which is unnoticable unless used in the right situations), better DOF (if the game uses alot of it) and better shadows.

Arkham City does look interesting but it doesn't feel like my cup of tea, I am glad to know that they did fix some of the problems of Arkham Asylum and I'm also interested to know that they did make it harder, so yeah... I'll be willing to give it a try someday.
