Well, I've read two reviews so far for the new WWE video game. One gave it a 90, the other a 92! Those are the highest scores I've seen for a WWE game in awhile, especially from the guys at IGN. They've totally revamped the game, and I for one am really looking forward to it! The only thing I'm disappointed in, is that it doesn't contain Bret Hart, and his name hasn't been mentioned in the upcoming DLC for the game either!  Angry

Other than that though, I'm looking forward to it! What about you guys?

Bret Hart isn't exactly the hardest dude to create.  It's not like he has some ridiculous finisher that won't be in the game or anything.  I want it, but I'm falling way behind on my list of games I want and I don't know when I'll get around to playing it.  SVR2011 was my surprise hit of last fall, and I don't even care about watching wrestling anymore.  The new ladder mechanics made it worth it.

I've read two reviews.  The one at IGN seemed to be all 'Graphics, graphics, graphics!' which is actually the thing I care about the LEAST, lol.  I'd rather play Smackdown 2 or 4 (Here Comes the Pain?  is that 5?  I forget), than a pretty-looking game that's less entertaining.

The other review I read spoke more about the gameplay, the story modes, etc. and they weren't very pleased with it.  He talked about how he won Money In The Bank in the story mode, but never got to cash it in, then when they started a new game with the second character, the first one cashed it in (without the player being able to control it) and nothing came of it for the character he was controller.  He said the Road to Wrestlemania modes were cool, even though there were less of them, but he often had to wrestle even though in the storyline he would end up losing anyway - so what was the point of having to wrestle?  lol

It was enough that I decided against impulse buying it, at least for now.  Maybe I'll check it out later, but if they haven't really fixed some of the issues that they've had since the Smackdown (pre SvR days), why bother?

I didn't get far enough in the game for anything. basically I hate the controls, and the fact that your character is ALWAYS running until tired. half my matchs seemed to be running into some random crap cause I can't stop running

Here's the only real review you need:

Daniel Bryan kicks effing heads in.  Buy the game.

As much as I like Bryan Danielson, that's only interesting to borrow the game for a day or two.  If I'm going to BUY a full-priced retail game, I need a lot more enjoyment than that.

(Especially since my wrestling game experience is ALWAYS centered around my own character, not an existing wrestler)

The new physics engine makes it worth buying.  I generally play it multiplayer with my friends, so I haven't picked it up as none of them have either (and there's a couple games ahead of it in line that I want to buy first), but I definitely will eventually.

Um, if you haven't picked it up yet, how do you know the engine is worth it?  lol  The review I read said they still had glitches, and the poster above talked about some kind of 'always running' issue...

SVR2011 was super glitchy but I still loved it anyways.  What I do know is that since I generally play Triple Threat TLC matches the ability to interfere with move animations will make things incredibly violent and that's enough to sell the game to me.

i don't have the running issue. haven't got to play too much as skyrim is taking up most of my time. i like it so far though. almost done adjusting to the new controls.

one thing i do think is nice, when you choose a character in universe mode it keeps you as that character and automatically takes you to your next match.

Considering the number of ridiculous 'Beat these two guys in a Handicap Match' situations past WWE games presented me with, locking in a move on one guy was one of the few respites... taking that away is the opposite of a selling point for me, lol.  (But admittedly, I don't play mutiplayer, so its apples and oranges here)

I have had a few glitches here and there.  The most annoying one was when the first option for every section of Create-A-Moveset blanked, but I could still somewhat figure out what I was doing.

From the wrestling angle, the game seems to be moving a bit more towards what FirePro Wrestling games do, which essentially means timing is much more favorable to button mashing.  The grappling system of SvR has been changed quite a bit, and you lose out on some of the crunchiness, but overall, the change seems bearable right now.

From the Universe angle, I completely gutted the shows and created my own new ones through a fairly lengthy process.  This degree of customization is quite incredible, and with the ability to construct arenas and logos, you can tailor the game to fit your particular wrestling preferences.

My only complaint right now is the ugly response times for downloading custom content online.  I will say that downloading five extra wrestlers was an infuriating experience, but it was just as bad for SvR '11, so I was half-expecting it.

I got the game yesterday in the post been playing it almost non stop since then....
a few things to highlight, Overall it's an interesting choice they have made to remake it from the ground up almost.... the new predator thing isn't as great as they have made out
and road to isn't really like a wrestling game, you start a match they set a target you do said target, cut scene, next match, wash, repeat...
create a finisher is still a little smoother FINALLY, and the new moves are mostly quite good...
however I have had to pay for not listening, caring or paying attention to WWE for a year, I have truly no idea who most of the new guys are, but apart from that? Yeah I give it the thumbs up (I'll try making myself/my girlfriend tonight)
also haven't had the run issue...

Here's my gripe with WWE 12:

*SPOILERS BELOW*

In Road to Wrestlemania mode, there are "rules" that are not fully explained.

Example: I'm currently in the "Rookie" or "Created Superstar" portion and I'm in a six man elimination tag match with Bryan and Mysterio. No rules are mentioned before the match starts. Bryan starts off as the legal man, but I didn't want to play as Bryan so I went to tag the created superstar. Instead, the game tags in Mysterio. Okay, let's try this again. The game tags in Bryan. The problem is, you see, that in this particular match I'm not allowed to tag in a legal member of my team...which suprises me because he's the CREATED SUPERSTAR that the game forced me to make. Frustrated, I play as Bryan and I wear down Husky Harris and slap on the Cattle Multilation and the "Breaking Point" submission meter pops up. No matter how hard or fast I tap the buttons, it won't fill up the whole way. Why, you ask? Because I'm not supposed to make him tap. The game simply will not let me, nor will it allow a three count. I'm supposed to hurt Husky until a button icons pops up over his head, then I press that and the game plays itself via cut scene.

The cut scene reveals that Bryan gets eliminated and then the game forces me to play as Mysterio, and repeats this process. THEN and ONLY then do I get to use "Jacob Cass", the created superstar. How about telling me at least a LITTLE about this instead of causing me frustration and/or confusion?

Call me crazy, but that really p*sses me off.

Also: The Sheamus story and gameplay was fun. Playing as HHH during the "Outsider" portion (whatever the hell THAT means) was SO BORING. If I wanted to see HHH squash guys on the undercard, I'd tune into Raw. WWE 12 isn't very realistic either, as it shows Hunter wrestling on Smackdown more than once a year.

Other than that, the game is fun. The walking around bits backstage, like in every other recent WWE game should just be a damn cutscene because they are SLOW and pointless, as there's ONE possible outcome. They don't even let you run backstage unless your wrestler (sorry, Superstar) is in a hurry.
