So I've been wanting two things... one, to get into making Flash games, and two, to make a good wrestling game that is less about graphics and animation, and more about storylines and events.  So it seems prudent to list a bunch of them for future reference. Care to pitch in?

*General:
Competition to be on a magazine cover/movie
Misunderstanding/run-into someone backstage
Prized possession
Stolen Finishing Move
Non-wrestling family member threatened/injured
Loser leaves (comes back under Mask/causes mayhem to get reinstated)
Mentors / Hero Worship (gone wrong?)
Specific old enemy returns
Hiring a 'broke' wrestler as lackey
Management tries to force resignation
Injured opponent - (fake injury?) - can't use Finisher
Streak - everyone wants to break it
Enemy puts up a bounty
'Old School' vs. 'New School'
Showing up at the opponent's home / work / family member, etc

With those games, you're playing the booker, running a fed.  I'm talking about playing a wrestler, but you arem't stuck in just one storyline or a series of modular storylines that are later forgotten.  You make your character, and the fed adapts around you.

Other characters would turn heel and face on occasion, especially as you progress to higher levels in the company (companies?  might be better to start off with an indy fed, work up to a regional promotion, then up to the national company)... challengers would arise, angles emerge, etc.  And its not just all about winning every match or every title.

(Graphics would be the hardest part, but it'd probably be kept simple, like NES Pro Wrestling.  But again, this is a long way off, just thinking in terms of all the different storylines/angles/plots that could be incorporated)

There's always the "bond with your partner over a goblet of blood" storyline.  

Then there's the Superman storyline, where a guy survives a ridiculous beatdown of some kind to save some face.  Yes, Cena's done this and won many MANY matches, but I'm talking also the Undertaker/Jeff Hardy storyline too.

"Old School" vs. "New School"
Misunderstanding (A team gets randomly paired together and one member accidentally hits the other and a brawl insues)
Showing up at the oppoents home. Example: Pillman Gun Incident
A friend from the past whispering in your partner/relative's ear and turning them against you, thus creating a two on one fued.
"You've lost your touch/Been around too long, prove your worth/show us you still got it" from a GM to an older Superstar

And to answer the previous question, totally kayfabe.  You are this wrestler, doing these things, being in these storylines, etc.

There could be something about a streak, so if you win too many matches without losing from the beginning, a bunch of guys want to be 'the guy' to end your streak, to the point where you're getting double-teamed and triple-teamed, heh.

Face Champion loses the title. Instead of granting rematch, Heel GM forces them down to the very bottom of the card and makes them work their way back up from scratch.

Everybody's Got a Price. (the Virgil/M$M / HBL/JBL angle.) Wrestler A falls on hard times, Wrestler B hires him and makes him do way out of character stuff. How long can he take it?

Continually retaining the title no matter what, cheating, DQ-ing yourself, ect...

Being blamed for killing an unborn child because you fell on a female manager, with no fault of your own.  (It helps if you are REALLY ugly.)

Rival companies being bought out by other companies and bringing back personalities form the past to liven things up.

Movie deals.

Being completely insubordinate to the boss and making your own rules, like drinking LOTS of beer in the ring.

I quit match with unfair over dubbed audio.

Rival company spoiling what's going to happen on your broadcast.

Injury at a house show results in a title being up for grabs.
