Good day, ladies and gentlemen.

My post has been up for a mere few hours and already there's a handful of people expressing interest in 'keeping the dream alive', as it were.  So here's the deal:  I need competent people, to fit in to different parts of this project, and at the moment those 'people' need to fit into one of three categories: Alpha Testers, Beta Testers and Technical Writers.

Alpha Testers - Those people who get the raw product at the very first stages, and work on it amongst themselves to create a sort-of test-ready product.  These people tend to be the ones who have to spend the most time theorizing, and have to be competent not just in terms of play but have to be able to visualize entire games, from start to finish, and be ready to memorize dozens if not hundreds of virtual cards.  I recognize this is a tall order, but this is at the stage of testing where the most actual theory goes in.

Beta Testers - The Alpha Testers hand off the test-ready product to these folks, who have the responsibility of getting the product ready for general consumption.  The vast majority of the theory is done at this point, and this phase mostly consists of solid playtesting, virtual cards in hand, in order to discover combos, break decks and designs, and generally test all aspects of the cards in question to catch any slips made by the Alpha Testers.  One of my biggest pet peeves are playtesters who don't actually sit down and play things out, so please don't apply for this unless you have serious intentions of sitting down with some friends and getting the game played.

Technical Writers - Rulewriters, card formatters, grammar police...these folks run simultaneously with all stages, and are responsible for taking the gibberish that my colleagues and I come up with and making sure it's formatted, properly templated, and ready for consumption by the masses.

If you are interested in one of the above positions (and I will be taking multiples of each, particularly of Beta Testers) please shoot me an application in the form of a private message on here.  It doesn't have to say much; Just tell me a bit about your experience with CCGs and Raw Deal, yourself as a person, which position you're interested in, and what you genuinely think you could bring to the project.  Let me stress that though this isn't meant to be too formal, if this is going to be a serious project we all need to take it seriously, so please no joke apps.

Oh, and submit what you think would be the best name for the new face of Raw Deal.  I'm not sure RD3 is catchy enough.

Cheers,
Bryson

Some titles in no particular order:

1. The Card  --a double meaning, CARD game, and wrestling CARD telling who's wrestling the match.

2. Smackdown!  (Probably my favorite if you can use it)

3. VRD --Virtual Raw Deal

4. Squared Circle

5. WWE Legacy

Do you need an Image producer?  It has always kind of been my hobby of mine making Good looking Raw Deal Fantasy cards.  If you'd like to know more about my work, check the download section for Secret Wars 3.  I can send you some Raw Deal I've created too.

Hey all though I have been pretty silent since the announcement of the end of Raw Deal I have decided that I miss this game a lot and would like to help with playtest/design for the future upcoming set. Some ideas I have were to follow up on Bryson's idea of superstar characteristics like "Brawler" and "High Flyer" by making cards that would require you to be a "brawler" to increase deck building strategy even more. This would require giving old superstars 1-2 of these characteristics. PM me or IM me if you want to talk future RD.

Bryson,

I have sent you a PM indicating my desires to help (sent a couple of days ago).

Do you have any idea when you will decide who gets to help out with this?  I'm not trying to rush you, but I'm excited about this and want to begin as soon as possible.

Thanks!

At the moment, as the applications are still coming in, I'd like to give it a bit for word to get out and for everyone to have a chance to apply.  Keep posted on here, an I'll get back to y'all once the applications stop coming.

Cheers,

Alright, the applications have tricked to a stop, so over the next day or two, when I have some time around work and school I'll give them the time they deserve and get some concrete details put up on the site.

Ladies and gentlemen,

My apologies for the delay.  I'm sure, under the circumstances, you can appreciate why things are operating a little slower than optimal level.

Anyways, the following are the positions being offered based on applications received.  You'll notice, particularly in regards to Beta Testers, that you may have been offered a position that you did not necessarily apply for.  Whether or not you take the position is up to you; I know some of those who I am offering Beta to expressed uncertainty as to their ability to commit time to the project.

If you don't feel like you can commit to the position being offered, please let me know and I'll take you off the list.  I appreciate your offer to help, but as it stands we couldn't accommodate everyone's wishes, so we're doing the best we can.

Note: Mr. NYRambler, I'm a bit unclear as to the plans for the rankings system at the moment, so we'll have to discuss things a bit more.  Tentatively you have the spot, but for some reason I think someone told me there's already a system in place.  We'll see.

Any questions?

Cheers,
Bryson

Rambler, what we need is for Brian to grant us access to the yahoo rankings group. Other than a Chief Rankings Coordinator, we need regional ones as well, not to mention a sanctioning body of sorts. (Judges tests, perhaps online classes on running a Raw Deal event etc.) Perhaps updated tournament floor rules as well. Anyhoo, anyone interested in helping organize the rankings and events please pm me here or hit me up on Yahoo Messenger...

Okay, it's been a week now since people were chosen to be a part of the R&D team.  Has anyone else gotten any other information?  I haven't heard anything else about this yet.  I'm anxious to start working on this and want to make sure I'm not being left out.

Updates!

Now that things are quieting down a bit on the administrative side, we're looking to get the project back on track.

Alpha Testers can expect to get access to the documents and project forums within approximately one week from today.  After that, it will probably be about two to three weeks of discussion before the Alpha team feels comfortable in handing off the documents to the Beta team, who will then be given access to the corresponding forums.

One final note: There are a number of you on the Beta list who have expressed interest in upward mobility.  Card design and theory is more interesting to some than practical application, so for those of you who want to show me your willingness to go the extra mile, we're looking for someone to do a bit of grunt work.

Basically the score is thus: We need a Beta Tester to volunteer to convert the cards from Spoiler Document to Proxy PDF form.  Needless to say, your knowledge and ability to work with PDFs is paramount for this task.  If you are willing to step up to the plate and do an amazing amount of copy-pasting, you would also get access to the forums during the Alpha phase and correspondingly be able to participate.

If you are interested in this, please send me a message on the forums.  Although I highly recommend that you don't apply unless you have the wherewithal to follow the task through to the end.  I will look very unkindly on anyone who promises to do the work, gets access to the forums, and then doesn't follow through.

Cheers,
Bryson

You'll get it towards the later days of the Beta phase.  No sense in having you guys re-do your work each time a card is changed.
