Well, I've been trying to work on my site, and well....I have a sub-menu alright? And I've been trying to get my text lined up (all text, btw...more than likely going to use an external style sheet for that instead of an internal one), and well....I can move the text up or down....but it won't move to the right for whatever reason....I have yet to figure this out....I COULD email you the page if you needed it (it's an old page though that I'm experimenting with so....). But that's up to you if you need to see the code for it...cuz....I don't know if the problem is with the coding for the internal style sheet I have for my text or if there's something else or what....

I don't have it posted anywhere yet....as I have yet to find a free Web host (I still need to get Filezilla first, but that's easy to do). Not to mention, I don't even know where to begin to find a place to post it.  ^^;;;

Something I recommend is poke around and find a free webhosting site. Then keep in mind some of the programing conventions may or may not be allowed on the free hosting site that you use.

Once you've got your host, start checking your code by uploading the page and testing it.

I've found something that you code and load locally works spiffy, but once you turn around and upload it, it gets difficult.

Personally for FTPing I use firefox and the FireFTP add on. Works like a charm, and is simply one more tab in firefox.

FireFTP? I'm not sure what FTPing is....or is that the same as what Filezilla is I'm assuming?

And yeah, I usually  just test it out by opening my page in my browser while I work on the coding....but I might take a look around and see what free webhosts there are (trying to avoid those with ads...cuz ads suck. lol)

Filezilla is an FTP client <FTP = File Transfer Protocol> that's used to move files from one system to another.

FireFTP is the same thing as filezilla just built within firefox.

Ahhhhh.....I got it now. I'll have to try out FireFTP then.

Alright, so since I have a week and a half off from college now.....I may look into these matters and see what I can do about getting at least my index up....and go from there. I'll let you know if I get the page up! Dunno if I will or not, cuz I have BLS (Burning Laziness Syndrome) for like....4 months now...but we'll see.

http://www.freehostia.com

Bar none the very BEST free hosting site out there on the interwebs. Bandwidth / File Size limitations are more than sufficient for most needs, and I've used it for at least three small company web contracts I've done in the past. Oh yea, and ad-free as well (wouldn't have it any other way).

Sweet! Alright, so a question. I've got Free Webhosting selected, and I'm looking at the Add a Web Domain part....and it says $9.45. Should I go with
Register new/Transfer, or should I go with Use a Subdomain or what?

If you want a unique name, use their domain registration. It'll be 10$ a year but you won't have something like Xenomic.FreeHostia. Com, moreso it'd be whatever unique domain you can register and use with them.

Hm.......I would love to do that, but no job=no money so....I'm out of luck for that unless I have people here that's willing to pay that $10 a year for me right now. ^^;;;;   lol (Jobs here suck too.....nothing but fast-food restaurants and stores....figures. ~_~)

Fair enough; you can always do the sub-domain thing until you have the cash for it anyways, then all you have to do is link it together (I personally have had to do that a lot of times because my clients would buy their domains off of GoDaddy...same price...).

Alright, so now it's up and running fine....still working on updating things. Note that this isn't the index page that I'm testing out (it's still the same page, but...yeah...). I'll let you look at the code and all.

Err...yeeeah. Having problems here for some reason. I got that site to work right? Yet....the other files I uploaded don't work at all so....I don't know. I didn't use any FTP to upload, so I'm wondering if that's the reason why it's not working or what?

You have to be careful with the FTP connection with the site. The instructions are a bit wonky; you have to make sure you're in the correct directory or else you'll be dropping them into a root directory that will not display your files at all.

Well, I have them in the root directory for my site....it's just not showing up (as in....the address bar shows up in yellow....which I don't think it's supposed to do....

Nope. You've just got to remember that your root (index) folder needs to have subfolders, otherwise your files are going to be nothing but wasted space.

Instead of

Root < File

you'll need to have at least one sublevel so that your files will show up. Example:

Root < Music < Files
Root < Pics < Files
Root  < Text < Files

With a simple setup like that, you now have a place to put each of your music, picture, and RTF/Word/TXT/whatever files. And they'll actually show up.

I got it. Though it's odd now....I didn't use the subfolders this time, but instead took out my index, went to where my index page would be, and got the address for my sites from there....which is wierd....considerin g that you said that.

Anyways, here it is: http://xenomic.freehostia.com/

I'll definently put them in folders though....o.o

MUGEN. Nice. Haven't seen that in some time (seeing two Shin Akumas rape stuff is funny as hell).

Yeah, in the Links section, I'll be adding links to MUGEN sites for people who play MUGEN (I somewhat do, but not as much since it likes to lag my computer bad....doesn't mean I don't have a bad roster though!).

I'm probably going to add in a link to my Photobucket for those who want to dive deeper into my UFS related stuff (all of my fan cards are there....some.....1 000-3000 cards? lulz....it's called boredom!)

And seeing 2 Shin Akumas being raped by 2 Rare Akumas is even funnier! ^^

Also, any suggestions for my site is welcomed! As you can tell, it's more of a database right now (those names in the MUGEN page and Character page will all be links when I get to them hopefully tomorrow.....and yes, those lists are pretty huge....o.O)

Xenomic, I like the site Smiley I've been getting into Mugen myself.

You've got some color issues with the links and background though. It's not easy to read. Fix that and you should be good Smiley
