Welcome to the final Revolution.  Wink

First off, a few people need thanks right away.  Major thanks to Nate Weiss and Donsae Jackson, both were great help in the design and concepts.  Thanks also to Alex Jerry, "Antigoth" Brian Mitchell, Chris Templeton, Dan Bryan, Dan Posey, "Evil" Dave Fogle, UK Commissioner Pete Bradley, and a few other people I'm no doubt forgetting due to old age, heh.

We're now ready for the open Beta Testing, where everyone can try these cards out and see what they think.  It's a LOT of ground to cover, and some major shifts in the environment along the way.  Here's some of the more common questions expected:

Q: Why aren't there more Revolution cards/superstar?
A: One, its very hard to develop, and two, there seems to be a lot more interest in All Axxess development.  Still, check out Rated RKO, the first cross-over Superstar which can be played in just about any constructed format.

Q: Some things aren't complete, like the Legends or the Enforcers!
A: Right.  Legends is partly due to being added later, that's sort of a 'work in progress'.  There's a few things left open for input, but don't be disappointed if your idea isn't chosen, even if it is a good one.

Q: The wording is off on this card!
A: Not surprising, I changed a couple terms partway through and forgot about others.  It was more important to get the structure, purpose, and effects of the cards down instead.  We can sort that out in the final stages.

Q: You're using Revolution wording, Ring, Ringside, etc.
A: Yes.  Less typing.  Not interested in adding more pointless words to cards just because that's the way it was always done.  This is also the removal of 'the card titled', and stating that reversals end the turn when all reversals, by definition, do so unless otherwise stated.

Q: What have you got against Piper and Kennedy?!
A: They inhibit fun.  But check their cards, they find new life and new structure to make them just as playable without making the environment less fun.  Not sure if Andre should be kicked in the crotch more, but between the Backstage hate (Feminine Wiles, RTC, CM Punk) and the ability counter (Ruthless Aggression TB), not sure he needs more 'nerfing' than that.

Q: Superstar X just got a LOT more powerful with this card(s)!
A: Previously Superstar X sucked, or was just not competive.  Wink

Q: Card X sure changes things a lot!
A: Yes, and?  Smiley  A big part of the key components here is to cut down on NPEs, not just the obvious decks, but the very structure of the environment.  Too many things (Pre-match disruption, 40-reversal cards as a 'standard' for decks) have made the game less fun, and doing simple things like 'playing a maneuver' has become too dangerous to try... that's silly.  It's a wrestling game, it should have.. you know, wrestling maneuvers in it.  Wink

Q: This isn't what I'm used to!
A: It's change.  Let's focus on whether the change is good for change sake, not just a return to familiarity.  Smiley

Q: But I think this should be changed.
A: Fair enough, present your thoughts.  Be prepared to be challenged on them, not because of some imagined ego or pride, but because there may be something you aren't taking into consideration.  Doesn't mean you're wrong, just means if the change is good and worthy, it will stand up to some inspection.  Smiley

Q: This card doesn't make sense.
A: Please re-read it carefully.  If you think its worded wrong, say so, but there's a ton of tricky, clever, weird ideas floating around.  It's intentional.

Q: What are the themes you posted about earlier?
A: There's two answers to that, depending on how you see it.

First, there's the 'subsets'. You'll quickly see there is a TON of stuff here, and I've considered releasing it the first big block of cards, like R4a.  Then over time, releasing 4b, 4c, and 4d.  The general idea is to have the big block with all the environment changes and Revolution cards.  4b and c are, in some order, The Monday Night Wars (NWO, Radicalz, New Age Outlaws, cards for that era of guys) and ECW (Stevie, CM Punk, environment cards).  And lastly 4d are the Legends.

But the other part of the question has to do with the themes of the cards themselves:

Tag Teams & Stables:  This has been tough because of the varied strength of teams, but Handicap Match TB should be strong enough to make a difference when played, but not game-breaking.  Stables should be a little stronger at first, but balanced by the Ringside cards.

ECW:  This might need some balance, but let's face it - swinging Chairs and Kendo Sticks is just plain fun.

nWo:  This still needs work, because every deck should not be dropping the nWo T-shirt and joining up.  It needs a downside, besides just the threat of facing those 4-5 decks or the deck who drops the Shirt before you do, where not getting the Shirt out (and thus, not being able to play your cards) is very bad.  Thoughts are welcome.

Revolution integration:  Sabu's good in Revolution, but sucks in All Axxess.  There's a concerted effort to make those decks playable, and give some of those guys an AA boost via the text 'A card in your Ring does not have the Revolution logo'.  This may take more effort, but between the Mid-match reversal and the pair of Pre-match cards (plus the ECW support for Extremists), they should be closer to competitive.

...Hopefully that gives everyone a starting point on what we're working towards, and means to get there.

To update the above information, we are now moving into Revolution 5.  A new year, a new set.  Smiley  In between, we've released the WCW Invasion as a small 'summer set' of just Superstars which both add a little something to the game - and prepare for some cards and things to come in R5.

More information is found in the "Revolution 5 Information" thread, of course, and we'll add things here to answer the important questions as time goes on.

Updating this as a starting point.  If you're wondering what happened to "Revolution 4" and such, we decided to rename the sets.  Suspecting that some people might associate 'Revolution' with the cards printed in 2007 - while Virtual sets do contain some cards, they are a small percentage, as the major support is for Classic & All Axxess play - we're changing the set names to 'Virtual'.

We don't have the time or desire to run around and change EVERY POST or EVERY TOPIC, but the important topics (text spoilers, etc) have been updated.
