Hey everyone, Here is where we can post our artworks for the back of the New Raw Deal cards so everyone can see them, We should also vote on or atleast give our opinions for them all so we can see which one would be good for us to use. Also , please when you make yours, don't use the copyrighted logo for WWE just because we could get in some trouble. Here are 2 of mine:

Let me know what you think???

Well, I don't know how well those would print, considering the text goes over the edge on both versions. And why the random skull heads? This is still a game based on wrestling/sports entertainment...

Look at my avatar.  Do you like it?  Does it suck?  anything I could add?  Just a suggestion.

I like it.

As far as gamhhh's submissions go, the random skulls are a little much and the text is gigantor. I'm also not really digging the faux WWE logo - if you want to use it, may as well use the real thing because you'll get legal flack either way. It's a close enough representation to be construed as plagarism.

Can't we just use a text without the WWE logo? Is "NEW RAW DEAL" in big-ass letters not enough?

Now THAT is bad ass... What "Revolution" card backs SHOULD have been...

But I'm with Shane-O-Mac on this one...
Can't we just use a back without "WWE" Reference? Maybe something with just

             NEW
          Raw Deal

Game engine by Mike Foley
  and Barron Vangor Toth

Points for the BVT shout-out. I would go so far as to say a dedication is in order. After all, had it not been for him, none of us would even know the other existed, let alone have something to bring us together.

For the background, if it's to be mostly solid, I'd reccomend White as the predominant color, for those of us who will end up printing them on our own printer at home (it'll save us ink!.)

Also, the .pdf files for the images themselves, if they could also be made in card groups of 9, that'd make it easier on all fronts for the self printers as well... That would also help when printing multiples of non-unique cards... Just a few thoughts...

I'll be honest here, while they are commendable efforts, the two you suggested GAMHHH are incredibly hard on the eyes. If you mute the colors/images a little bit and add a border I think they could be decent.

So far the one by The Softcore Legend is the one I would pick.

Remember: simple backs are a wonderful thing. Even if it just said NEW RAW DEAL in the RD font on a black card, it would still look fine. We have to stare at these while playing online,(and in real life for some) so they really would benifit from being simple.

I'd suggest not putting the WWE part anywhere for the back of the  card. It could simply be NRD or some variation.

At some point I imagine the game will branch out to include TNA, ROH, AAA or maybe some other established indy stars. So I don't see the need. Unless there is no plan to.

I'll throw something simple out there. If you like, keep it like this, or to save printing costs (and still get the back printed) you can even go with a black/white version (greyscale.)

http://www.rawdealplanet.com/_images/nrdcardback.jpg

Figured I'd post something simple. This was done in MS Paint, plenty of room for improvement. I no longer have the "Raw Deal" font as my hard drive crashed about a year ago, and I've been on the wife's computer ever since.

Something to possibly run with...

Okay guys, here's my first take. I just visualized a something that would be easy on the eyes, appealing, and using a predominant white background. The first thing that poped into my head was a steel cage. I found a way to make it work and keep the ink cost low and so thats what I went with.

I could take some time and work on a few small things that I see wrong with it -- however, it wouldn't be worth the time if no one liked it. So, here you are -- let me know what you think. I appreciate Feedback, suggestions, and criticism as it helps know what people like and dislike.

P.S. Yes, I avoided using the WWE logo purposefully. I also included the Mike Foley/Barron Vangor Toth credit, as it seems appropriate and worthy. RIP Barron, knowing your work still lives on.

Okay, now that I've had more than a few minutes to spare, I've altered a few of the things that I did not like about the original. However, I left the original up just to reference the changes.

Updated Backing:

Change log:
  • Changed font.
  • Fixed font coloring issue
  • Changed font shadowing.
  • Added black outline around font.

Ok, here's a repost of the one I came up with for comparison. (Also note: I opted for no border, which I believe would always be a good option (especially for saving ink for those of us who WILL be printing from home.)

One more thing: I DO have photoshop now, so next chance I get, I'll be able to get an updated version of this basic layout/design. I plan on keeping the fonts and things simple, that way even a slightly off-centered printing won't be too distinguishable from other cards while unsleeved.

The BVT and Foley text needs to be smaller.  Anybody playing the game knows its backstory, so the large text is an eye sore.
