First off, hello Team Canada Online. I've read the forums here in the past when I played Raw Deal but never posted here.

So here's a brief history of me:
I've played Raw Deal off and on since it's release and was getting into it heavily again up until the release of Revolution. Upon release, intrest in Raw Deal dropped dramatically until eventually there was no player base to play there. Since this shop was the closest to my house but still over an hour's drive -- me and my friend were pretty much forced out of the game. We fought a good fight tho, buying pre-revolution booster boxes and creating multiple decks and having tournaments with just us two. Eventually however, we gave up. The announcement that Comic Images was losing RD and the later death of Barron Vangor Toth finally broke our already battered RD spirit.

Now, onto Present Day:
On a whim, I decided to check on Raw Deal earlier this week. I had already gotten whiff of fans continuing the game in the past -- however, I was amazed when I seen the spoiler waves. Needless to say, I'm on board with New Raw Deal and anxiously awaiting a release. A few of my original skepticisms have already been addressed. such as:

A.) Physical copies of cards.
B.) Good revolution concepts (such as maneuver targets) being carried over.
C.) Keeping with the original (a completely rebuilt game with no compatibility ties bound to the old game).
D.) Accomplishing "D" while completely maintaining the feel of the original Raw Deal experience.

With that being said, there's a few questions that I still have about New Raw Deal. Forgive me if some of this has already been addressed. I haven't found much information on New Raw Deal other than the few posts in the New Raw Deal forum here on TCO. Bear with me and ease an Old Raw Deal player into New Raw Deal.

1.) How is playtesting being handled and can I expect the the old Comic Images style (i.e. Few/no banned cards)?

2.) Will the inevitable Errata/card errors be conducted via a text document or since the cards are player printed will the cards themselves be updated periodically to reflect the changes?

3.) Probably the most important question I have currently... Will there be a new rule book available noting changes in New Raw Deal? I've noticed the wording differences on cards (i.e. "Unstopable") that might confuse some old players who haven't been actively keeping up with New Raw Deal if no change list is given.

... such as myself -- However, now that I've gotten my first glimpse of it, I will be watching information on it anxiously now.

I think I'm qualified to answer these questions... Smiley  Keep in mind that I'm only talking about the game of "New Raw Deal" here, not the Revolution project - that's next door, heh.

1) Playtesting is already completed for the first set.  Online play is available through Lackey as noted elsewhere, but as I understand work is underway to put together the card images for the set.

2) The majority of the errors have already been picked out, but any necessary errata or changes to the cards can simply be done by changing the card image (and the Lackey file for online players).  Players will just print a new copy of the card with errata and toss the old ones.  However, this should not need to happen often.

3) I'm quite sure Bryson could take the important changes - most of which should be noted in the FAQ topic in the NRD section - and put them in a printable document.  If not, I can, that's right up my alley.  (Psst! Let me know if you need a hand, bro!)  That way, a page or two printed out should provide a good reference guide for any who need it.  But the few changes are minor and aren't too difficult to conceptualize.  Smiley  A credit to the design!

Any other questions?  Or clarifications?  Smiley

Yeah, I checked Lackey out. Interface was a tad confusing and there was no images yet for RD so I decided to wait. Once images are added and stuff, I'll look into it more. However, I enjoy the physical game with friends a lot more than that of their online counterparts. Always have even with Magic and Yugioh when I played.

2) The majority of the errors have already been picked out, but any necessary errata or changes to the cards can simply be done by changing the card image (and the Lackey file for online players).  Players will just print a new copy of the card with errata and toss the old ones.  However, this should not need to happen often.

Yeah, I was just double-checking to make sure. I hate syphoning through the old Errata/rulings papers for stuff that should have been placed onto the cards.

I glanced at the 1st post of the FAQ section by Byrson, but still seen cards mention terms not addressed there. Forgive me if it is further along in the FAQ, I haven't had time to read everything -- still haven't finished looking over all of the spoilers either.

Howdy, StarDuster.

Let me start by saying that I appreciate your interest, and sorry that I haven't been around for the last week or two to answer your questions.  Thankfully Creed was here to TCB!

Anyways, about a 6-8 weeks ago, we hit a bit of an administrative/legal snag that prevented us from going ahead with the physical copies, but...and I've chosen here to post this for some reason...

That's been cleared up now.

What that means is due to the kindness and diligence of some of our fine TCO members, you should start seeing physical cards come up next week, barring any other problems.

As for your questions, I'll elaborate a bit further on Creed's answers.

1) Playtesting for NRD1, as was said, has already long since been handled by a crack squad of super-soldiers.  When NRD2 goes into Alpha, there will be an opportunity offered on these boards to come playtest, provided you have the time and gumption to involve yourself in such a dreary task.

As for the ban issue, you'll probably never see us ban a card ever, especially when there's such better ways to handle those kinds of problems.

2) Re-issues will happen periodically, but hopefully they won't have to.  We've been pretty good about nailing down the errors, but stuff always slips through the cracks (just as it did during RDC testing), so I'm sure we'll have to at some point.  Luckily, at pennies a card and free distribution, this shouldn't be a problem.

3) On the day that the entire package of physical cards is released, there will be a small 'rulebook change cheat-sheet' released with it, which compiles the various rules comments strewn about the boards here.  As for a full-size FAQ for specific card interactions, we may need to turn to one at one point, but hopefully we can resolve things in a different way.  I suppose we'll see after the game gets more offline play.

Anyways, thank you for your questions.  If you have anything else you'd like to know, please don't hesitate to ask on here or contact me on one of my IMs on the left.

Cheers,
Bryson

I've actually found it easier on Lackey to play with out the actual pictures.  I played a classic raw deal game and opponent played a card not used much, dont remembe which, but it was pain in the butt trying to read the text of the card.  Found it much easier to read just the plain white background and black text

As far as the images for LackeyCCG goes, I'm working on a basic image version (card images without wrestling photos) which will leave more room for card text, as well as a fully scanned version (featuring scanned images of real cards) for those of you who prefer this version. I did get some templates for photoshop, which I will be posting soon for those of you who wish to help out. Anyway, more later!

Wow, nice. Gives me something to look forward to in the next couple of weeks. I'll have to do some research on some printing places and see where I can get the best deal for the quality I want. I'm gonna shoot for original RD quality prints (yes, card backs and all) -- never had anywhere print anything such as this for me however.

I will check out the "Printing physical copies of NRD" thread later when I have some time. What little I've read looked great tho. Roughly $60 for 600 cards is awesome if the quality is good. I'll probably have to do some selective deck printing however. Me and a friend like to get together and have a RD bracket. Pretty much, we each build 15-20 decks, put the superstar names in a hat and draw them out to make a bracket, and play til we have a winner. We did this a lot in the past, I don't see why we should stop now.

I like that idea there Star Duster. I 'm sure its going to be eaiser to do these with NRD cause we can print out as many copies of these cards as we want...That sounds like a good idea though
