**Preamble: Normally threads to buy stuff are not permitted outside of the Marketplace area. This is my site, and I'm breaking the rule because it's my damn site, and it's one of the few perks I get for running this place. Other threads of this type will be deleted. **

Recently we started playing with the Dreamcast again. The Dreamcast that I bought for various reasons did not have the 56K dial-up modem, or a broadband adaptor [BBA]. I have recently discovered that they made a broadband adaptor for the Dreamcast. Seeing as the Dreamcast has been a "dead" system for like 7+ years now, I've decided to try and hunt down a BBA for my own amusement.

<If I can obtain one, my next computer project will probably to try and figure out how to make a server for the games The Next Tetris & Ooga Booga >

If you have one, please PM me.

Good luck finding one. I tried and could not find one less than $100. Needless to say my Dreamcast is not going online any time soon.

Thanks. I'm not sure how much I want to pay for one at this point, I know that $200 on ebay to have one shipped from Japan was too much.

Goth-

I work at a used video game store, and we have tons of parts for EVERY system. If I'm not mistaken, we have at least one...if I come across it digging in the back, I'll let you know.

Yep, and here are the technical challenges:

1) I no longer have a dialup modem attached to any of my PCs. The only Dialup modem that I have currently is part of a fried motherboard.

2) I don't have any win98 boxes, and don't feel like building a win98 box (although I do have an OEM win98SE disk, with key, so it's not like I don't have the OS)

3) When I purchased my Dreamcast I purchased it used way back in 2000 without a modem.

So... while I could go and purchase all the components to build a cheap win98 box to act as a server, by the time I purchase all the parts, and build the box, it will have cost more in resources and time then buying the broadband adaptor, even if I end up buying a $200 new broadband adaptor from Japan (which I'm not going to do.)

Used DC Modem - $40-$50
Cheap Ass Win 98Box, with ethernet - $60
External USB Dialup Modem to remove the need for a voltage indicator - $50 + S&H

Also, Dialup caps out at 33k/s. Which means on a game like ooga booga that plays like many FPS games, means I'm going to get fragged by someone with a broadband connection.
