My brother built a Hardcore Brawler Orton deck that abuses his Pre-match, Sustain, and the Hardcore discard, Can you keep it Up. Builds up an enoromous handsize and is able to reverse everything. Even my Clean Hardcore Finlay couldn't take him down (well maybe he would've if I hadn't walked into that Clothesline...grrrr). Other than playing heavy discard, can anyone suggest a counter to this?

play cards that cant be reversed easily. biuld a deck that wont get hit by revo or elbow to the face. even avoid volley. stick with antics unless there multi actions. use clutch apply. germans atoms etc... from what i here in the deck no matter the handsize it should easily be beaten with proper cards. biuld somone good. finaly is not good. esp since he will never have a bigger handsize. go with good people.

Orton's a toughie, but this may help you:

In the same sense that superstar abilities and styles don't trigger Hell in a Cell, they don't trigger Orton's effect either, so your brother can't use his ability when activating Hardcore.

I'm not sure what you mean, "builds up an enormous handsize", though.  He should be breaking even or losing cards on every exchange (Discard X, remove 1, shuffle 1, your opponent puts 1 into your hand) and as he plays cards, if indeed he does, he should still be losing cards.  Not at the rate of other superstars, but he still doesn't have the draw power of Umaga or MVP.

If you're concerned about his drawing for whatever reason though, try packing a copy of 'You're Out of Control', and if you're concerned about him sitting there without playing maneuvers, try packing a copy of 'All that and nothing...do something!'  Both can be helpful for dealing with annoying decks.

Oh my...that combo seems disgusting. I have a hard time seeing how anyone but Trips could handle Orton. Why isn't Sustained Damage Unique, or at least Active?

OK, rules question. If Washington DC is played by Orton and on my turn he chooses to discard a card, does his ability also kick in?

It shouldn't--he doesn't control the card in that situation, I think.

No, it has to be a card or effect he controls that makes him discard.  Styles don't count (WoB on that) and I don't believe Washington DC counts either (unless that counts as an effect he controls on his opponent's turn, but I'm unsure of that bit.)

At the start of each player's turn, before their Draw Segment, their opponent may discard 1 card or overturn 3 cards.  If they do not, they play with their hand revealed until end of turn.

Because the discard effect is a MAY if the opponent has it in his ring it is considered an effect that Orton controls even though its his opponents.  least thats how I remember it being ruled when i had them all built lol
