Anyone got cover songs they particularly like? I'll list two here, one widely known, one not so much.

Seether - Careless Whisper
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGzKGigw1fg

This one does two things: does justice to the original and makes you feel less guilty for liking the original.

Stahlhammer - U Can't Touch This
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_Qeay8lI4w

An Austrian metal group covering MC Hammer. I'm certain that if Spinal Tap ever decided to do a rap cover, it would sound close to that.

I actually have an unhealthy obsession with cover songs.  I will probably come up with a ton that I like that I'll be posting here.

Nonpoint - In the Air Tonight

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower

Johnny Cash - Hurt

I love covers. I'll do this a little differently; rather than pick several covers I like, I'll pick one song, and post a bunch of covers of that one. One of the most covered songs I've ever heard is Baby Got Back, so I'll go with that.

Aside from the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NF9QI18-Bpo

There's a folk/pop version, by Jonathan Coulton: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TooVK8WE9Hg&feature=related

Lounge style, by Richard Cheese and Lounge Against The Machine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCv2cgIlnHA

Metal, by Throwdown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JWEgwepqUU

Also metal, but this one's Mix-A-Lot approved: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZADKvWQqo18

I can only categorize this as terrible, coming as it does from the Idol series of crimes against music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmI0GijanyM

And from the crazy files, here's the Chipmunk version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt11evVei7M

And the capper... Gilbert and Sullivan Style: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkJdEFf_Qg4

Four Year Strong recently release a full legnth cover album titled "Explains It All". Google it for a download, or listen on their Myspace by clicking on Albums on the player.

Poison had an album that came out a few years back that covered some of the classics like "We're an American Band" and "What I Like About You"...I actually think I like their versions better than the originals for the most part

Between the Buried and Me did an entire album of cover songs, called The Anatomy Of.  It was actually pretty solid, I recommend their cover of Cemetary Gates by Pantera and Kickstart My Heart by Motley Crue.  Hatebreed recently came out with a cover album as well, if I remember right.

The Punk Goes... series has some decent covers, most recently was Punk Goes Pop 2, which had a solid cover of Beautiful Girls done by Bayside.

Love Song has been covered by a ton of bands, check out the Jack Off Jill version of it to be amazed.

The Cruxshadows is a darkwave band that covered several 80's songs, including Here Comes The Rain Again.

The Punk Goes series has been completely awful except for Punk Goes Pop 1 and Punk Goes Acoustic 1.  The ones after that are completely terribly, especially Punk Goes Crunk and Punk Goes Pop 2.

The worst cover song they completely ruined the song. I am talking about the all saints they did under the bridge by Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I think nobody told these dumb broads that the song is about herione and if its not broke don't fix it. they should stick to songs in there genre. Well here for your viewing Displeasure the worlds worst cover. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DA_c1o5Y95o

Then there is the gym class heroes they did a cover too. hello its not broke don't fix it. these bands should leave it too the original band or a band that will do the song some justice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsc1zfyEHbw

The original the only good one i heard so far http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UE5NV-UoGM

to the two bands that try to do a cover song you get an epic fail award     EPIC FAIL

You forgot to include The Cardigans covers of various Black Sabbath songs.  I remember working at an fye when their first album came out and we played The Cardigans' version of Iron Man over the loudspeakers.

I listened for a minute and a half before turning it off. I have to agree that is the worst cover song that I have ever heard....

Until I head this. Metal usually doesn't transfer well to other genres of music. Maybe I just hate remixes, but I can't think of a remixed metal song that sounded better than the original.

The first time I heard Under the Bridge by All Saints, I liked it. I then found out it was a cover a Chili Peppers song and haven't listened to it since. I hate the Peppers and I hate their version of Under the Bridge too!

Anyone who likes bluegrass (or is very very bored) should check out a band called "Iron Horse".

They've covered tons of stuff, from Metallica to this:

I just thought of a few others...In Flames covered Land of Confusion, and did a better job with it than Distrubed did, IMO.  Cradle of Filth has covered a few songs, including Mr. Crowley, it's interesting.  I also like Nine Inch Nails cover of Dead Souls by Joy Division...very good, found on the soundtrack to The Crow.

There are some brilliant covers that have already been listed in this thread. Rather then giving you tube links, I think you are all strong with your Google / Torrent / Youtube Fu so I will just list some great stuff.

Under Brilliant Covers, that most of you may hate:

Luther Wright and the Wrongs - Rebuild the Wall - the entire Pink Floyd's the Wall done to Country / Blue Grass. And When I say Country - I mean OLD School Hank Williams style country.

Under great covers:

Aerosmith - Baby Please Don't Go. <My favourite version I've ever heard of the Blues Standard>
Led Zepplin - Babe, I'm gonna leave you.
System of a Down - Snowblind
10,000 Homo DJ's - Supernaut
Anthrax W/ Public Enemy - Bring the Noise
Volbeat - I'm so lonesome i could cry
Black Label Society - No More Tears

That's off the top of my head... I'm sure I'll jump in with more later. Cover songs are a guilty little pleasure of mine.
