I just want to thank everyone here at TCO for being so awesome. You guys have entertained me year after year...So I feel like I need somewhere to talk about my current life issue and hopefully get some responses and advice.

About a week and a half ago, I found out my father was dying. I drove 13 hours south to California to see him. I didn't make it on time.

My dad and I had some great memories, but he was VERY old fashioned. He never sent any b-day presents, or xmas gifts...hardly any phone calls when I was young. He saw me as his son, but didn't see the purpose of "coddling me" with gifts and well wishes.

We didn't stay in contact very much until about 3 years ago, and now I feel I've taken him for granted. My friends and family say I shouldn't feel bad because he wasn't there when I needed HIM, so I shouldn't feel guilty.

This is just so hard. It's the holiday season, thanksgiving is officially in 4 minutes, and I'm super depressed, and I don't know why.

I have a bottle of Sailor Jerry's Spiced Rum, Seagrams Seven, and mixers. WOOOOOO time to drink.

NOTE: There are trades that I HAD pending (unknown_soldier78 and whitedragon, I believe). I apologize for the delays, I just have lost my mind in the craziness that has been the last two weeks. I'll get your stuff out asap.

Keep your chin up brotha, things will get better for ya. Don't dwell on the things that you should hav done, but instead focus on making sure you do not make the same mistakes in the future. Cheers

Sorry for your loss, I remember reading some funny posts about your dad awhile ago. Remember those good times, but tHe as long as you need to grieve.

The story you posted about your dads bathroom still makes me laugh to this day.

Sorry for your loss

Hey man,

Having lost my mother this year (in August) I can feel your pain. Thankfully, my father and I have always been very close, but I know that isn't the way for a lot of guys out there.
Time heals all wounds, brotha, so as the others have said try to focus on your positive memories and if you ever have a son of your own - make every moment count with him.
