I'm definitely not an unbiased source, but I love the majority of covers by Guns N' Roses (yes, even a handful on TSI?). I would say that Human Being, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Live and Let Die, and It's Alright (from The Live Era) are all better than the originals.

I also really, really want to hear a studio version of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g09q4tPexj8

In my opinion here is another epic fail

the cover of boys in the hood.

Are you serious?  That's perhaps the best cover I've ever heard.

I'm a huge fan of New Found Glory's My Heart Will Go On

I love both of New Found Glory's cover CDs and the random ones they haven't done in the studio.  My personal favorite is probably Iris from the 2nd cover cd.

FINALLY found this on Youtube.

James Taylor covering DMX: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYwufIpCV-M&feature=channel

(It isn't really him. It's Joe Cumia, brother of Anthony Cumia of "Opie & Anthony". He does a REAL good impersonation though.)

I think Alien Ant Farm's cover of "Smooth Criminal" was superior to the original. Since that was a Michael Jackson song that is saying something.

I also love Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" it just fits for the late great legend.

Nivrana's "Man Who Sold the World" (David Bowie) & "Lake of Fire" (Meat Puppets) are masterpieces. So much so that the original artists get praise because some people think they are doing covers of Nirvana songs.

In addition to being a cover addict, I also love most acoustic versions of songs. Foo Fighers have done this to many of their songs. Korn did a famous one with Amy from Evanesence with their acoustic version of "Freak on a Leash" It got too much playtime but I still like it cause I dont listen to the radio.
