Just to sorta wrap things up, here's my final thoughts on this Super Bowl.

-With this win, Drew Brees scored one for life's underdogs. He's had to fight the odds his whole career. He wanted to play for Texas, but had to settle for Purdue despite being a top high school QB in Texas. He gets drafted by the Chargers and is eventually cast aside for Phillip Rivers. He wanted to play for the Dolphins, but they don't bother with him and he signs with the Saints. He's listed at six feet tall in the Saints' media guide, and that's being rather generous. But he just kept at it and now he's a big reason why a long-time NFL buttmonkey is celebrating their first championship.

-You gotta feel good for people in New Orleans because their fans care about football for the right reasons: they realize that it has no real impact on their lives, but that nonetheless it's an escape for them and helps them feel good. Many people in New Orleans are still struggling due to Hurricane Katrina, but the win by the Saints lets them unwind a bit and forget for a moment the struggles they've gone through.

-I agree with what one of my friends predicted about today's Super Bowl parade: "It's going to be a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah, but with beads and large quantities of alcohol. Mardi Gras will look tame compared to that."

-The image that will stick with me for this Super Bowl will be Drew Brees holding his one-year-old son after playing the game of his life and winning a championship. I think that will be the iconic image from this game that lasts forever.

-People are beating up Peyton Manning for this loss and saying this just proves that his win three years ago was a fluke. I disagree. I think first that the Saints outplayed the Colts in every aspect of the game. And as for Manning's INT, I put that more on Tracy Porter putting in hours in practice and studying tape, recognizing the play that was coming, and then making the play due to the hard work he put in. I was shocked when it happened not because I thought Manning made a bad throw, but because it looked like Porter knew it was coming. And sure enough, Porter's comments after the game confirmed my suspicions. Manning is still an all-time great, but the argument of him as the greatest of all-time just got weaker.

oN Manning: it's never a fluke win when your opponent is the Bears, well except the 1985 Bears.
Getting your team to a Superbowl and losing should never hurt one's standing in the terms of all-time greatness, it should only help. Kurt Warner is a perfect example of this. He was 1-1 before last year, just getting there wins him points, going to 1-2 didn't hurt him.

I've been a Colts fan for years. I wanted them to win, but deep down I knew it was the Saints' destiny. I still think Indy is a better team and I wil always stay true to my team! GO COLTS!

I just hope this ends the Hurricane Katrina thing. It was terrible, but it was years ago. Only a small amount of the current Saints players were even on the team when it happened. I'm just glad the Jets didn't get in or it wouldve been the Katrinas vs the 9/11s. Let's move past this on football broadcasts and focus on the sport and current factors. Let the History channel talk about Katrina now.

I just hope this ends the Hurricane Katrina thing.

If New Orleans was completely rebuilt... sure.
The devastation from Katrina hasn't healed/ been full repaired yet. Just because the media isn't running stories on it regularly, doesn't mean it's all better.

The Saints have been, and will continue to be a rallying point for the city of New Orleans. I called Jon Manuel right after the Saints won. The elation in his voice, and his awe at what was suddenly transpiring around him. Will the next one be "as meaningful"? Probably not. But it's not going to change the focus.

I totally understand that the city hasn't fully recovered and maybe never will, but the media rehashes the same story each season since the hurricane hit. The first season it was a real story, this year the Superbowl reached a new audience with the story. After this they should be done with it and find something new and compelling to talk about. It seems like the Saints themselves played 2nd fiddle to the Hurricane in this year's reporting. The Saints were the real news in 2009/2010. Hopefully next year is fresh.

1) Which would have been bigger for their respective cities.  This year for the Saints, or if the Yankees had won in 2001 against Arizona?

2) Talking to queensryche on aim, I just thought of how gold a CM Punk promo would be in the middle of Bourbon Street Cheesy

The Saints obviously, the Yankees winning a title is just another day at the office. Granted it's a good day, but it's happened a lot. The Saints used to see a 9-7 season as a huge success.

True, but again look at it from the post 9/11 viewpoint.

The best Super Bowl Ad was the Betty White one. She's really old and can still make people laugh. What was voted the best one?

it still wouldn't touch what it did for New Orleans, the Yankees were expected to be there and win. With the Saints nothing was a given. Look at all the games this year that the Saints "didn't win". The games against the Redskins and Vikings stand out the most. Both of those teams lost games that they had in the bag. For the Saints to survive those and win it all was huge in a city that hosted many a championship but never a champion before.

Ya know it still feels like a dream for me and many Saints fans. I even waited 3 hrs for the local news paper to hit( There was even some asshole who was going around trying to buy stores out so he could sell them for 5 bucks a pop.) When I got home and say the picture of Brees with the Throphy  I cried. Finally after everything that Lousiana has been through FINALLY we have a reason to smile and hold our heads up high.

The Celebration was amazing and best of all Ray( Chocolate city) Nagin got NAILED by Brees at the parade they had after they got home. Burbon street was jammed packed with people hugging, high fiving, and all Screaming WHO DAT. And Mardi Gras ended up being 2 weeks long this year lol.

History was made but more importantly a glimmer of hope was finally shown down on us here in the land of the Bayou.

Just two things. One's a question, and one's a comment.

When time ran out in the game, did it take a bit for things to settle in? Because when the Phillies won it all two years ago, after the final out, I just stared at the TV for several seconds before I realized it actually happened and THEN I flipped out.

And make sure you keep that newspaper safe. I've still got mine from the Phillies' win safe and sound. It's NEVER gonna get thrown out.

1st to D2- lol funny cause you texted me when you guys went up 10-0 and bragged. I need to check to see who won that game. Oh Yeah a Peyton did leave with the championship just not Manning  Grin

2nd to Queensryche- I went outside when there was 40 seconds left in the game and you could hear the people blowning there horns, shooting fireworks( I hope), cheering and screaming. The night couldn't have been more perfect. Funny story though when we beat the vikings the closest house to where we were watching it was about a half mile away I think. And You could hear them screaming and cheering when we won. And looking across the lake to New Orleans you could see fireworks going off... really really amazing.

As for the Paper We had 3 but my father in law come down today so I gave him a copy. So 1 to Frame and 1 to seal. Damn I just realized today and tommorow we have Saints players doing a signing at my local gaming shop.  Arghhhhhh I wish I had the money to get the one I wanna frame signed.
