SuperBowl XLIV

Sunday, February 7, 2010
At Sun Life Stadium, Miami Garden, Florida

New Orlean Saints vs. Indianapolis Colts

vs.

It's Drew Brees vs. Peyton Manning. The Saints could win their first ever SuperBowl in the franchise history, while Manning could further cement his status as the best QB ever.

Who's your pick?

As quoted by Horatio.

"This ball game could be...."

*Wearing a cool sunglasses*

"Super."

More people from my home state of Iowa are on the Colts team. Plus I hate Reggie Bush with a passion. So GO COLTS!!!!

Although I am not above seeing the Saints beat up on a QB.... but if they dont Ill just wait for the commericals Smiley

I'll take the Saints winning by 3. I'm not going to throw out a final score but if isn't in the 30's I'm sure most will be surprised somewhat.

Just wanted to make a quick comment.

I saw the commercial featuring Tim Tebow that people were complaining about. THAT got people up in arms? THAT was what was offensive to the pro-choice movement? SERIOUSLY? THAT OFFENDS THEM?Huh?

People need to grow thicker skin if that can be considered polarizing and offensive. And God knows I've seen instances over the past several days where a thicker skin would've been helpful.

Also: LOL @ the 50-year-old Brett Favre commercial. Ad of the night so far in my opinion.

That Mark Sanchez "commercial" was kind of creepy. I mean I think it was something like "I like women. Especially ones that like football." Just didn't sound right to me.

Well at least I was half right.

The Saints scored 30 points......not quite as close as it was envisioned. It's too bad the Colts couldn't keep up with them hahaha!

I decided at some point to root for the Colts. It probably had something to do with Sean Payton being a cheater back in 2000 and that dirty cheap shot defense the Saints play. That shot at Addai's ribs and some of the shots on Favre two weeks ago were ridiculous. The NFL needs to stop fining and start suspending for crap like that.

Someone's bitter. It isn't like the FIVE TURNOVERS the Vikings made in the NFC Championship game helped matters.

Either way, congrats to the Saints! I'm positive the parade will make Mardi Gras look tame!

And how many of those hits against Favre were illegal? One? If that.

Who dat say they gon' beat dem Saints?

Not the Colts. Peyton was near flawless, but the Shawn Payton made some amazing calls and the Saints pulled it out. Big onside kick, fantastic passing by Brees, and a big interception by Tracey Porter.

That one hit (which resulted in an INT) should've resulted in a flag because of how the rules are worded. But I consider it moot because the Saints didn't score any points off of it.

Not liking cheap shots makes me bitter? I didn't even decide to root for the Colts until after the game started. If a hit results in a fine or a penalty it is illegal. Joseph Addai probably has cracked ribs from the hit. NFL players take enough legal body punishment but the illegal ones could really end a career. Some Saints were even saying before the game that they were hoping to injure Manning to get Painter in the game. As dirty as that is in itself, publicly announcing it is a goal is not very classy.
There are a lot of deserving and classy Saints from Brees to Sharper, but their a-hole teammates made me root for the other team tonight.

I was indifferent to who won. I just didn't care for either team, but the more I heard of the Saints players and their contributions to New Orleans rebuilding from Katrina. I sorta jumped on their ship.

Drew Brees made me believer. He is a special man and player.

Yes, I wasn't happy about the questionable play by N.O. defense against Favre. Give them credit for doing what they had to do to get wins.

They ain't the Aints, anymore. Winning Super Bowl erases all prior debacles.

Considering that

1. Vikings fans have been NOTHING but bitter since the NFC Championship loss and
2. You're a Vikings fan

I assumed that's why you were complaining. I see numerous Vikings fans attempting to cheapen this great win by the Saints out of jealousy and bitterness. Much like how Red Sox and Cubs fans attempted to cheapen the Phillies' World Series win. So I saw your post, saw it was like those posts by other Vikings fans, and assumed you were trying to cheapen their win. If that's not where you're coming from, I apologize. But NOTHING annoys me more in sports than fans attempting to cheapen another team's victory.

Nope, I said nothing about them winning unfairly, just that I didn't want them to win and why. If my boy Jared Allen takes flagrant cheap shots, he should be suspended as well. I am bitter (still) over the 2000 Giants tapping into the Eagles and Vikings headsets in the playoffs and relaying plays and snap counts to the Giants on the field. Bottom line, a few Saints acted very unprofessionally and I didn't want their team to win because of it. It was great for guys like Mark Brunell and all of the Saints fans. I'm happy for them.

I'm pleased with the results not because I wanted the Saints to win as much as I wanted the Colts to lose.

Having spent 17 years in Kentucky (ages 4-21), I naturally detest anything from Indiana or Tennessee, and Peyton Manning fits BOTH of those. Plus I still remember being a child and seeing the Mayflower trucks on the road from Baltimore to Indy and thinking what a-holes they were for doing that.

I am very glad that Brunell got a ring, whether he was the starter or not.  That guy deserves a ton of respect and has always been a pretty classy guy as far as I know.

Please re-read my post sir. I said nothing IN SPORTS annoys me more than a fanbase attempting to cheapen another team's victory. Obviously what you described is more annoying, but that doesn't pertain to sports.

Details, details..  Tongue  Haters suck in anything though, don't let it get'cha down.

Personally, I'm glad the Saints won - first time to the big dance and all.  Smiley  And heck, Manning's already got his ring, its good to share...

Though the viewer was hoping the Colts make that last drive into the end zone for extra tension, and either N.O. gobbles up the onside kick attempt, or the Colts tie it up, force the first overtime Super Bowl, and -then- the Saints win.  heh

I think a lot of people wanted that score for the extra drama, at least this year the Saints stopped the drama instead of the refs. Cardinals vs Steelers would have been even better if the refs didn't forget to stop the clock on an out of bounds and neglect an incomplete pass that should have been reviewed. I really like the last play deciding the game circa most Patriots Superbowls, Rams vs Titans, Giants vs Bills.

Amen. In many ways this was a perfect superbowl.
