I see Miz mentoring Danielson as a set up for a potential feud between them.  Danielson will get pissed eventually of Miz's assholeish ways and challenge him for the US title and win it

I'm fairly certain that they mixed up the "Pro/Rookie" relationship of that pairing.

They already said it on ECW last night that he was the most experienced of the NXT having been wrestling around the world X years including Japan, Australia etc

Prior to being Santino Marella, he was a Russian fighter in OVW.  Bryan Danielson has been the same 'guy' (just with the name switch) for years in ROH and such.  Hell, he's even wrestled as 'Bryan Danielson' for the WWE.  Sample

Punk had a following when he first showed up on TV.  Hell, some guy in the crowd had a sign on his debut that said "I'm here to see CM Punk" (see Hometown Hero's card pic for it)  I think, especially in the northeast part of the country, he'll have a decent following right off.

Yeah, he'll have a decent following of smarks, but the crowd on the whole won't know him. He needs to have several weeks where tension builds up until he snaps, then challenges and beats Miz. We need the crowd as a whole to be behind him otherwise the reaction will be flat.

Boris Alexiev was the name of Santino's OVW gimmick and it was great. People actually bought him as a tough guy.

To be fair, CM Punk did debate in the Hammerstein Ballroom. I can't see BD having that chance. On the other hand, NXT will be like doing hour-long weekly promos for these guys, and once the first "season" is over, Danielson will have a pre-made feud with The Miz ready on Raw (or one could wish for WM26, but that's not much time).

and The Miz can teach Danielson a lot of things outside of the ring. How to be accepted into the locker room with people who will believe Danielson has a "internet ego" about himself.

but its a work. I mean really. 2 things. One, they are putting some people together whom it looks like will be friends and work together while others will butt heads (thus an auto-feud right out the gate)...Danielson/Miz looks like an auto-feud. Miz tries to teach Danielson something, danielson outshines...Miz gets pissed.

2) None of the wrestlers knew who they were with or that they were even on the show. They all found out as the graphics appeared on the tron.

Well the first episode didn't completely bomb. 2 of the 3 matches were decent. Seems interesting. We'll see where it goes from here.

Awesome debut. Clearly this show is about Bryan Danielson, but David Otunga definitely has the look and mic skills to be a success, despite a sloppy spinebuster in his match. We'll see about the rest more next week.

Danielson is definitely very Benoitish in the ring.  I think Jericho enjoyed working that match, he seemed nostaligic in the ring there lol

I wonder if some of the pairings were miss matched on purpose.  Jericho's guy should have been given to Regal, to help the european kid the better experience of transitioning to american wrestling.  Punk's kid should been with Carlito just for hair jokes.

Could anyone read what was on the arms of Danielson's robe? I know it said American on the left arm, but I couldn't make out if the right arm said Dragon or something else. I mean I don't see what else it could have said, but who knows with WWE changing things around.
