The decks are built, all that's left is to "shuffle up and deal". All three superstars will use Flair's starter, minus one card (Drawing Extra Heat). CI's starter list gave Flair 61 cards... and Flair cannot play DEH in his "natural" state. Tajiri and Hurricane are saddened by this, but they'll live.

Two sessions in this double round robin format, with the order of matchups being:

Flair vs. Tajiri
Flair vs. Hurricane
Tajiri vs. Hurricane

Results soon to come

Off topic: Botchamania = AWESOME. If these results take a little time, that's why.

SummerSlam Tournament

Session 1

Match 1: Tajiri gets off to a quick start against Ric Flair, and is able to hold off a late Flair rally to win by Countout. Flair's usual strategy of keeping his opponents Fortitude off the table went out the window on Tajiri's first turn, as he landed a series of moves to keep Flair off balance. It turned into an attrition battle after that, as Flair pulled out all the stops to make the comeback. One possible turning point was Tajiri's decision to use Battling the Voices with only eight cards left in his Arsenal, versus Flair's six. But Tajiri was able to draw a Head Butt and a Chop to the Chest to fully drain Flair's Arsenal. With only one card left in his Arsenal, and nothing playable from hand, Tajiri chose to take the Countout, and not risk the Draw. His last card: Eye Rake, which would have successfully finished the match. Oh well.

(Tajiri COR Flair, 34-26)

Match 2: Ric Flair (1-1, 7 pts) slowly wore down Hurricane, eventually defeating the caped superstar by Pinfall. Flair's first turn, landing Headlock Takedown + Now You're Going to School, set the stage for a large early lead. A quick set of Chops on his next turn (Chest + Knife + Chest + Knife + Knife, total of 12 Damage) put Hurricane in a deeper hole. The middle phase saw Hurricane's attempts to build Fortitude frustrated by well-timed reversals from Flair. A late match Chair Shot by Flair, and Hurricane's inability to maintain 7 Fortitude, spelled the end of the match. Pinfall method: Punch.

(Flair PIN Hurricane, 41-6)

Match 3: Hurricane (1-1, 3 pts) escapes the buzzsaw, defeating Tajiri (1-1, -2 pts) by Pinfall. Another fast start by Tajiri was evened out by Hurricane's moves and ability. The turning point was Hurricane landing a Chair Shot for the full 10, along with an Adrenaline Rush a couple turns later to recover a lot of reversals. One of these was an Elbow to the Face, which landed on Tajiri's Backhand Slap, ending the match. Hurricane was also waiting for a High Risk, sitting on a Brass Nuks Shot.

(Hurricane PIN Tajiri, 33-40)

Flair holds a small advantage due to his Pinfall win + Countout loss in the first round, but anything can happen...

Session 2:

Match 4: Ric Flair (2-1, 12 pts) held off a late charge by Tajiri (1-2, -5 pts) to pull off the Countout victory. While Flair did have the option of attempting a Pinfall, Tajiri had done enough damage to Flair on his last turn flurry to make any Pinfall attempt a risky proposition. Flair's beginning was very promising, as he reached 20 Fortitude within a couple of turns (Kick + Nuks + Chair Shot). He appeared to have the match well in hand upon landing a School-assisted flurry of chops (Chest + Knife, repeat twice more for 15 Damage total). Tajiri kept enough in hand and Arsenal to attempt one last comeback. Forearm Shot + Strangle Hold + Apply Illegal Damage + Knee Smash gave Tajiri 21F, but a flipped reversal (Dirtiest Player) to the Knee Smash put Tajiri in Countout danger. Flair tried once to land the Pinfall, but a reversal quickly nixed that idea. After a little thought and a look at his hand, Flair decided to take the Countout.

Tajiri did have an Adrenaline Rush and Energy Boost in his hand, making Flair's decision a little easier to accept.

(Flair COR Tajiri, 41-21)

Match 5: Hurricane (2-1, 13 pts) defeats Ric Flair (2-2, 5 pts) by Pinfall, locking up the Summerslam title. A fairly slow start for both superstars saw their Fortitudes remain close through the first few turns. A Flair move actually set up his downfall, as Hurricane's draw off the Headlock Takedown allowed him to set up a harsh combo that culminated in a Chair Shot, putting him at a Fortitude level that Flair would not be able to seriously dent for the rest of the match. Flair's lack of a hand also stopped him from pursuing his usual course of Ability use, keeping Hurricane's Fortitude on the table. After a quick 2-hit combo (Nuks + Eye Rake) dropped Flair to no Arsenal with no hand, it was just a matter of time before Hurricane hit the last move. That last move was a Head Butt.

Adding insult to Injury moment: Flair's School reversed by Hurricane's Whassupwitdat?!?!?

(Hurricane PIN Flair, 45-10)

Match 6: Tajiri (2-2, 5 pts) pulls off one of the fastest wins in these matches, beating Hurricane (2-2, 6 pts) by a Backslide reversal with nearly half of Hurricane's deck still in his Arsenal. A first turn combo of Headlock Takedown - Knee Smash - (3 small moves) put Tajiri into a commanding lead. He solidified the lead with a Strangle Hold reversal of Hurricane's attempted Clutch, and finished him off by using the Backslide on a Knife Edge Chop.

(Tajiri PIN Hurricane, 23-3)

The final results:

Hurricane: 2-2, 6 pts
Flair: 2-2, 5 pts
Tajiri: 2-2, 5 pts

If either Flair or Tajiri had beaten the other by Pinfall, they would have taken 1st with 10 points. If both Countouts had been Pinfalls, we'd be heading to an elimination triple threat.

Next up: Velocity, with the first Superstar remakes.

The lineup: The People's Champ (Rock, 1-4), The Game (HHH, 3-2), The Big Freakin' Machine (Kane, 0-5), and Rey Mysterio.

Matchups to be determined soon. It'll be a likely double round robin again, six matches for each superstar.

EDIT: Actually did a normal round robin, 3 matches for each superstar. Results in next post.

Velocity Tournament

Session 1

Match 1: The Game managed to survive an early match onslaught from Rey Mysterio, and came back to gain the Pinfall victory. The Game's first turn gave him a small lead which soon collapsed to a Mysterio High Risk onslaught. But Rey could not finish the match, and after a few touch and go turns, The Game managed to secure the Pinfall with a Fall-Away Suplex.

(Game PIN Mysterio, 58-46)

Match 2: The Big Freakin' Machine outslugged the People's Champ en route to a convincing Pinfall victory, finishing the match with a Hellfire Chokeslam. While very few maneuvers were reversed from hand, many more were reversed from their Arsenals, extending the match. Both superstars hit large maneuvers, yet because of Arsenal overturns, very few were able to complete their damage. The Hellfire Chokeslam was one of those maneuvers.

(Machine PIN Champ, 77-42)

Session 2

Match 3: Rey Mysterio (1-1, 3 pts) defeats The People's Champ (0-2, -14 pts) in a long, hard-fought match by Pinfall. This match was a classic "warfare" type match, periods of rest punctuated by quick bursts of moves and damage. Rey managed to hit enough to drain the Champ's Arsenal, then put him away with an Irish Whipped Atomic Back Body Drop. Mysterio finishes against Big Freakin Machine, while People's Champ's final match will be against The Game.

(Mysterio PIN Champ, 43-33)

Match 4: The Game (2-0, 15 pts) holds off The Big Freakin' Machine (1-1, 7 pts) to win the match by Countout. Machine's early ability-assisted flurry gave him a major advantage over The Game, but over the next several turns, both superstars kept playing red and maintaining the Fortitude curve despite a pair of Measure Him's boosting every move during this flurry. Eventually, The Game burned through Machine's reversals, and landed enough maneuvers to take a lead he'd never relinquish. With only one card left in Arsenal, and Holding Eye Rake and Abdominal Rake, The Game made the decision to not risk a reversal that could end him, and took the hard-fought Countout. Machine had an Elbow to the Face in his hand, and Game's last card would have been a Shoot Slam. Smart decision by The Game.

(Game COR Machine, 44-37)

Session 3

Match 5: The Big Freakin' Machine (2-1, 17 pts) used a fast start to work towards an eventual Pinfall victory over Rey Mysterio (1-2, -4 pts). Machine's first two moves, as usual, landed on Mysterio. But Mysterio landed an even bigger combo, including both the 619 and his Tope. Machine struck back, working towards 30 Fortitude. Once he reached the mark, a Hellfire Chokeslam drained Rey's Arsenal to nothing, with his last card being Too Fast, not giving Machine the Pinfall yet. But Rey had nothing left in the tank, and Machine was able to pick his finish within a couple turns.Machine is left hoping for a Game loss against The People's Champ, while Mysterio will finish 3rd.

(Machine PIN Mysterio, 64-37)

Match 6: The Game (3-0, 25 pts) clinches the Velocity Championship with a hard-fought Pinfall victory over The People's Champ (0-3, -21 pts). Plenty reversals in hand, plus just enough moves to wear down the Champ's Arsenal took The Game to final victory in this match. The match's key turning point came from a Play Me-assisted Fall-Away Suplex, knocking several key cards out of the Champ's Arsenal. The finishing touch came via Chair Shot, after Champ's hand had been emptied of reversals.

The Game wins the Velocity Championship, while The People's Champ finishes in last.

(Game PIN Champ, 58-25)

Final Results:

The Game: 3-0, 25 pts, Champ   (HHH: 6-2, 41 pts)
Big Freakin' Machine: 2-1, 17 pts   (Kane: 2-6, -18 pts)
Rey Mysterio: 1-2, -4 pts
The People's Champ: 0-3, -21 pts   (Rock: 1-7, -31 pts)

The Rattlesnake (Steve Austin, 5-0)
Shawn Michaels
The Crippler (Chris Benoit, 1-3)
Rhyno (Using Los Guerreros starter, minus foils and Don't Hate The Player, plus Rhyno Stampede, Rhyno's Garbage Can, The Manbeast, and a Chair Shot)

The Schedule:

Crippler vs Rhyno
Michaels vs Rattlesnake

Insurrextion Tournament

Session 1

Match 1: The Crippler put a lot of early pressure on Rhyno, and built on that pressure to eventually win the match by Pinfall. A first turn that saw Crippler deal 27 Damage from a Kick (with a Split Finger Lock boost to 8 Damage) + Knee Smash + Diving Takedown combo. From there it was only a matter of time before Rhyno succumbed to a constant offensive. Rhyno did land some hard shots of his own, including an Irish Whipped Chair Shot for a full 15 Damage, but he was never able to overcome the early match deficit. Crippler finished the match with a Rolling Headlock Vise.

(Crippler PIN Rhyno, 52-22)

Match 2: A rollercoaster match saw The Rattlesnake eke out a Countout victory over Shawn Michaels. Michaels could not take advantage of an opening turn combo of Double Underhook Back Breaker + Top Rope Elbow Drop (FTTR-boosted) + Flying Body Press for 35 Damage. Rattlesnake maintained just enough in the tank to survive a couple more moves, and his own slow start, to land a massive combo of his own a couple turns later. Running Lariat + Knee Smash X2 helped pave the way for The Rattlesnake, but he could not finish Michaels off. With only one card left in his own Arsenal, Rattlesnake decided to not risk the Double Countout, and took the victory.

(Rattlesnake PIN Michaels, 48-40)

Tonight (It's midnight Sunday here), The Rattlesnake will take on Rhyno, and The Crippler will face Shawn Michaels.

Session 2

Match 3: The Rattlesnake (2-0, 20 pts) holds off a late Rhyno (0-2, -14 pts) charge to pull off the Pinfall victory. Only interesting moment: Rhyno plays his Garbage Can and Manbeast early... then sees Rattlesnake remove both the very next turn with a Gut Punch (discard 2).

(Rattlesnake PIN Rhyno, 43-43)

Match 4: The Crippler (2-0, 20 pts) routs Shawn Michaels (0-2, -14 pts) after a pair of slow starts, easily winning the match by pinfall. Michaels suffered the "Kane fate", a hand full of high-Fortitude cards when you have no Fortitude. Or in Shawn's case, 2 Fortitude.

(Crippler PIN Michaels, 50-13)

(These matches were played a few days back, but I couldn't post results then. And once I could, I forgot to, until now. Neither match had any memorable moments, so I shortened the recaps.)

The final two matches:

Crippler vs Rattlesnake (championship)
Rhyno vs Michaels (pride)

I'm still debating the next two tournaments... right now, the Divas Overload tournament looks like:

Stacy Keibler
Torrie Wilson
Victoria (Using modified Gail & Molly starter)
*Gail and Molly* (One of two ideas: Not used at all, or I use "both", two starters, each with her own foils. )

John Cena will "move" to Vengeance to join Leader of the Edge Army, Highlight of the Night, and Your Freakin Hero.

After Vengeance, as mentioned a while back, I return to using normal starters. Once I get around to buying some, that is.

Goldie missed the SS3 boat. The earlier Divas: That's an interesting idea... but I wonder if their starters would be too mismatched against DO-era starters. Especially original Trish.

Session 3

Match 5: The Rattlesnake (3-0, 30 pts) continues Steve Austin's dominance over the rest of the Raw Deal field, defeating The

Crippler (2-1, 13 pts) by Pinfall to win the Insurrextion championship. What the final result does not say is how tense the

match became over the last few turns, and how close The Crippler was to possibly pulling off the incredible upset. A great

Rattlesnake start (Standing Drop Kick, then Irish Whip + Running Lariat + Knee Smash + Discus Punch, all dealing full damage) put The Crippler into a deep hole. Crippler would not give up, despite being generally unable to land any moves. His only successful maneuver, a Double Underhook Back Breaker, led to a Rabid Attack In The Corner + Backed By Steph to suddenly

alarm Rattlesnake. But Rattlesnake drew enough reversals to keep the Surprise Drop Kick out of play, and Crippler's ability could not recover any useful reversals for Rattlesnake's Strike base. Rattlesnake finished the match and his title run with a Standing

Drop Kick.

(Rattlesnake PIN Crippler, 42-10)

Match 6: Rhyno (1-2, -4 pts) destroys Shawn Michaels (0-3, -21 pts) by Pinfall, winning the match through a pair of painful combos and reversals galore. Michaels only "offense" in the match was an Elbow to the Face, and the only two maneuvers he was able to attempt (DUBB and Headlock Takedown) were reversed by Rhyno, with several reversals left to go through. Michaels starting hand would have made a great combo... if he would have landed the first move. Rhyno did land the first move... and a few more. Two hard-hitting combos (Standing Drop Kick + Knee Smash, then Clutch + Apply + Apply + Knee Smash) provided all the offense needed for the Manbeast to destroy Michaels Arsenal, and set up the easy Pinfall win via Abdominal Rake.

(Rhyno PIN Michaels, 41-2)

Insurrextion Final Results:

The Rattlesnake: 3-0, 30 pts (Steve Austin: 8-0, 75 pts)
The Crippler: 2-1, 13 pts (Chris Benoit: 3-4, 2 pts)
Rhyno: 1-2, -4 pts
Shawn Michaels: 0-3, -21 pts

No, this isn't dead yet. But with a recent purchase of cards, and the heavy sorting required to bring them into my existing collection, it has fallen to the sideline. I'll likely resume as I sort out the sets that match the starters.

I'm currently on the Backlash cards from Velocity... with Divas Overload as the next starter tournament, it'll be a while longer before I ramp this back up. But it will return. Just depends on how long I take to sort out my current additions (about 20000 cards in the last month), and if I pick up anymore cards (there's some fairly useful stuff on E-Bay now).

Guess what's back? (Cue Cocky by Kid Rock)

I'm in the process of constructing the qualifiers for the Divas Overload "modified starter" tournament. With five Divas participating in this tournament, I can return to a single round robin to help determine the Divas Overload Champion. In the tournament are:

Molly Holly (Replaces Look Around with Two Things, and Wake Up with Spit. Closest era-eligible replacement I could come up with in five minutes)
Stacy Keibler (With Backlash deck, a first in this enviroment.)
Gail Kim (Replace Molly-Go-Round with a second Flying Body Press.)
Victoria (Starter will be Gail + Molly [only Goldberg was equally feasible, and he has an issue with 0F maneuvers...], her "Starter Foils" will be: Stevie Interferes, Yes, I've Lost My Mind TB, and All The Things She Said.)
Torrie Wilson

Round 1

Match 1: Gail Kim beat down Molly Holly, landing pretty much anything she wanted to, and reversing almost all of Molly's maneuvers. In the end, Gail won by Pinfall with a Energy Boosted Neck Breaker.

Key Moment: Gail goes first. If Molly had gone first, this match may have gone the other way. Gail was able to both strip most of Molly's Hand (via Wake Up... and Forearm Uppercut for 0F (ability)), and still maintain a solid enough hand to stop almost any card Molly might play. After Molly's Beating The Odds was reversed (Look Around), Gail just started drawing moves and pounding an outmatched Molly into the ground. Molly never recovered.

(Gail PIN Molly, 53-15)

Match 2: Torrie Wilson survived Victoria's best shot, and slowly came back to pull off the Pinfall Victory with only one card in Arsenal, using a Modified Clutch.

Key Moment: The Boise Beauty: Shuffle back in 2 Energy Bursts and other good cards. (The rest of these were not played in this order, obviously.) Energy Burst X2: Recover eight more cards. Corkscrew DDT: 10 Damage, Torrie hit two. And drew for stun both times on seven-plus. Split Finger Lock: Used five times during the match (Bless recovery) to make 3D moves do six instead. Also, Victoria's lack of hand hurt her badly in the late match.

(Torrie PIN Victoria, 47-44)

Round 2 Matchups: Molly (0-1, -7 pts) vs Stacy (first)
                           Gail (1-0, 10 pts) vs Torrie (1-0, 10 pts)

Oops. Match results will be fixed to reflect this. I'm a little rusty, it seems.

New result: Gail COR Molly, 40-35 (as Molly's last Neck Breaker would have never been played.)

After review of my first three and a half matches, I've decided to completely restart the tournament. While I've made small errors in past matches, this tournament has already had two "illegal plays" (the second was from my last match, not posted yet) that basically decided matches, and nearly had a third just now.

The schedule will remain the same, but the matches will be replayed.

(The two posts directly above this are from a now-undocumented set of matches.)

Round 2:

Match 3: Stacy Keibler (1-0, 10 pts) stormed back from an early deficit to Pin Molly Holly (0-2, -14 pts) [ Sad ] in decisive fashion.

Key Point: Molly's decision to reverse I Know How to Use Them with Two Things. Stacy draws ten, and rolls Molly over the next couple turns. Stacy finished the match a few turns later with Diversion + 360-Degree Clothesline.

Both superstars hit pretty big moves during the match (Both hit a Flying Body Press, suprisingly), but Stacy hit more.

(Stacy PIN Molly, 55-26)

Match 4: A tough, drawn out match ends in a Countout victory for Gail Kim (2-0, 15 pts) over Torrie Wilson (1-1, 7 pts).

There was no one key point during the match, although Torrie came close on a couple occassions. But Gail's fast start, and a couple well-timed overturn reversals, kept Gail far enough ahead to pull out the victory. A highlight turn was off of a Gail oversell, hitting an empty handed Torrie with a Discus Punch, then a German Suplex for the full 18.

(Gail COR Torrie, 46-42)

Round 3 Matchups:

Stacy (1-0, 10 pts) vs. Victoria (0-1, -7 pts)
Molly (0-2, -14 pts) vs Torrie (1-1, 7 pts)

Round 3:

Match 5: (Victoria 1-1, 3 pts) survived an early Stacy Keibler (1-1, 3 pts) surge, and eventually defeated her by Pinfall via Flying Body Press.

Key Moments: Stacy's first turn: Modified Clutch, Shoot Headlock, Rolling Suplex, discard 2 for Enforcer ability, 360-Degree Clothesline (overturned reversal on 4). Stacy also hit a Diversion-aided Neck Breaker later in the match. But this all wasn't enough to put away the psychotic Diva. And when Stacy's draws ran dry... she had trouble.

Victoria struck back, after an early round of bad draws (even with her ability), with a quick build to her finisher. She hit all five of her moves for full damage, with the finishing combo coming via Face-Buster Suplex + Flying Body Press.

(Victoria PIN Stacy, 37-51)

Match 6: Torrie Wilson (1-2, 0 pts) hit the first three moves of the match. Unfortunately, Molly Holly (1-2, -4 pts) took only nine damage from those moves, and then responded with much bigger moves on her way to a Pinfall victory.

Key Moments: Torrie hit six moves in the match. Total damage: 15. Molly hit six moves in the match. Total damage: 47. Molly's first successful move, only for three (Jab), claimed both a Corkscrew DDT (which Torrie would have drawn into) and The Boise Beauty. From there, it all went downhill for Torrie. A Brass Nuks Shot (5) led into Rapid Fire Punches (7, plus overturn 1) led into Facebuster Suplex (9, reversed on 9). The next turn, Molly finished Torrie with a Tossed Between the Ropes into the Molly Go Round for the Pinfall.

(Molly PIN Torrie, 45-17)

Round 4 Matchups:

Gail (2-0, 15 pts) vs Stacy (1-1, 3 pts)
Molly (1-2, -4 pts) vs Victoria (1-1, 3 pts)

Match 7: Two moves at a time, Stacy Keibler (2-1, 13 pts) wore down and eventually beat down Gail Kim (2-1, 8 pts) by Pinfall.

Key Moments: Stacy's first turn: Discard 2 for mini-BPP ability, Spinning Clothesline for 8, Spinning Clothesline for 8, Fan Appreciation Day to get the two discards back into Arsenal. The match was mostly academic, and brutal from there. A Double Underhook Backbreaker + Flying Body Press combo really put Gail into an unrecoverable hole. Gail's few moves were easily handled, and Stacy eventually put Gail away with a Neck Breaker.

Next Matches: Stacy finishes against Torrie Wilson, while Gail matches up against Victoria for her last match.

(Stacy PIN Gail, 66-23)

Match 8: It'll be shorter to list the entire match in this report:

Molly Holly begins turn, naming Strike as the -3F beneficiary. This Diva's Got Claws, Forearm Uppercut (6), reversal overturned on 4. Victoria begins turn. Jab, reversed by Clumsy Opponent. Molly Holly begins turn, again naming Strike. Discus Punch (10), Discus Punch (10), German Suplex (9), Molly Go Round (20), Pinfall.

Yes, Molly Holly shut out Victoria. In two turns, and 6 cards. Victoria's opening hand: Jab, Boot Lace, Rapid Fire Punches, Flying Body Press, Manager Interferes, Energy Burst. She lost two Escape Moves to the Forearm Uppercut, and didn't see a Step Aside until the German Suplex.

Molly finishes 2-2, with 6 points. Victoria drops to 1-2, -4 pts, with a final match against Gail Kim.

(Molly PIN Victoria, 53-0)

Final Round Matches:

Stacy (2-1, 13) vs Torrie (1-2, 0)
Victoria (1-2, -4) vs Gail (2-1, 8 )

Final Round:

Match 9: Stacy Keibler (3-1, 23 pts) wins the Divas Championship with a Pinfall victory over Torrie Wilson (1-3, -7 pts).

Stacy's first turn set her on the road to victory, with Modified Clutch + Spinning Clothesline + I Know How To Use Them to swap to Test's Ability. Despite Stacy's Desire running into Don't Try This At Home endig her turn, that only helped further kill Torrie's hand, and any comeback hopes she may have had. Torrie did string together a few lighter moves, but Stacy's big move assault led the way, with a Garbage Can Lid giving her the Pinfall.

(Stacy PIN Torrie, 44-12)

Match 10: ...And Squash-a-Mania continues as Gail Kim (3-1, 18 pts) just crushes Victoria (1-3, -11 pts), easily delivering a Pinfall victory to finish the tournament. The first turn again set the stage, with the following combo utterly destroying Victoria's victory chances: Wake Up, Shoot Punch, Spinning Crescent Kick, Flying Body Press, Neckbreaker. From there, it was a slow, brutal beatdown that finished with a Discus Punch for the convincing win.

(Gail PIN Victoria, 60-6)

In the last of the "Modified starter" tournaments, four Superstars will enter the ring to fight for the Vengeance Championship. Three remakes plus a new Superstar from Divas Overload enter, only one will leave on top. The current schedule is:

Highlight vs Cena
Hero vs Leader

Cena vs Leader
Hero vs Highlight

Leader vs Highlight
Cena vs Hero

(My initial instinct is to say no, but I'd love second opinions. Should Paul Heyman get a shot at this also? I say NO beause he's not really a wrestler either in the game or out of it... while Stacy at least did do a little wrestling IRL.)

Words of Wisdom

I'd have to admit I'd enjoy watching Sesame Street if it was a lot more violent. I mean, who wouldn't want to buy a "Sickle-Me Elmo" doll?
