They all do, well except Virtual 3 and as we just said yesterday, that is coming in the near future.

You know, I miss spoiler Mondays.  So let's throw a few more Virtual Survivor Series cards up here, and since Extreme Rules was last night, how about a few Foreign Objects...

Note that I won't necessarily do this every Monday, but we'll see how it goes.  There's a lot going on right now...

Just to help save yourself time in the future, we try to keep the Virtual FAQ up to date with answers to questions like these.  You'll find it here in the Rules Forum at this link, including the definitions in the Glossary section for 'flip over' and 'counter'.  Smiley

This time?  Every time!

We need signs at shows "RELEASE CREATIVE"  "THE WWE HAS NOTHING FOR CREATIVE".

Nate and I were discussing it the other night, how ridiculous it is that great talent like Claudio (Cesaro) is riding the bench because his stupid yodelling gimmick isn't getting over, they won't let him work like he can, and now he's not getting any interest from the fans.  And that's HIS fault?  lol  No, its the idiot writers who think up crap like that, then can't figure out what else to do.

Meanwhile, these people who are obviously terrible at their job are kept around, while wrestlers are let go.  Brilliant.  As Cornette and other experienced people have said, if you walked into a territory as the booker and said you couldn't think up any storylines for the talent, you'd be FIRED ON THE SPOT.

WWE has their priorities all screwed up, but they have for years and have no incentive to change, so... it is what it is.  We can either watch or not watch, complain or don't, but they make enough money so they'll keep doing what they want.

Also, they should have had Swagger win and bring up the 'He cheated!' angle tomorrow on Raw instead.  Opening the door to Instant Replay in wrestling is pretty stupid, they should stick with the 'if the ref didn't see it, he can't call it' rule instead of wasting creative thought on how to pretend they are the NFL.  Tongue

Meanwhile, the one good thing I saw in this PPV is The Shield all getting titles.... just too bad the matches were short, so slow, plodding guys could take up all the main event time, haha.

Miz doesn't matter, he's not really doing anything but beating other midcarders.  Jericho got his win back over Fandango, right before he leaves again, and we're stuck with Johnny Curtis in a terrible gimmick whose one redeeming quality is catchy theme music... Tongue  Sheamus winning is ... whatever, same with Orton.  Those guys are treading water on SD anyway while they try to build new stars in Swagger and Del Rio, but its not really catching on IMO.  Last Man Standing ending was dumb.  And Brock going over does nothing for anyone else on the roster, but he and Dwayne are just there for buyrates, not to help build new talent up, so...  at least we can still...

...Believe In The Shield.   Cool

So there you have it.  I wouldn't say it was a bad show or lackluster, but boy I miss the old days when there were reveals, twists, surprises, and such on the pay shows.  And you can tell the 'extreme' side of WWE is very well contained and toned down.  Ah well, it is what it is.

Decent PPV by WWE standards, I guess.

8  Everything Else / Professional Wrestling Discussion / [SPOILERS] Extreme Rules Results on: May 19, 2013, 06:39:14 PM
I missed the Pre-show and the beginning of the actual show, but I found the results online:

* The Miz d. Cody Rhodes (Pre-Show)
He ate a Cross Rhodes, but came back with a Figure Four for the clean win.

* Chris Jericho d. Fandango
I came back in mid-match to see a flurry of big moves and reversals, then Fandango came off the top rope and ate a Codebreaker for his troubles, and the loss.

* Dean Ambrose of The Shield d. Kofi Kingston via Snap Mare Driver, NEW U.S. CHAMPION!
SWEET!  The match was fast-paced and didn't run long.  A nice throwback to Bob Backlund as Ambrose locked in a crossface chickenwing a few minutes in. Kofi made a mistake not letting Ambrose get counted out after Trouble in Paradise knocked Dean out of the ring.  Ambrose dodged a second attempt, then laid out Kofi for the clean win.  Notably, the other two Shield members left during the entrance and didn't come back until the match was over.

*Sheamus d. Mark Henry in a Strap Match
This match was under Four Corners rules, and they did all the usual spots, teasing 3 corners but getting countered.  Finally after both guys touched 3 corners, Sheamus got a Brogue Kick on Henry and touched the 4th corner for the win.

Backstage, Kaitlyn and A.J. talked smack to each other until they started brawling, until the zebra squad came to break it up.

*Jack Swagger d. Alberto Del Rio in an I Quit Match
*Alberto Del Rio d. Jack Swagger in an I Quit Match
Back and forth action with a kendo stick involved, and an obnoxious referee asking every 10 seconds if someone wants to quit.  Pretty decent match in general, then Swagger reverses the Cross Arm Breakers into the Patriot Lock, and Ricardo thinks about throwing in the towel... Zev nails him and throws the towel in himself, causing the ref to think Ricardo quit for ADR.
But WAIT!  A second ref runs out and tells the first one what happened, the first ref calls for an Instant Replay at ringside (?!?) and restarts the match.  Shortly afterward, Del Rio hits the Cross Arm Breaker for a lengthy bit and Swagger quits.

*Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns d. Team Hell No in Tornado Tag Match, NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS
Another fast-paced match, all 4 guys going at it.  Lots of exchanges, reversals, and cool-looking moves.  The finish came after Reigns had Bryan up in torture rack position, Rollins came off the top with a flying kick, into some type of throw by Reigns (I blinked and missed part of it, there was no reply surprisingly).  Again, no interference by Ambrose, Shield wins totally clean.  Believe in The Shield!

*Randy Orton d. Big Show in an Extreme Rules Match with the Punt
Amusing start as Orton keeps finding kendo sticks and Big Show keeps taking them away and breaking them, ha!  Big Show put a ladder across two unfolded chairs and went for a Vader bomb onto Orton, but Randy moves and Show went crashing into the ladder.  Orton got a second RKO onto a chair, but Big Show was still rolling around, so the Viper just backed up and gave him the punt to finish him off.

*The Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Title was stopped when neither John Cena or Ryback could continue
Yeah.  So it was a decent match, back and forth, a couple tables were broken, they brawled into the crowd.  Cena held his own despite the issue with his achilles heel injury, but Ryback also wouldn't stay down.  Finally on the stage, Ryback escaped Cena's AA attempt, and basically spinebustered him into and through the stage lighting.  Sparks flew, it looked kind of cool.  But both men were down, and Cena got a neck brace and stretcher, apparently there is no finish to the match.  Crowd didn't like it at all.

*Brock Lesnar d. Triple H via F5 in a Steel Cage Match
Brock hurt his knee early on trying a running knee strike on HHH, who moved and let Lesnar hit the cage.  Heyman tried to intervene by sending a chair into the ring, though that backfired later as Trips worked over the leg, including a Figure Four and Sharpshooter.  He later pulled down a sledgehammer colored to match the cage, hidden at the top - nice!  Heyman came in the cage but was Pedigreed... later though, he got off a low blow on Trips, Brock hit him with the sledgehammer and despite limping on one leg, hit the F5 on Triple H for the win.

Interesting.  I figured if anyone played it, the winner would be Shawn Michaels / Elijah Burke, but I can definitely see the advantage of Funk as well, cycling cards and drawing 3 cards a turn as well as having protection for your Extreme Cores.

I still say Tornado should be non-Virtual, but I'm glad you guys had fun with it, heh.  Smiley

It's prize support.  You get them for holding tournaments.  If we gave the images away freely, they wouldn't have any value as prizes, obviously.  Wink

Some also have them for trade, if you check the Marketplace.

Because you don't own Manager-original version (or you have a limited amount), so you can print off all the Manager TBs you want.  Smiley

We won't actually reprint the printed cards - legal issues abound - but we'll make Throwbacks that are pretty close to them.

16  Everything Else / Professional Wrestling Discussion / Worst Era of Wrestling on: May 18, 2013, 09:38:28 AM
I wanted to comment on a question in the last DoD about the worst era in wrestling history, because I disagreed with the answers given... but not wanting to disrupt the game, it seems better to start a new topic.

My opinion was that the worst era wasn't mentioned, it was the post-Invasion era.  After WCW was bought and ECW closed down, and all the 'extra' guys were let go by WWE, they had no competition and settled into a fairly boring rut.  HHH ruled Raw, had merged the I/C title with the World title so there was only one champion, and tried to be hated with outrageous stuff like Katie Vick or borderline offensive stuff like the Wrestlemania Booker T angle, 'People like you'.

The only redeeming part of the only wrestling company available to watch was the Smackdown Six, tearing it up in all kinds of variations of matchups.  (For those who don't know, that's Angle, Edge, Benoit, Mysterio, Eddie, and Chavo)  But other than that, most guys (especially on Raw) didn't really have storylines, they'd just go out and wrestle.  It was a pretty boring time, and I barely watched Raw back then.

I saw the comments about the 92-94 era, but there's things we remember fondly from then:  I.R.S., Doink, Repo Man, the other wacky characters they came up with.  Sure, it was fairly goofy, but at least there was something memorable...

So what do you guys think, agree/disagree?

17  Everything Else / Professional Wrestling Discussion / Re: El Generico: WWE-Bound on: May 17, 2013, 08:28:55 AM
More news... Sami Zayn is expected to make his NXT debut on the next show.  Meanwhile, I read this on a dirt sheet site:

"Here is the latest on the former El Generico, who now goes by Sami Zayn in WWE NXT. The general feeling on Zayn is that he cuts good promos, is intelligent and is good in the ring. With that being said, he has also been told to tone down the amount of high spots he does in a match and to slow down the pace of his bouts. He has not been told to cut them out all together, but just to cut down on the amount that he is doing."

So the man who used to be El Generico has been told to be more generic.   Cheesy

As I said, its on the website, but...  the entrance fee to enter the convention is buying a badge.  They have thousands of people there, you don't get to just walk in and look for free.  Wink

To enter the tournaments, the fee (charged by the convention, otherwise we would just run them all for free) for the events is listed in the first post of this topic.

You can purchase a badge at gencon.com up to a certain date, yes.  After that, you can buy one on site, so showing up without a badge isn't a problem.  (Not sure when the cutoff for early registration discount ends though...)

I disagree, there is NOTHING dickish about calling the cops on people who block your driveway.  It's illegal, so you call law enforcement.

And I'd have probably done it on Day 1, but I have a very low tolerance for people getting in my way when I'm driving, haha.
