Hey guys, it's The Immortal Vick 'Stay Away from Daivari' here.
Wow, what can I say about Worlds this year. D2, great job putting everything together. Thanks for taking care of everything and making sure all the events went smoothly.
To everyone that I met for the first time, it was awesome getting to know you all, and you are all awesome.
Justin, our 2010 champ, you and I had great matches in the semis, though you didn't make it to finals, you're still a champ to me.
Dooshe, you da man brother. Playing against you is like playing against a brother. Our matches were great and I'm glad you walked away the champ and brought the title back to SoCal.
So here's a little detail on the match-ups I had for the day:
First round we played All Axxess. I was Kennedy and matched up against Travis' The Rock deck. I pulled a victory on that one (1-0). Travis had a good build, but Kennedy's ability was a bit much for him.
Second round we played Classic. I was Hurri-Friends and matched up against D2s' Mitch. It was a good match, but Hurri-Friends had too many maneuvers in the end (2-0). He had a good technical build that has lots of potential.
Third round we played Virtual Classic. I was Dwayne The Rock Johnson matched up against Kyle's Your Freakin' Hero. I got some fortitude on the board with Pump Kick. And on his turn he used Collegiate Champion, buu I had DTTAH, so his hand was hurt. Few turns later, I think I pinned him with Rock Bottom. Again, good battle and he built a nice YFH deck.
Fourth round we played Virtual Revolution. I was Matt Striker matched up against Scott's Matt Striker. I drew the absolute worst hand ever, and he just played maneuvers until the pin in around 6-7 turns.
Fifth round we played Virtual All Axxess. I was Eugene matched up against Jake's Jake The Snake Roberts. He made a critical mistake by not using Vince GRA to reverse Andre's Headbutt. After that I had enough fortified to sit back and draw maneuvers with Momentum and I think I pinned him with The Samoan Spike. He built a solid deck, and I give him props for it.
Then it was time for Semis and I was paired against the World Champion Justin. First round we played Classic, me with Hurri-Friends and him with Boogeyman. Unfortunately, his ability didn't effect my pre-match too much and I just had too many maneuvers at the end of it. His Boogeyman is a fantastic build, very very strong. It was just a bit of a bad matchup. Hopefully he'll post a deck list for it.
By the way, I'll post deck lists for all 5 of my decks when I get home if anyone is interested in seeing them.
Second match against Justin in a best 2 of 3 was Virtual Classic, me and Dwayne The Rock Johnson and his Kaientai. He built a sick deck. I've never seen anything like it. In the end, I got my Fortitude up to win with a Rock Bottom. Again, all props go to Justin for building great decks and putting up a great battle with me.
Finals best 2 of 3 was against Drew 'DoOshe'. First round was Virtual Revolution, me with Matt Striker and him with Ric Flair. I again had a horrible hand, but his Flair build was just too strong. He got a valiant victory.
Second match was Virtual Classic, me with Dwayne and him with Melina. His Melina deck is wicked strong. I got some Fortitude in the beginning, but he controlled the match the entire game. He actually had the entire game in his hand, he had Drastic Times in play and my hand was down to 2 or 3. I had DTTAH in my hand and he knew and on his turn would've discarded it from me with his ability, but I played How Important Is It to blank it. For the next 5 turns he made the mistake of not discarding before his draw segment to get his ability back, so I kept drawing cards and eventually got enough maneuvers to pull out a win. Again, Drew had this game in the bag. He should've won, but somehow I got some divine intervention and won. It's a game I won't forget, IMO it was an epic battle.
Third and final round was Classic with my Hurri-Friends and his RVD. He Unscripted my Gregory Helms, Ace Reporter Manager and it was downhill from there. His maneuvers were too much for my reversals.
Drew my brother, congrats on the victory and bringing the title back to Cali. I'm glad it was you, you deserved it.
I'm sure he and Justin will put some some tourney reports as well, and I look forward to reading them.
