I'll let this one go, but its really not appropriate to come into our thread and advertise your fantasy cards.  Do whatever you do, that's fine, enjoy it.  But for all the work that a lot of people put into these cards, its really not okay to try and 'steal their thunder' by bragging about your own cards.

This is just a warning, if it happens again, I'll just delete the post.

...back on topic, we may look at other 'limited' Superstars in the future (if not in V5, then in V6) and try to expand their builds.  It's one thing to have a direction, but another to be completely focused on one particular card or card type.  Smiley

Eh, I don't know that I'd consider them as limited.  They have so many toys (Stable, nWo, V1 card, moves from SNME) that they have a lot more options if you don't want to just play Bomb / Power / Slam.  Besides, if we do Scott Hall and/or Kevin Nash in V6, they'd get more support there as well.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean that as bragging or advertisement. I certainly was not trying to steal anyone's thunder. I thought it was relevant to the conversation about interesting deck designs. I will certainly try to be more careful next time.

Maybe it just got lost in the Scotty reveal, but I really would like to know if more Backstage Politics cards are in the works, I would really like to see another good non Redemption build for BSP.

I was going to do this in the morning, but since WWE gave us one hell of a PPV match, I'm in a great mood, so... here's a spoiler.  Sadly, its not Punk or Bryan related, heh...

Cards face-down underneath other cards aren't considered to be in your Ring. If you have That's Broken down with a card underneath and I play Drop Toe Hold, I can't snipe away the card underneath Broken.

I'm more keen on her card support. Finding enough cards to stuff under vise lock would be hard

Hopefully there will be a variant of "I Will Sit Right Here And Bide My Time" for her

Stuff under Vise Lock doesn't count either.

Molly is part of a new mechanic that we're using for V5, namely, flipping stuff in your Ring over. We'll do a more detailed write-up when it's not ungodly late at night.

Daeva is right... this is something new.  We have more planned to develop with it, but like 'Classic' moves, we're starting out with just a little of it and we'll expand from there.

Note:  We are NOT talking about That's Broken, Vise Lock, JBL's Limo, or any other card that lets you 'tuck' cards underneath it.  Those are the same as always, nothing changes with those.  What we're talking about is new, flipping a card over.  You take that Elbow to the Face, turn it face-down in your Ring, and it has no effect.  It gives no Fortitude, there's no text on it, etc.

Why would you do that?  What cards can you flip and can't you flip?  Who uses this mechanic (including someone already spoiled!) in this set?   And how can you protect yourself from having your cards flipped over?  More on that in the coming weeks...  Smiley

I think flipping a card have to do something with permanent cards. Since permanent cards cannot be move from your ring, flipping it may made the card to have no effect. Just my thinking

It's just the opposite, Permanent cards canNOT be flipped over, along with Active and RMS cards.

The long version: in V5, cards have effects that flip cards in a Ring face-down. Permanent, Active, and RMS cards cannot be flipped face-down. While a card is face-down, it has the face-down trait, its text is blank, and it has no traits, Fortitude, or Damage. (It retains its title.) There is a general card to turn things back face-up again and some Superstars have ways of turning cards face-down and face-up.

Face-downs can also be used as placeholders for effects, like this:

Eve can take something that isn't Permanent, Active, or RMS in her hand and turn it into a moonsault! She gets Fortitude for having it in her Ring, just like a real move, and if someone turns one of her other cards over, that becomes a moonsault too and gives her more Fortitude.

Just to add to what Nate said, for those wondering about the 'why'...

Changing the card to give it a 'face-down' trait doesn't work when there's an RMS, that's modifying it.  Also, we didn't want an important Permanent card like Back to Basics getting flipped over - Permanent means it can't be moved from the Ring, flipping over a card shouldn't take away from that.

The last one is Active... unfortunately, the way the Active trait is worded officially, you can't play 2nd version of Card X where there is an ACTIVE card with the same title in your Ring.  Since a face-down card has no traits, you'd be able to play another copy of King Interferes, Outside Distraction, and so on.  That's no good.

So - no Active, RMS, or Permanent cards can be flipped over.  But here's some cards that are perfectly legal to flip:

Elbow to the Face
Ready to Fight
Shoot Forearm
Managed by Jimmy Hart

We have a few more Superstars that will take advantage of this mechanic in small ways, and some that didn't make the cut in Virtual 5 (but should see play in Virtual 6, yay!).  But its a simple mechanic to add to the game without adding a bunch of new reversals (like Revolution moves) or complex rules (like Volley).

So does Eve have to play a maneuver before putting the "moonsault" face down on the table?
