Hi all, I'm just getting back into the game after a long long hiadus. Just wanted to say that I've been pouring through the virtual cards and they look just fantastic. I'm really stoked to see/play the Rock and Sock connection.

Keep up the great work, it must be a ton of effort. The results are worth it though.

Thanks!

Well... I've made a couple of the Superstar cards for guys who plan to make in the future...  but that would almost be cruel, since - after V5 is released - I think our poor playtesters who've been going without much of a break for quite some time should get a few months off.  Smiley

Not at all....I've found the playtesting experience (aside from the normal spats we all have with each other in my apartment anyway) to be a mass positive, it's opened me up to new ways to make decks and what is "good" and "not good" and what the game does and DOESN'T need.....if we keep at it, my annual "Gen Con Raw Deal burnout" might be a much shorter period!

(but that's just me.....I stand in front of slapshots every day and call it FUN.....so I won't speak for everyone...)

Well another part of the issue is that we haven't really had a lot of feedback on the SNME Superstars.  I know I haven't had time to build even 1/4 of them so far, so that will give us some time to see what support they might need for the future.  I do feel a little bad because that's one area of the set where we didn't really get as much going as I would have liked.  We do have support lined up for the WCW & SNME crowd (and Virtual 3!) but in some cases we had to use a 'fill in' card for the time being - not a bad card, but not necessarily what is needed to bridge the gaps they might have, etc.

Anyway, point being that it seems healthy to spend a little time to look back before we start looking forward... Smiley

Fair enough, I'd be glad to give feedback on the SNME stuff that I've played around with.  Perhaps someone should start a thread about it?

Even if the information is of no use to Creed, I love the SNME superstars and would love to discuss them more often.

Monday, Monday...  man, I don't know what I'm going to do once we get this set finalized and I don't have anything to spoil on a Monday!  Cheesy
What?  You mean you don't have Virtual 6 ready to go?

Well... I've made a couple of the Superstar cards for guys who plan to make in the future...  but that would almost be cruel, since - after V5 is released - I think our poor playtesters who've been going without much of a break for quite some time should get a few months off.  Smiley

Also, V6 will be a smaller set, just a handful of Superstars and some support cards, with a shorter turnaround and a LOT less playtesting.  Smiley

But its still going to be a while, so posting Vader or Val Venis or Scott Hall would just be mean.  Smiley

CREED

Just curious have you given any consideration to doing something more like Bryson/LCGs where you release smaller sets just to sort of inject some new cards more frequently?  You could test multiple simultaneously but it'd make the wait seem a bit less huge and the actual release a bit less overwhelming?

The answer to your question is yes, we're exploring releasing smaller packets. One concern that I, personally, have with releasing a lot of small packs in quick succession is that it can be distracting, you just get around to building R-Truth and then the Little Jimmy packet gets released and Truth gets forgotten. (No, we're not going to make a Little Jimmy Superstar, even though he has his own T-shirt.)

That doesn't mean that we're not looking into it and we'll keep everyone up-to-date once we figure out what the next set is going to look like.

Not to get too far off-topic here.

After playing and still playing the Star Wars CCG with all of its added Virtual sets, this is exactly what the player base decided they wanted. The PC put out a poll and overwhelmingly the players said they wanted smaller sets, maybe 2-4 a year. Then, it never happened. They just kind of ignored it unfortunately. The game seems to be slowly dying (again), but not from a lack of interest. The PC just keeps making wrong decision after decision making their players feel neglected and dumb.

I for one am a big fan of smaller sets. Whether it be Superstars, support or just new archetype cards. As of right now we have a couple players in our group of four who seem to be losing interest because they want new superstars to be released that have been spoiled or just superstars they want to play. Or it could just be they are getting older and don't feel like card games do it anymore. When the new set finally does launch, their interests will hopefully be renewed and it will overall become more fun again.

It is a slippery slope for the players that don't actually get to play as often as some. Having sets released too quickly can have players feeling overwhelmed with choices or not enough time to build and play the superstars they want.

On Topic.

Very impressed with Vickies Ability to make her opponent Excuse her. Obviously most of the Diva Actions would be dumb on top of shoot action or Shane-o-mac BASH, but isn't she a self-proclaimed Diva? That's been played off kind of big the past couple years not only by her, but by the writers and Cole. Was just kind of caught off guard.

Well, I can understand that sentiment.. the waiting and such. Although I would say that between all of the Virtual 1-4 sets, there's probably a few Superstars that haven't been played that would be fun.  Hidden treasure and such.. Wink

However, I've definitely 'seen the light' regarding huge sets.  Bigger is NOT always better, and as we've said, future sets will be smaller and will require far less time to produce than the year or so it has taken in the past.

I'm surprised people are still talking about this, considering we've already said we would.

Time to take 'yes' for an answer.  Wink

Did that already. We do need to spoil something, though, so I'm going to do something slightly different. Pick a number 1-7 and I'll randomly choose one of those numbers, grab the corresponding Rookie's Pre-match card, and post it.

Sixth from the left on the Nexus superstar card gives us the South African Sensation!

K, so I might be reading this wrong...but isn't south African sensation redundant with Gabriels text?  S
He ignores the D restrictions on high risks anyway, so why would his pre-match ignore the played after text considering it has to be played after a maneuver anyway and his power has kicked in.   Are there high risks I'm not thinking of here or are about to be printed that have to be played after an action or as a "counter" only?  Either way, the search and recycling ability of the card is fantastic and im looking forward to trying him out.

It searches for a High Risk, and if you find one that needs to be played after an Action or as a Counter, or if, say, your Ability gets blanked or switched, you can still launch the High Risk that you found.

Besides, it also lets you reload your good stuff into your deck, so it'd be worth playing just for that.

Random aside, but the next person the Rock needs to ask that pi question to is Ryback, because we all know what his answer would be.  < / offtopic >
