My attempt at a Classic Deck for Gencon.  I haven't built a straight classic deck since GAB.  Please let me know if you see any flaws in my strategy, or holes in my deck that could be exploited. I forget about the brokeness that was pre-virtual Raw Deal.  (Funny, and I thought the virtual stuff was broken.  It's not, it has really helped balance the game)
I'm going for a well balanced deck that uses Kane's ability as a backup plan.  I don't really want dedicated overturn.  My plan is to destroy their hand with the Hell cards and See No Evil, then pummel and burn.
Last thing, the only advice I will not take is "Switch to Big Freakin' Machine".  That said... ON TO THE DECK!

KANE-Classic, Raw, Heel, Cheater

Pre-match
1x Gen Con 2005 If I can get it
1x Born of Hellfire
1x Find out How to Fight From Finlay If I get the Venue
3x Where the Hell Is This?
1x Underrated Superstar TB
1x A No Show
2x For the Love of The Game

Mid-Match:
3x Ready to Fight
1x Four Years in the Making: Survivor Series 3
1x Fortitude Surge
1x Restricted Use In This Area
1x Undermine the Competition
1x Unscrupulous S.O.B.
1x The King Interferes!
1x Brothers 'til the End

Arsenal:
1x Choke Hold TB
6x Another Bib Freak'n Hellfire Boot Not sure if I need 6, but there isn't a lot of maneuvers anyway
1x Big Freak'n Uppercut
1x Boot to the Face
1x Big Freak'n Powerslam
1x Kane's Chokeslam
1x Kane's Flying Clothesline
1x Kane's Tombstone Piledriver
1x Hellfire Chokeslam TB
2x Sidewalk Slam TB

3x ...Where the Hell Are We?
3x Why the Hell Are We Back?
3x Why the Hell Are We Here?
1x Out of the Hell Fire
1x Hellfire & Brimstone
1x Tonight I Unleash Hell
1x Chains of Destruction
1x In the Presence of the Kanenites
1x Unmasked Vengeance

2x Volley This
2x Don't Try This at Home
1x Too Many Rules and Too Many Refs
1x Big Enough to Eat Somebody
3x See No Evil
1x Armageddon

1x Get Out of Here!
3x A Revolution of the Mind
3x Elbow to the Face
1x The RAW DEAL Revolution
2x Get the "F" Out
1x Masked Vengeance
1x Help's On the Way!
1x Kane's Return
3x Manager Interferes
3x No Chance in Hell TB

I don't have overturn protection (Divine, Let's Wrestle Already), but I shouldn't run into KANE.  I'm Gonna Break You Shouldn't be that much of an issue for this Deck.  I just wonder if throwing 8 Damage Big Hell fire Boots w/ For the Love of the Game is enough to build fortitude.  The deck only needs about 12 Fortitude to survive.  Why the Hell are we back can keep cycling the Ready to Fights, my main recovery card.

Fun fact: There are also 26 cards with "Hell" in the title in this Deck.  Grin

I'm finding (not to my surprise) that This deck needs some tweaking.   I have made some changes that I haven't posted yet but I have a question I have room for 2 cards and I'd like to know which card is better in everyone's opinion:

Overshot Your Mark  or  Powerslam

I'd like to use it to lay down pain on volley decks, Atomic Lariat, and Precision Haymaker.  I'm already packing leg drag tb and enough uniques to combat the Atomic Lariats.

Please give your vote down below and a brief explanation why if you'd like to share that with me.

Like in poker your decision depends on your situation. In this case, lets consider your playing environment in Iowa at least in part.

1.) I assume you've at least ran some playtesting with your deck. Do you have problems getting to 13F as opposed to the 8F for Overshot?

2.) Also realize that Overshot does nothing against Atomic Lariat and Precision Haymaker, how popular are they in your area as oppposed to Volley.  If that's your main source of consternation, maybe consider Backslide instead.

Personally I usually can't find more room in my builds for anti-strike tech other than Leg Drags because of the low fortitude and they count as zeroes in a pinch. If I were running in to extra Atomic Lariats and Precision Haymakers, I'd up that to 2 or even 3 and/or a Backslide or 2 for the RMS and the possible win condition. Between Overshot and Poweslam (TB) I like Overshot unless 13F is extremely attainable VERY easily like in R-V-D or something along those lines. Otherwise 13F is really high.

I'd go with something a little more violent. Like Ring Steps.

Personally I'd drop Kane's chokeslam and 1 copy of leg drag for Precision Haymaker, maybe even 1 copy of boot lace for Haymaker #3

are you intending to grab choke hold (TB) with a no show every game?

I'm a fan of ring steps, but I'd have to work in Chicago Street Fight to make it worth while.  About what LordFa9 was saying what about instead of Precision Haymakers I use Perplex opponent? and Yes Choke Hold is grabbed every game.  Nothing Like an 8 damage 0 fortitude submission to start a game.

no offense but just I can't shake the feeling that you seem to want your deck to be able to do both hard hitting aggro and overturning

looking at your maneuver set it does seem that you are going the hard hitting route and my reasoning for P Haymaker was so you could quickly bridge to TMF land

also in theory your haymaker will function as a perplex of some sorts as it thins your opponents arsenal

The maneuvers that are in the deck are good for fortitude building, and there are 2 TMF's, but I want to kill my opponent with a well placed action, like shoot action, or something like Shane O Mac delivers the BASH.  I think that the actions are less risky and more effective to throw in the LATE game than maneuvers.  Even Precision Haymaker can get clobbered by TMFs.  The Boot Lace, Dirty Low Blow, and German Suplex avoid "From Hand" Reversals all day.  So why open myself up to them in the late game?  I'd rather throw an action for the Kill.  I like Ring Steps, and perplex has always been an old favorite that I think is underplayed.

Before you think I'm completely ignoring advice, realize that i am just thinking out loud on this forum.  I'm going to try running the Haymakers and see where they get me.  I'm going to take out the Get back in the rings and 1 leg drag.  I'll edit the deck to reflect it.  You make a good point about burning through their arsenal just like the perplexes.  Only this draw is forced and can't be stopped!  It looks good.  Thanks for putting up with me and everybody's help so far.  KANE is a tough superstar, and the temptation to play BFM is SO great when you can't get Kane to work.  This version is working so far and is even taking it to some VIRTUAL classic decks.  The Haymakers might put him over the edge.

Again Thank You!

thinking out loud is fine, dw about it

the only difference to me between Kane and BFM is that one has a near guaranteed way to get out of the starting gates, but since you do have a way of doing that Kane is fine, especially since your ability will give you an edge in long matches and vs stall decks
