This is funny in the respect that QR and I have had private conversations on the virtues of a Miller for Staal/Fleury trade.

And in what could be one of the best playoff GIF's ever:

Yeah, I get that. I thought when my cousin Brian suggested that the Pens should trade for Ryan Miller (and later suggesting perhaps Malkin should be the one traded) that he was overreacting and would calm down. But now I see fans and writers for other teams suggesting drastic, franchise-altering moves which involve trading keystone/franchise players. I saw an article in the Vancouver Sun saying it's time to trade Ryan Kessler. I see Penguins fans splitting into three factions: "Trade Staal", "Trade Geno", or "Trade Sid" (Not kidding about the last. There ARE people suggesting it!). And I'm just thinking.........wh at the hell is causing these people to jump off a cliff.

Oh, and you get my cowbell Pimpin for the gif. I actually watched that sequence last night and laughed. The gif makes it funnier.

This I've been curious about...who will take on the Luongo contract and not deal back an equally absurd contract back to the Canucks?

How can you not say "absurd" and "NHL" in a sentence and NOT instantly say "Toronto" as a response? :p

Speaking of giving out more Cowbell.

Toronto is high on the list, as is apparently Tampa Bay.

Go figure.

Heartwrenching loss for the Caps last night.

But anyone tweeting the N-word or #GoPlayBasketball to Ward (check @LOLVancouver for examples) should be dropped off in Harlem Lethal Weapon style.  Disgraceful.

A 6 vs 8 Finals matchup.........thi s is the lowest seeding (combined) for a Finals matchup, isn't it?

I will be rooting for the Devils, because after further thought, I'd rather drink a gallon of piss as opposed to seeing "Richie" (who didn't give a f**k about trying to be a good captain) and "Cartsie" (who didn't give a f**k period) raise the Cup.

On a separate note.........

I heard this outcry about some show on the Canadian Broadcasting Network called While The Men Watch. I decided to check and see what was going on and why people were complaining. After watching some "highlights", I now see why. I'm fairly certain if I ever lay eyes on it again, it'll make me want to grab the nearest sharp thing and start stabbing myself.

It has to be....this is the first time a 6-seed has home ice (but still 4th place in the Atlantic woulda won most other ones....)

When the playoffs began almost two months ago.....I HAD NO IDEA....or delusions....that the Devils would be one of the last two teams standing!!!....nine years plus....disappointm ents.... letdowns....false hopes (and I mean this on and off the ice....ok, well more off the ice)....it seems like anything I put faith into something and believed in it....and put my heart into it....it would turn and kick me in the junk at the worst time possible.... friends, sports, my own games, relationships (ok, ESPECIALLY relationships....)......and a 22-year old kid who got jacked in the gonads a half hour before, standing 18 inches from a line and pushing a small rubber puck over that little line on the ice.....and it ALL feels like it melted away.....this still feels like a dream!!! I'm still tearing up when I watch the NHL Network and see the highlights.......

STANLEY CUP FINALS!!!!!!!!!! WWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOO!!!!!!

I'm gonna hit refresh on facebook and cry again  Cool

And it looks like I'm gonna have to watch Cartsie and Richie hoist the Hockey Holy Grail. At which point I induce vomiting.

But there's a bright side to it: it'll free up Canadian teams to win the Cup.

Tonight proved BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT that the Devils are VASTLY superior to the Kings in every way imaginable.

The Kings got this far due to luck and no one else realizing you need to go high on that hack Jonathan Quick. I will laugh as I see Quick's career crumble into oblivion next season.

Devils in 7. The comeback has begun. The Kings will crumble.

It's ok, keep deluding yourself that you can take 3 straight games from Quick. Kings will win the cup where they haven't lost this postseason, on the road.

And I'm no Devils fan. I'm a Flyers fan. I'm rooting for the Devils though because I'd rather not have Mike Richards and Jeff Carter get their names on the Cup.

So.......how'd that work out for ya?

Beginning to realize that the Kings are soon to be the SECOND team to blow a 3-0 Finals lead?

And I'll just say that if Jonathan Quick wins the Conn Smythe after the Devils come back and win the Cup, I will be booing with every other Devils fan. Even at 40, Marty Brodeur is SUPERIOR to Quick and a bigger cog to his team's success.

Easy stud.  All records were meant to be broken and the Kings had to trip up eventually.  But are you actually expecting me to say yes to your second question?

Have you ever had a debate and had someone say oh yes I'm ready to concede defeat when ahead on the scoreboard?

As to your third query, you can boo all you want if the Devils come back and win: though I doubt I will hear much from you on the subject when the Devils do fall.

Now back to the Pacquiao-Bradley wait

No, you'll hear from me if (fat chance) the Kings close it out. I'll be cursing Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, and Simon Gagne. Richards and Carter for having their names sully the Cup, and Gagne for playing on the Kings and thus brainwashing Flyers fans into rooting for the Kings.

Double-posting because I can...

When the Kings beat Vancouver, I called them to win the Stanley Cup in 6, just to my family and some close friends. It was premature, yes, but I've stuck by it.

Being right feels pretty good.

We await your arrival, QC.  laugh

Congratulations for the first time to the Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, and to the younger half of the first grandfather/grandson pair to have their name engraved on the cup, Kings Assistant General Manager Ron Hextall.

That's one more team off the "never won a cup" list, which I'm excited to see shrink. Every fan base deserves to bask in a championship at least once, and it's LA's time.

Damn Mike Richards and damn Jeff Carter. Them sullying the Cup by having their names engraved on it is a dark day in hockey. I feel even worse than when the Penguins won three years ago. And damn Simon Gagne for being on the Kings. Thanks to you, no one I knew wanted the Devils to win.

But it doesn't matter. The Kings will be nothing next season. Jonathan Quick will never again turn in the performance he did this season. Those so-called Kings fans in the stands (frontrunners, the lot of them) will go back to not giving a damn, like they have for the past 44-and-a-half years. And I'll be laughing when I'm proven right.

But for the players on the Kings not named Richards and Carter, good job.

New Jersey eff'd up one too many times. Giving three power play goals in the first doomed them. The Kings made the most of their chances. The Devils didn't.

Now please excuse me while I stick a couple fingers down my throat.

But it doesn't matter. The Kings will be nothing next season.
Every Kings fan was just happy to beat Vancouver despite not having Twin Magic. Its been a fairy-tale no doubt about it, and IDK if they'll be nothing, but no one plays for next season.

Jonathan Quick will never again turn in the performance he did this season.
Seriously, who will have a postseason like Quick did?

Those so-called Kings fans in the stands (frontrunners, the lot of them) will go back to not giving a damn, like they have for the past 44-and-a-half years.
Discounting many of my co-workers, family, and friends that lived and died by the Kings ever since Gretzky graced this town. Its hard to feel for a Flyers fan who's had it good for a good long while.

And I'll be laughing when I'm proven right.
But you're not right tonight! Go sulk with your negativity elsewhere.

Let the Riots Begin! I can hear the copters overhead as early as an hour ago. And bring on the Negative Cowbell for all the haters. Consider that little button a way to let off your steam, because you can bring down something as pointless as Cowbell, but you can't erase the Kings names off the cup, as much as Queensryche would like to.

As someone who has spent most of my life in Southern California I will try to respond as calmly as I can. As a Life long fan of the Sharks. I say congrats to a team that played better than anyone really expected them to and win the cup for a franchise that had never won one. They no longer have to look at the next town over at the ducks as the only Hockey franchise in California to win the cup.
P.S. the Ducks can go suck on a blow torch.
I look forward to my Sharks finding new and exciting ways to disappoint me next season.

My experience with LA fans in general makes me cringe in general, but Kings hockey fans in general tend to be more loyal than your average "fairweather" fan. The Fairweather-ness in my observations tend to stem from one franchise in particular......The Lakers. Because of the amount of Championships and play off appearances this leads to a kind of semi apathy about the state of the other teams who don't perform up to that level. I would also say the general vapidness of LA doesn't help matters either.

Kings fans(yes there are a lot more than 4 actual fans) Are more prevalent in the state than any other hockey franchise and they do a good job of being there regardless of how good the team is.

Devils fans. I feel bad for you. I really do. New  Jersey fans have been waiting forever to have a championship come home to them and I thought The Devils played very well. I get that you hate certain players.(I was a Lifelong Laker fan until I realized what an absolute asshole Kobe was and won't support the team until he is gone. At this point not sure that I ever will again.) I don't expect you to cheer us or anything drastic I just want to state my one opinion on this East coast, West Coast  flame war.

The Kings were The better team this playoffs. Not the best during the season. not the Best team in the league. The best team in the playoffs. They Annihilated very good teams on the way to your team, who by the way took more games from them than any other team during the playoffs. Also given some luck they could have just as well swept the Kings, especially considering how close the early games were. Honestly You guys did very well.

Will the Kings or Quick repeat any of this success next year. Couldn't care honestly(Sharks Fan), Probably not though if they're regular season is any indication.
This was a good exciting playoffs where an 6th seed met an 8th seed in the finals and Hockey will be better for it for how exciting the playoffs as a whole were.

I give a begrudging congratulations to the Kings who played well all playoff season.

Yes, the refs handed the Cup to the Kings in game 6 with atrocious calls but there were 3 other games lost this series. The Devils had two OT games in their building and couldn't win either so they put themselves in a position to lose the series and not win in 5 or even have a game 7.

The thing that disappoints me the most about this final is that this might be the last run for a while for this Devils team. Everyone knows about Parise's impending free agency and the fact that he'll be pursued heavily by both the Rangers and the Wild. Brodeur is also a free agent and will probably want a repeat of his $5 mm salary. Salvadore is a UFA and I'm sure he'll get paid by someone based on this playoff run. And I think Bernier and Carter are both free agents as well, and if we can't resign Parise I'd like to give that 4th line a shot at playing a full season together. If we can resign both Parise and Brodeur we could make a run but if not we'll have to find a 1st line wing and a starting goaltender (and I know for sure that the goalie market is currently thin on the FA market).
