Have been toying with a deck idea which seems fun and fitting for Kurt Angle: The Man of 1000 Holds.
This deck is straight up classic, so I don't wish to involve any virtual or revo cards. I could really use some extra feedback, so do let me know if you see any glaring flaws in this strategy. At the same time, let's also keep in mind that this is more of a fun deck rather than a competitive one  Wink

So here goes:

Kurt Angle - Classic, SD, Heel/Face, Fan Favorite

Pre-match (10)
1x The Kurt Angle Invitational* (the main engine to this deck, as to all Kurt Angle/YFH decks)
1x Product Endorsements TB*
1x Old School Psychology*
1x Man of 1000 Holds*
1x Ring Psychology: Neck*
1x Ring Psychology: Arm*
1x Ring Psychology: Leg (depending on superstar or used as backup)
1x Banned From Ringside*
1x Managed By Vince McMahon Tb
1x Bitter Rivals (Should anyone IAATG me, I don't get a total shutdown by securing a spot for Managed by Vince)

Mid-match (10)
1x The Road to Victory
1x A Phoenix Rising (to get rid of pesky managers)
3x Ready To Fight
1x You're As Graceful As A Cow On Ice
1x Unscrupulous SOB
1x Sustained Damage
2x Panic Grab

Arsenal (60):

Maneuvers (24)
1x Angle's German Suplex (Neck)
3x German Suplex Tb (NecK)
3x Fall Away Suplex Tb (Neck) - Searchable

1x Angle's Leg Bar (Leg)
3x Apply Legal Leverage Tb (Leg)
1x Leg Lock (Leg)

3x Wraparound Wrist Lock (Arm)

3x Angle's Uppercut
2x Atomic Driver
1x Atomic Spinebuster
1x The Maneuver of Doom
1x Angle Lock
1x Olympic Slam

Actions (6)
3x Chained Aggression
2x The Switch
1x Whoo!

Reversals (30)
3x Revolution of the Mind
3x Volley This!
3x Manager Interferes
3x Sloppy, Very Sloppy
3x Elbow To The Face
2x Once is Enough
2x Its Great to be back here in....
2x Don't Try This At Home
2x The Coach Says Today's The Day
2x Clumsy Opponent
1x Chained Heat
1x It's True, It's True
1x Where are your Medals?
1x Bad to the Bone
1x The Raw Deal Revolution

The outlay of the deck should say it all. The main plan here is to use Kurt Angle Invitational to search for the essential maneuvers to activate the two main ring psychologies (Neck & Arm) for massive control over my opponent's maneuvers and actions. Should my opponent get a good head start and deal me a considerable amount of damage at the start, I could use some recursion in the form of Ready to Fights & Angle Uppercuts. I try to keep cards in my deck searchable via the stip so the stip is indeed sacred to this deck!

What do you guys think? Would be great if anyone can chip in some constructive feedback to help improve this deck idea. Thanks!

I really like the look of it personally. I'd consider using leg a little more. Also, maybe collegiate? I'd chuck in some figure four leg locks so you get some nice big move that can't be reversed from hand or backlash. If you can force angle's leg bar though then spam blindside drop toe holds that can't be stopped from hand/backlash and most of your pre-match are perm so not really a downside from chucking them. If you get one leg through you then could have legal/illegal leverage, figure fours, blindside drop toe holds, regular drop toe holds and tear them apart a little.

Although I do think forcing through 1 wraparound wrist lock is a great idea.

More importantly, just noticed you aren't packing the three I's therefore you aren't a real angle deck.

As much as I want to include the 3 Is (I love them btw haha), I just couldn't find room for them. What would you suggest I remove then?

Also, my deck only has the capacity to support mainly 2 Ring Psychologies. So I would assume Leg and Arm is the way to go? I do love how I can discard 1 Suplex/Neck/Clothesline to reverse an Action with Ring Psychology: Neck though - it's like Rules were Meant to be Broken, but better. On the other hand, Blindside Drop Toe Hold and Figure Four are fantastic ideas, hmm really in a dilemma over which Ring Psychology to use  Huh?

Lastly, I would say it's either Banned From Ringside or Collegiate Champions - and to be honest, Collegiate is really taxing on the hand, having to discard 3.

I'd agree with what you said about collegiate to be fair. Normally it just means they search for a Don't try this at home and then you never use it so not a bad idea to stick with banned. Also means you can chuck your move near constantly. The other problem with the neck is getting the cards for it. You can search for 4 suplexs, 1 of which you need to play. You need to get them back into your deck to search for them again. I know its a bit naff but wrestling with a broken frickin neck has neck in it. If you can get a panic grab/wraparound wrist lock through then it cant be stopped from backlash.

Are Pencil-Necked Geek/Reverse Clothesline a good option? Maybe a copy or 2 Iron Will Tb to shuffle in the the searchable suplexes as well..

One question - Ring Psychology: Neck says you can discard any card with the word "suplex", "clothesline" and "neck" in the title to reverse any Action played by your opponent. Does that mean I can also discard from my Backlash deck since it didn't specify from your hand?

Discarding is -always- from hand, unless it says otherwise.

(Note: if something says 'reverse a card that would make you discard', you could reverse an effect that makes you discard a Backlash card, but when you are told to discard, its from hand)

Yeah the discards from hand. Also, you need to play a move to get the effect of neck. While you can discard any card with neck, I wouldn't bother with cards unless you can search for them. Iron wills may be a good idea.

If you wanted complete lock down, chuck in all the suplex, neck and clotheline cards you can and force a marking out (tb) through. Then you can discard a card to reverse any action or non-unique move. Good times. Might not be a bad idea that actually, you can get the marking out everyturn until its through then get a suplex every turn and completely shut them down while chucking legs at them. Get one wrist through just to get +4dam.

I feel this needs some way to force through the first move. You have a 7 card hand size and unless you get some F you may be a bit screwed. Granted if you get 1 arm or leg down you are laughing but until then you may just get destroyed quickly.

I tested the deck yesterday and yes indeed, I will be screwed if I don't get my maneuvers in. The Marking Out Tb was a great idea but the deck turned out to be rather slow when I ran it. I also realized if someone was to remove my old school psychology, it would negate the effect of the man of 1000 holds  Sad

So I have replaced Product Endorsements and Old School Psychology with Ring Psychology: Leg as my starting Pre-match. So all Neck, Arm, and Leg will be out - to be on the safer side.

As for forcing my move in - maybe you feeling lucky tb? I can search for this as well

You feeling lucky will prob let you get a grapple through. So it would work for getting neck out but I think that neck is the weakest of the 3 psychology. They will never let you get a submission through with you feeling lucky. You could try some things like turn the tide, i'm desperate, title on the line, underdog. None of them are particularly strong. Another idea could be houston texas, old school manager, banned from ringside, old school psychology and dare to challenge. It's heavy on the pre-match but you get rid of at least 7 cards hopefully. I still don't really like it.

That's true, you feeling lucky doesn't seem like a good idea after all.

I cannot afford a strategy that's heavy on the prematch since I'm really tight now - so underdog, title on the line as well as the heavy discard prematch (best laid plans kills this in an instance) is kinda out of the question..

Maybe a couple of low blows haha but my mid-match is pretty full as well. Hmm..

Even the low blows don't help that much. We need to force a wraparound wrist lock and apply legal leverage through. For the love of the games could be a good start but we'd need to work past RTV. I think collegiate champs may be worth testing. As long as they can't search for a DTTAH you should be alright. If they do get one you pretty much lose instantly though. The deck seems really close to being a powerhouse.

I suggest Panic Grab+Wrap Around Wrist Lock.

Also Some GREAT Leg Moves:  Single Leg Takedown, Leg Drag TB, Knee Lock, Workin on the Knee TB, Figure 4 Leg Lock (Original)

I think Leg is the most powerful Psychology of them all.  The only downside is they are not chain.  Leg Drag TB at least should make your deck as it reverses all kinds of nasty strikes AND will activate Leg as a reversal.

Another thought for getting fortitude and activating leg would be Panic Grab+Clutch onto opponent+Apply IlLEGal Leverage.  You just need to grab a Clutch somehow, Taunt the fans maybe?

That's a fantastic idea about clutch/apply. Leg is defo the best one and I think clutch apply is the best option although again RTV will just end the turn but it gets your enough f for leg drag which again is a great shout. I was looking at tb figurefour but I guess original would work fine. They need to make a 0f 1d multi that can only be reversed from arsenal with leg wrist and neck in the title.

My pre-match goes like this:

The Kurt Angle Invitational
Man of 1000 Holds
Ring Psychology: Leg
Ring Psychology: Arm
Ring Psychology: Neck

With this line-up, I don't think I have space for taunt the fans.
I was thinking of playing blindside drop toe hold - so they literally can't pluck anything. And that means I can't play Old School Psychology. Are there any alternatives?

And I just realized Drop Toe Hold is a fantastic card for this build! Once it's in, you can pluck any card from opponent's ring area.. Wow

Leg Drag is a good one, nearly missed that out. For clutch/apply, unless I get clutch into my hand, it will be a tough one to pull off, don't you guys think? Anw really appreciate the comments and feedback, please do keep the ideas flowing!  Grin
