Having recently acquired a complete Stone Cold set (minus the Patented Austin Kicks and The Condemned), I'd like to consult the good people of TCO for ideas on how to build a competitive deck with him. Not Rattlesnake, as I wanna try out the Premier character first and see how well he can do.

No Virtual, No Revo sadly. I've tried countless times to get my group into Virtual but it's a lost cause. Sad Classic only.

Thanks in advance guys!

damn of all the cards not to have you're missing his 2 best cards  Shocked. Btw do you have DTA (TB)? its not a must but nice to have

Personally I've always liked Do You Want a Hug?, most Austin/Rattlesnake decks I see always try to play this early, make your hand suck to high heaven, pop What?? to destroy your Cow On Ice, then take you to town with bluewave

Yeah, I was bummed on not getting The Condemned, but I never really got the fuss over the Austin Kicks. In Virtual, they're phenomenal but in Classic they're just 0/8 Strikes (with Bio Redneck) that can be Revo'd, right?

'Fraid my DTA is the old one. Now I'm starting to think I got a sour deal.

Agree with you on the Hug > What strategy. Those 2, along with Unleash Hell, seem to be Austin's stronger cards. His superstar specific support seems to be all over the place, so it's hard to find some sort of synergy with them.

You mentioned blue wave being strong with him. Care to fill me in on which Action cards specifically?

How about move sets? I've tried to build him a variety of ways but it looked like other chars can do it better than him. I've done B2B, Technical, full Precision, BASH with some Shoot and Blindside, and Chain (yech!). For the life of me, I can't seem to find any reason to not just use Rattlesnake or TMPT. But I really want to try and make Stone Cold work, one way or another. It's for a special "Alpha vs Omega" match with Andre that we're playing as a side game/special attraction at our next event.

Thanks for all the help so far man! Cheesy

Austin is kinda like the Rock in the bluewave aspect; both have nice actions that you'd be hard pressed to duplicate with non superstar specifics

Problem is that Austin doesn't have the the Control and utility aspects the Rock has. Brahma Bull, this is the Rock's show, and Just Who In The Blue Hell (TB) really stand out here, as well as the Rock's superstar specific maneuvers

Yes patented Austin Kick is nothing more than F:0 D:8, but those are rare in the non virtual environment and thanks to the MRP of that and the Bionic Redneck, it can't be hit by Restricted Use anymore.

Strategy wise, I don't see anything much for him beyond a bluewave + plunge strategy or you can make your moves hard to reverse using stuff like And The Crowd Roars or JR Style Action, with maybe a Thats! engine or dare I say it....a Hell (cards with hell in the Title) engine

move wise, he's pretty flexible but I'd stick to German Suplexes, Atomic Lariats etc etc. Don't forget Precision Haymaker if you're going with plunge

His ability is awesome with shuffle effects seeing how you never get stuck with cards that reverse on overturn in hand. You can try to play TWO! and obviously Divine Intervention.

Hmm... I totally forgot about TWO! Great suggestion, thanks man!

If I were to completely take advantage of his shuffling ability, that means I'm better off not using his Feud?

@LordFa9: That blue wave suggestion sounds interesting. I'll probably make room for the That's engine. I'd have to chip away at it though, since Andre will allow only 2 per turn. I'm also considering running PRS with him. After crapping on his hand with Hug TB, make him discard it bit by bit before hitting She's Got Legs > Wheelbarrow? No Slingshot into Ring Post since We Face Each Other craps on that.

Tried to build a deck from your suggestions. It's a Homecoming deck, so that the Blue Wave theme could be optimized with a guaranteed move per turn. Let me know what you guys think.

Prematch:

Washington, DC
WWE Homecoming
Hell in a Cell Match
Managed by Vince TB
Product Endorsements TB
Giving 'Em High Fives (Original)
Wrestlemania
What
Luck of the Draw (anti Giant Headbutt and Grab)
Managed by Teddy Long (to mitigate the minus handsize from We Face Each Other, since I can't pack Best Laid Plans)

Washington for a Lucky TB which can help the 0/5 moves get on the board. HIAC because I really hate Afterburn, and Austin's cards get around the restriction anyway. Vince + High Fives nets me 3 additional cards in hand. Wrestlemania is my current "must pack" card for prematch. Not sure about Luck and Teddy Long, those were just meta choices but can be changed for better options.

Midmatch:

Do You Want a Hug
DTA (wish I had the TB version)
Victory Roll
It's All For My Fans
Fully Loaded
A Phoenix Rising
That's Suboptimal
Goodnight Everybody
Atomic Bear Hug
Check This Out

Do You Want A Hug is the must-play card in every game. DTA is just to get the full benefit from What. Multi 5/5 move into Victory Roll is nice if I can pull it off. Maybe after popping Wrestlemania? All For My Fans and Fully Loaded are just there to rebuild the hand if ever We Face Each Other gets hidden. Suboptimal helps the "That's" engine and helps put more cards in hand. Phoenix Rising is anti Jimmy and Orlando Jordan, as Heenan and JBL are also popular choices around here. I'm not sure about Atomic Bear Hug and Check This Out, I just put them there because I can't think of better options honestly.

Maneuvers: 21

1 Stone Cold Stunner
1 Lou Thesz Press TB
1 Austin Elbow Smash
1 Stomp a Mudhole
1 Dynamic Finisher
1 The Finisher
2 Superkick
2 Suplex
2 Front Chancery
3 Short Arm Rib Breaker
3 Rolling Headlock Vise
3 Back Breaker Torture Rack

Just the Homecoming moves to guarantee I have something to throw every turn, plus Austin's stellar selection of shiny moves and the 2 TK TMFs.

Reversals: 20

1 Double Digits
1 Don't Trust Nobody
1 Divine Intervention
3 A Revolution of the Mind
2 Chained Heat
2 I Gotta Say, Out of Play
2 Hold The Phone
1 DTTAH
2 Once is Enough
3 Sloppy Very Sloppy
1 Overshot Your Mark
1 Two!!

I don't feel so great about the reversals, personally. I find it to be pretty sparse. No space for Leg Drag TB or other protection from Shoot Forearm/Atomic Lariat for starters. No space for No Sell either. But I'm hard pressed to find cards to take out for more red.

Actions: 19

3 That's Broken
3 That's Balanced
1 That's Something
1 That's It
1 Open a Can of Whoop @$$
1 Rattlesnake Rulz
1 Walk It Dry
1 Gimme a Hell Yeah
1 Unleash Hell
3 You Feeling Lucky TB
3 And The Crowd Roars

Blue wave as a Plan B, as suggested by LordFa9. The That's engine fits nicely I think, fetching reversals from the deck and helping shuffle the cards put to the bottom via Stone Cold's ability. Luckies are to boost the 0/5 moves through, as are the 3 copies of Crowd Roars (which can also help push through the copies of That's Balanced). Austin's shiny actions help push moves through and provide card draw and recursion.

I think this is the best I can do with Stone Cold, though frankly I feel unsatisfied with it. Like I'm forgetting something. I hope anyone can provide constructive feedback and suggestions. Appreciate it very much, thanks!

I think being able to manipulate deck to shuffle + overturn dmg > Stone cold feud. Drawing 2 cards a turn is great, but kind of lame and not as techy.
