So after expecting them to get swept by the Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder came back from 0-2 to win four straights.. finishing it off here at home in OKC with a massive comeback.

First off - who does anyone think they'll play in the Finals?  I would have said the Heat, but they seem to be struggling against the Celtics.  Can the Heat come back or are they just about done?

...and Second - can the East beat the Thunder?  They've gone further every year, will Oklahoma City gets its first major sports title this year?

Well im a fan of neither team so my mind is straight on this. I think the Heat will come back and win the next 2 games. If that happens I really see the Thunder beating them in 5 games. If im wrong and the Celtics win the series I think it could be a sweep to be honest with you.

Celtics in 6

Rondo is peeking at almost the perfect time.
Bosh's return is to little to lte for a Heat comeback.
Celtics have the best Defense and coach left in playoffs

I think the celtics will get it done. As for the finals, OKC will win in 6. They are young, fresh, and to talented for Boston, but it should be a good series.

I've had a lot of fun watching OKC grow up during these playoffs. They are the young skilled underdogs because they have limited playoff experience, but they are certainly showing they can pull it off this year.

Of the top 4 (as of last night), I was really struggling with who to cheer for because it my mind there's an arguement as to why each of the 4 teams could win. The Heat and Thunder are the young up and comers, whereas the Celtics and Spurs are the matures who want to win before they retire.

Overall, I've enjoyed the playoffs a lot, and am leaning towards an OKC championship win.

I'm extremely disappointed how Spurs lose the series when they were coming in undefeated in 22 games with 2 games series lead and lost 4 games in a row. Still, it's more of Thunder rolling over them than them choking. The Durant-lead team is really well-built with a good mix of offense (Durant, Westbrook) and defense (Harden, Ibaka).

See, I don't know about that.

I think Wade and Bosh are capable of making these strides and have done some of that already.  But James strikes me as an Alex Rodriguez style headcase.  Alex didn't all of a sudden "figure it out" in the year the Yankees won #27; he got lineup protection in Tex and Posada/Cano and a good trio of starting pitchers to rely on all in the same year.  In the same way, I don't think James will ever figure it out in that respect unless he gets some kind of exterior-generated epiphany (something along the lines of "Kobe how's my A$$ taste?" most likely).  He's still a supremely talented player and while he can border on stat collector he's capable of taking over any one game as he proved against Chicago.

I still feel like the Heat's best title chances are next year unless Howard goes to New York or LA and either gets it to gel very quickly (assuming there is a next year).  Boston's a year older and, if they're better than Knicks next year it's because of sheer will and superior coaching.  The Knicks will start to get it as a team, but they're going to regret trading Ray Felton and keeping Landry Fields.  A lot for NY will depend on if they can get good value at draft pick #17.  Chicago is interesting in the respect that they now have a very clear notion that their team is Rose + 4, and now they have to do what Cleveland didn't, but do they have the cap space to do it?  Orlando will take a nosedive if they lose Howard.  And Atlanta as constructed is clearly an inferior team to Miami.  And no one else is ready in the East next year barring a ridiculous trade or draft.

Guess Lebron proved you wrong there, Pimpin.

Funny, someone said 'Celtics in 5' but no one really expected (or wanted, haha) the Heat to win.  However, OKC just didn't quite seem ready...

But I've said it all along, even if they didn't win the championship... the Thunder have gone a little further each year since they've come to Oklahoma City.  They have a VERY young starting lineup, if they can get some help with a big man in the post and a sniper outside the 3-point line, they could have a very strong championship team that could win a couple rings.

But alas, its not this year.  King James gets his ring, at last.  Ah well.

Wow, you dug deep into the annuls to find that one.

First off, congrats to the Heat for winning...except Eddy Curry.  That fat sack of suck can choke on his championship ring.

Second, I stand by my prognostication that he's a headcase, but instead of wilting he heeled on everyone.

Third, thanks for pulling this one out of mothballs, I was suprisingly accurate about the Eastern Conference:

Miami - best year to try and win the title...well, that worked out well.
Boston - a year older, and will survive on will and coaching...check
New York - the wild card...well if they didn't prove that this year, you weren't paying attention.  For the record I think they got good value at #17, and they regret keeping Landry Fields, who regressed horribly this year.  Plus Linsanity...this team is in good shape if they can retain Lin and Novak (both of which could be in line for the "Early Bird rights" depending on how this ruling goes) and offer the mid-level to someone useful.
Orlando - nothing without Howard...well, when Howard went down, they fell from 3 to one game short of 7.  And they got beat by a team (Indiana) who they would have beaten had they had Howard methinks.
Atlanta - inferior to Miami as constructed...check

I'm probably gonna get beat on for this but:

I kinda pity poor Lebron, he hustled so hard to to get a ring and it finally finally paid off.

Hope he's happy Wink

I'll be the guy to say it:

Woohoo, Lebron got his ring.  All it took was a lockout that caused a shorter season.  So, congratulations to the 2012 NBA (paper) Champions.

Do it again next year when you have a FULL season, then we'll talk.

As Queen knows, I called this one to the exact game before the series began, and basically I'll sum it up with:

Lebron James was NEVER going to lose this finals. Not to the Thunder, the Lakers, the Spurs, anyone.  Too much slapping his character and game around (rightfully so in my eyes, maybe not in everyones) and he was not walking away another offseason with no hardware.  IF they had lost, the coach is fired, the big three is almost likely split up via trade and then he has even more embarrassment on his legacy.

Congrats Lebron, I still hate your ass but you are always a great player.

OK, I'll be fine with this, as long as you admit that under your reasoning, the 1999 NBA Championship is invalid. That was also a strike-shortened season (moreso than this past season).
