Dwayne Johnson turns things to crap, so I am not surprised. The new release date is close to Wrestlemania, so it will be crammed down our throat then. Growing up I was a huge fan of GI Joe comics, toys, and cartoons so I was looking forward to the movies, but found that they were not the same GI Joe and I would have to appreciate them as a seperate entity. I was unable to really get into the first movie, so the sequel will likely be the same for me.

Honestly, I think you are pretty much the only person looking forward to the sequel. The first one was horribad...I don't think even thr Rock can bring life back to this franchise, and it would probably be in their best interest to do a reboot...Yeah, I said it, reboot after one movie ala The Hulk. For the 3rd time.

It was pushed back to convert to 3D, and to add more Channing Tatum from what I've read.  I actually was planning on seeing it too.  The Rock makes everything better, he will always sell me a ticket!  Hell I saw Fast Five without ever seeing any if the other Fast movies.

I like action movies, and I've come to expect that these days, a Hollywood version of X may not be as close to our memories of X as we'd like, heh.  So yeah, I was looking forward to it - just means I'll have to wait til next year.

But I liked what I saw in the trailer, looks like some crazy over-the-top action... come to think of it, that DOES sound like the old G.I.Joe cartoon heh

The first movie was good for an action movie, but in no way did I view that as GI Joe.  The second one I probably won't even watch.

The first movie was such garbage that I still have fits thinking about it.

I was willing to give the second one a chance for a number of reasons.

I'm a fan of the delay because the whole "convert to 3d" is non-sense, they're doing it to reshoot scenes, and try and save the franchise, which I'm a fan of, because apparently the reviews from the test screenings was that it was unwatchable crap.

So if they can salvage it some how, and make it at least an enjoyable blow up popcorn movie, then it's worth the delay.

Plus it was going to get killed up against spiderman.

Mostly that last one.

Plus Avengers earlier in the summer and DKR about a month later, they may have realized they had step up their game. I'm just waiting for all the action figures to go on sale. it's weird seeing stores having G.I.JOE sections of merchandise for a movie that won't be out for 6 months.

The trailers looked good, I wonder where they went wrong. Also maybe with Tatum's movies doing so well, they wanted to highlight him more. Something for the chicks to check out until Magic Mike 2 comes out...

Apparently the "main" reason it didn't test well is because they killed Channing off in the first scene of the movie. SO they changed it and rewrote the movie to add his character back in.

I watched the first one because I like action movies. The story was bad, the acting was bad, the actors are bad. But it did have some decent action... Which is why they brought back Ray Park... The best part of the first one.  Smiley  so yeah, I'll give the 2nd one a chance because of Ray and The Rock.

With Dwayne Johnson in it the acting gets even worse. I was a huge GI Joe fan in the 80's but will pass on this most likely crappy film.

I summed up the first one with "When ever they were fighting for their lives, it was good.  Everything else was crap."

Also, I hated how the marketing department ruined the Paris scene with the ads for the movie showing the outcome of the action.    Sure that wasn't the movie's fault, exactly, but it didn't help.

Ummm....that was some great ninja action, though.

I was a huge fan of the original cartoons, but like transformers when I watch those old show, I realize how bad the writing etc were, especially when compared to the wave of cartoons in the 90's that focused on the story first, merchandise second. However I do think the writing in the first movie was worse than most episodes of the original cartoons, somehow.

Oddlly enough some cartoons now are worse when it comes to merchandise first and story second, like Yu-gi-oh and beyblades, that are mainly the kids playing with the toys/cards.

I did feel GI Joe stayed more the course then Michael Bay did with those "films" about the annoying kid who happened to own a car that became a robot :p....I actually did enjoy the first GI Joe movie and I'm looking forward to the second one still....it also has less hype and expectation behind it too which helps.....throwing a name like Dwayne's into it though is gonna raise the bar in public perception....I just hope it keeps the course it laid out in the first one...

and please....MORE Baroness Cheesy
