Anything with a simple SSA. Something like Lashley or YFH.

I find the 2 you mentioned a bit off. yfh looks simple but he has a lot of effects to manage and lashley is not a really good representation of the game in general since you disregard overturning for the most part.

That being said, I recommend superstars like tazz, lita, rikishi, taker/bod. They are not too hard to understand and are just at a level to be challenging but not too complex.

I always thought that most of the first wave of starters is a good starting point for just about anyone, I mean HHH has no Ability, so for a straght foreward deck, he is probably one of the easiest to play, and learn the basic rules, but the choice is really open for debate.

Any deck with a search ability. I find it helps keep them interested and on the offensive if they can search for a dropkick, suplex, etc. Playing "Go, Draw, Go" is boring, especially for rookies. Rikishi is my pick for best starter superstar.

EDIT: Post count just hit 1,000. Go me.  Smiley

I second this notion.  Any deck that keeps a younger player actively involved in the game is a sure bet that they will have fun, and search engine decks not only provide this element, but it also gets them more familiar with the cards in their deck so you can slowly ease them into more advanced strategies later on.

I second The Sarge, but with a bias as that was my first built deck.

Brothers of Destruction would also allow them to see a lot of their deck and play cards most every turn while building their F curve without slowing down the game while searching through the deck all night.

You're assuming they will know what to pick up, from experience I can tell you that is a bad idea to open up that much search to a new, 10 year old.

maybe you're right; but the way I see it. Sure the kid will probably never pick up the optimum card, but at least making him/her think a bit (maneuver, action or reversal?) about what to choose will help build play skills. If they are overwhelmed with choice, help them! Drop hints like "hmm I'm beating your face in and you just spun a Manager Inteferes, might be useful" or "Your last 2 strikes went in so...."

The younger the kid, the more they want to hold on to or pick up the shiny cards. It takes awhile to break that habit.

QFT.  On a semi related note, I could never stop my wife from Simply the Besting away my "shiny" Pre-Match cards which didn't do anything after the Pre-Match.  "Well I dont know if you have some other "shiny" that is made better by having that other shiny in play."  And the moral of the story is that women and children are both easily distracted by shiny objects.

One deck I've always used to introduce new players to the game is Big Freak'N Machine.

His ability is easy to remember (after the first few turns is irrelevant) and gets them on the board so they can actually PLAY a game of Raw Deal.

On a similar note: APA is another good one, since they won't have to deal with choosing when to play actions, such as before or after a maneuver. Plus it's easy to get maneuvers out of Elbow range. (See above: Triple H's large handsize)

Better moral: let her play Vince McMahon and hit The Inmates Aren't Running My Asylum. Send away ALL the shinies!

APA can pack Antics, and those Antics are +1D, just like everything else they do.
