Is there actually anything you can do when someone opens a case against you because they didn't receive their item?

I sold some Heat Seekers and Home Team cards to a guy in Singapore (Hell, he could be on these forums for all I know Tongue) that were sent a few weeks ago and now I have a case against me as they haven't been received.

I have no proof of actual postage other than a receipt from my post office saying I posted 9 items (The other auctions that ended around the same time as the on in question) on the day I did.

It just seems that all liability falls on the sender and it simply comes down to any single person can get something sent to them unrecorded, claim they never got it and be guaranteed a full refund. One word against the other and I'm in a lose-lose situation. Sure, if the buyer doesn't receive the item, they deserve a refund, but out of my pocket is just annoying.

I would hardly risk my 100% feedback over cards that sold for less than $5. Everything else I posted that day arrived without a hitch.

Rant pretty much over  Tongue Anyone else had any bad experiences on eBay?

If a buyer on ebay files a claim against you, you have no recourse. Tracking, signature required, hand delivered with a video of the whole thing, NOTHING will save you.

You lose the item(s) you've sent, and eBay automatically gives the buyer the refund. No ifs, ands, or buts.

I have not sold on eBay in the last 7 years, and will continue to not sell on eBay because of this.

It's incredible frustrating I know.  The last time I sold, I had a problem with a buyer.  I called Ebay Customer service and asked what I should do.  The initial answer I got was "Make sure you have the buyer return the item before you refund any money".  Okay, I said, but what if for some reason the buyer refuses to send the item back?  The customer rep admitted that because of the buyer protection guarantee that the buyer would have to get a refund no matter what.  So I had no recourse, and technically the buyer could keep the item, even if he/she didn't want it or it was not what they had ordered.  Ridiculoul

You can't even leave negative feedback for buyers, even if they deserve it.  I understad that some sellers did use negative feedback as intimidation (the 1 and only negative I received on ebay was from a seller who didn't want to admit they had received a return even though I had a delivery confirmation number), but there needs to be a way to deal with customers who are up to no good.  I had a buyer a couple years ago who refused to return an item, but then ranted and raved about what an awful person I must be, cursing over and over, and going so far as attacking my family, and at the end of it, the worst I could do was not leave him feedback.

There is a thread with exactly the same concerns, you can head over and read it, or let everyone beat a dead horse and repeat their opinions on the matter.

In my situation, the negative was taken back 2 days later when the cards were received. Hopefully the same happens with you!

I sold my guitar on eBay last year and because it didn't arrive on the day eBay said it would the guy opened a case up against me, and when it arrived 2 days after the date eBay said it would he left me negative feedback!

To top it off, I got half the price that I wanted for it! The guy got an utter bargain, who cares if it's 2 days late?!
