-sighs-  And again, I'm forced to be confronted with the news that the world is a terrible place.

This is more 'rants' territory, but why are people suddenly posting this stuff?  Why do people feel we need reminders that terrible things happen in the world?  Aren't there news agencies that get paid millions of dollars to keep us informed of this crap?  lol

It's just personally frustrating that I AVOID the news of such horrible tragedies, and I come to TCO for more positive, fun interactions.. yet and still, this stuff shows up here, too.  -sighs-  Do not want!  lol  </rant>

Why?  If you had a good time, you had a good time.  Talk about that.  Don't let the darkness in the world ruin your light.

EDIT:  ...or to put it another way, if you don't enjoy The Dark Knight Rises because of this incident, the terrorists win.  No, really, think about it...

I gotta admit Creed - getting home and discovering this:

http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/wv4q2/someone_came_into_our_theater_at_the_midnight/

While I enjoyed the Dark Knight, it's the weakest of the three films, and while it's not a "bad" film, it leaves something to be desired.

Mix in a tragedy that will be linked with the movie for some time, and you get a degree of suckage.

Maybe because we're all tired because we didn't get home from the Move until 3am?

Could be.  I'm mildly concerned that I'm seeing it tomorrow at 11:30pm (and I'm not normally a real late-night person), so my tiredness might affect my enjoyment.

HOWEVER.

I absolutely refuse to let this #$%^&@#$ ruin my life, my enjoyment of the movie, etc... he's done enough damage already and IMO deserves no further attention than the what the media will already give him.

I think you'll enjoy it if you're tired, and you go in with lowered expectations. If you're a comic book fan, you'll appreciate a number of things that they do. As I say... it's not a bad movie. Just compared to the first two, it leaves something to be desired.

The perceived drop-off for Dark Knight Rises was inevitable especially considering how well the second movie sold and how great Ledger was as Joker. It's been hyped up too much just like the third installment of any good franchise: Return of the Jedi, Uncharted 3, etc.  But I'm still stoked and I can't wait for my 8:30 AM showing Saturday morning (only way I'll watch blockbuster movies the weekend it comes out, no one else is in the theatre).

But I definitely echo the sentiments shared in this thread, the person who did these horrible things need not be even acknowledged for the horrible atrocities he has performed and does deserve any more attention.

The only expectation I have is that Christopher Nolan is going to entertain the @#$%@#$% outta me.  Grin  Even if the movie was truly 'not that great', I'd still happily give my money over anyway.  He's earned it, and then some.  And I'll buy the DVD when it comes out, so my 'own all Nolan movies' collection stays intact, heh.

If I had any expectations, it wouldn't be based on The Dark Knight, it would be based on the Knightfall comic series... but I learned many years ago not to carry expectations of a movie based on the source material, the previous movie, the TV show, etc.

I agree in principle Creed. I come to TCO to enjoy the banter, read interesting RD discussion, and other thoughts by community members. Not to get more disturbing bad news brought up. (Especially since it is everywhere in the media right now)

Anyways, I do understand why it would be posted here, and it makes a certain kind of sense. Many of us consider TCO to be "our" community obviously, and when crazy stuff happens in the world we often look to the places we feel safe for discuss it/rant/etc.

As long as we don't get tons of threads about it, and keep discussion mostly confined here, I don't see a huge problem with it. Maybe we need a "current events" forum that we can turn off in our feed if we don't want to read it.

I'll post my feelings later if people are still interested in discussing this tragedy, but I need to think more first.
