Just got back and settled from Holmes, PA.  gamhhh runs a good tournament, for sure; we had a lot of fun and enjoyed ourselves immensely.  We had 9 people, and the winner of the tournament was Scott Mackie.  I played Yokozuna and went 2-2, missing the Top 4 cut on Strength of Schedule.  Beat gamhhh (Jerishow), lost to Scott (Road Warriors) and dilbert505 (The Colons).  Felt like the deck had enough oomph to compete if I could shake the rust off, shake some bad luck, and fix some pack mistakes.

The field AFAIR:

Road Warriors
HBK
Priceless
Sgt. Slaughter
Yokozuna
Jerishow
The Colons
Shane O' Mac
The Ultimate Survivor

Top cut was:

Top 4:
Steve LaFlamme (Priceless) d. Wesley (last name?  TCO Name?  Sgt. Slaughter)
Scott Mackie (Road Warriors) d. Mike Anstett (HBK)

Finals:
Scott Mackie (Road Warriors) d. Steve LaFlamme (Priceless)

Was good to meet the Holmes PA crew, including Queensryche as well as gamhhh and dilbert505 (and if I missed anyone, I'm sorry, I just don't know you by TCO board name).

I'll put a full report here from my perspective when I get a chance.

FYI, the guy playing The Ultimate Gorger...........I mean Survivor was Brian Blake, known on here as CharismaticZero.

(Don't mind me. I make Matt Hardy fat jokes constantly.)

It's getting late, but I can sum up most of these matches pretty quickly.

Round 1: BYE

Round 2: Scott (Road Warriors)
I play Flanked, a bunch of SNME cards that don't take slots, a reset button, and 3 total managers (Fuji, Jimmy, Blassie).  He plays BASH.  I draw a pocket of non-reversals: 9 cards with no red in sight.  I do mad hand customization to get some red in hand.  He searches for a No Sell with his Taunt Bash, I get a Don't Try with Jap Flag.  I go first due to Blassie popping in a World Title, so I pop Japanese Flag into Shoot Forearm.  He overturns, then Dirty's me, followed by Hawk's Neck Breaker, all of which stick.  I respond with Classic Double Clothesline only from Arsenal.  He responds with more Unique moves, I respond with attempted trickery and some attempts at moves.  Scott stayed away from Jimmy by hitting a ton of unique moves, which I never drew into red for. He pinned me with a Unique move, wasn't Doomsday though.

1-1

Round 3: dilbert505 (Colons)
I'm still trying to figure out where this match went wrong.  I had him pinned down at 8-10F, and I think I just couldn't find the kill cards I needed to finish off the Colons.  Eventually he makes his comeback, and I almost run him out of moves.  It comes down to two choices in the end...he Don't Try's Blassie to survive, when I suspect Move of Doom may have been the better play based on the hands.  Were I able to Move of DOom and get some red out of his hands, I could have popped Freddie or played either See How It Feels or Ready to Fight.  And thinking back on this...eff me, See How It Feels TB isn't Hybrid, so the Hold the Phone wouldn't stop it.  Which would have stopped him from playing the Carlito's Way DDT to finish me off.  ARGH!  Bad luck, bad decisions, and a well-played comeback from dilbert.

1-2

Round 4: gamhhh (Jerishow)
The way I played this match I think his own cards got the best of him.  I started out with the right red cards + some Boot Laces, and it didn't make life easy for Mike.  He pulled it back in, but he burned through all his midmatch early to do it, and I was able to outlast eating 28D of reversal damage (effing Breakdown...) on more bad decision making (Jerishow is one of those decks I shouldn't be throwing Strikes at when they have F).  In the end I chipped away at his Arsenal until I got him down to the end and hit Yokozuna's Leg Drop for the win.

2-2

In this design, when Yokozuna wins, he does so in very chop-chop-chop fashion, with the 1 move/turn restriction being an issue.  When he loses, it's usually because the opponent overcomes an early advantage to recover and mount his offensive.  There's some things that can be done to improve this design me thinks...but I'm not sure I'll be going to any more tournaments in the near future.  Decklist will have its own review thread momentarily.

Crap. I totally blanked on that; just saw the yellow and blue and threw it down. At this point, I can't remember if the reversals I threw were the only two I had or not, so I don't know if there was anything else I could have done at that point. Either way, it was a hell of a match, even though 9 times out of 10 I lose that game.

It was a great tournament, though, and I'm glad I had the chance to meet the Jersey crew. Hopefully we'll be able to get your group together with ours again sometime soon.

There was one other reversal in your hand at that point, but I don't remember what it was, maybe a Revo of the Mind.  But like I said, you played the second half of that game flawlessly and you put yourself in the dominant position despite my best efforts; you more than earned it.

I dare say I got my heat back with Alberto Del Rio though?  Smiley

Absolutely. Dos Siestas is going to be a beating for people in V5, and it was cool to see him in action.

I have no desire to discuss my failures with the Ultimate Survivor.

I have, however, rebuilt The Champ and my favorite Divas Brie & Nikki Bella.

I refuse to accept The Michael Cole Challenge.  You're Welcome.

What can I say? You took him to MattDonald's, and just Couldn't Feed Him Enough.  Grin

And I Quote, you will accept the Michael Cole Challenge. It's simply a matter of time before the Champ gets an earful from the Voice of the WWE. But thank you for your irrelevant opinion. [/TwistedBlendofMichaelColeandDamienSandow] [/MostOverHeelEver]

was a pretty fun day all around, got to meet some new people and all. Highlight was probably after HBK popped wrestlemania and recovered 22, he threw a punch after punch and because of the venue i was able to keep 2 cards in my hand cos i was behind, hit him with Calculated Attack + Cody's Flying Drop Kick for the pin

Keep an eye on the Tournament Announcements board.  If we're doing anything in the month of August (still in the formative stages of planning), we'll post there.

Felt good playing in a tournament again that didnt involve the same four people :p and in spite of the obnoxiously LOUD not Raw Deal players also in the store at the time.  Being we were in unfamiliar territory i suspected a lot of BLUE so I figured on volley to try and combat that theory, after going through about 5ish other superstars I settled on the one the only Shawn Michaels.  First up.

Round 1
Brian Blake aka Christian (The Ultimate Gorger er Survivor)
Decent fellow, took the Christian ribs well lol.  I search for bunch of stuff through the pre and get my hand big and The Ultimate Gorger cashes in his McyD coupons and bloats his hand larger than mine.  He gets his eats enough pre to wipe out 7 of the 11 i had in hand but manages to miss 3 of the 4 cards i searched for *Sweet Chin Music was already discarded* His ability knocks him down to 2 left after all that and no Best Laid Plains.  Sucker Punch goes through and responds with Put it all on the line then kicks me in the little jimmys.  Wary of Mattitude i just close my eyes and throw a volley move which he Mattitudes but instead of removing the Sucker Punch he removes Managed by Lita which makes sense what with their history and all  laugh after that a constant peppering of volley moves keeps his blue away from the ring and its all she wrote as a coldcock finishes him off.

1-0

Round 2
player playing Shane McMahon
He apparently forgot to pack Hometown Hero and doesnt get his Greenwich, CT which apparently ruins his prematch setup and its all down hill from there.  Flanked by Arena Security prevents Managed by Vince from removing my title.  Being Shane needs his blue to play his high risks he's forced to let the volley moves hit.  Sucker Punch all way through followed by a Thrust Knee Lift which gets the -3 from Blindside Takedown goes through and in frustration he scoops.

2-0

Round 3
Scott Mackie (Road Warriors)
I take the first 2 turns of the game which i ended up forgetting about but didnt cost me.  He elbows + no sells Sucker Punch putting him at 5.  He throws the 3 for 7+1d bash suplex which restricted use to elbow and revo of the mind.  He spams it with Road Warriors prematch which i respond with Backlash! (his 5f to my 3f at the spot)  and Ap Chaki Kick.  Coldcock and few other volleys go through and he plays Double Team Tb which I spinebustered and inside cradle'ed to get through all these years popped.  He walks into another 2 reversals which i think gets his mania popped but on his turn so after resolving I get to go.  Draw a Tune up the band which i search for and play HBK's Elbowdrop from the top rope.  Off the stun i draw Sweet Chin Music and some other random card and his next move gets a little Sweet Chin Music for the win

3-0

Round 4
Flamer (Priceless)
Sadly we've done this matchup 384938492 times during the weeks so he pretty much knows what to do.  he keeps himself behind me in fort so i cant turn the tides and he repeatedly removes shoot lockup with his ability to play another protected shoot lockup.  inbetween those he hits me with 3rd generation tb somewhere between 6-7 total times through the course of the match and 3 in 4 turns.

3-1

Playoffs
Knowing full well I am unable to make it to Gencon again I make like the real HBK and lose my smile and let the Road Warriors pass.

The deck was fun.  Went through a lot of changes as the extra 15 cards helped pack several extra pain reversals and Flanked kept my hand from being rewritten cept by TUS.  Take away the loud not Raw Deal people it was good times

Side note only got to playtest Scotty 2 Hotty against Crasher's Dolph.  Aka Christian least got to watch lol Scottie took Dolph to town Wink

Nope.  I did it for years.  Also, there were several very experienced players (one of which more direct access to myself for any rules questions) available to serve as 'additional judges'.

I'm sure if there were any issues, someone would have said something.  Since there weren't, I'm not a fan of creating drama instead of having fun playing cards.  Smiley

You'll want to look for "three judge system" in the floor rules, king. The gist is that as long as there's someone around to judge your match that isn't you or your opponent, you're good to go.

The only questionable call if I remember correctly was their ruling on "Cheat to Win".  As in our New Jersey understanding of the card, playing the necessary Cheater action, having it reversed and popping Cheat to Win to cancel out their played reversal made it successful.

That is the correct interpretation of the situation. The Bookkeeping Rule kicks on and the reversal effect that reversing the card generated never happens. You still responded, so you can't respond again, so the Cheater card is successful and the turn continues unless something else ends it.
