How does Mankind make it to top 16 at GENCON?

I'll tell you it isn't his abudance of good cards!  It's in the Deck building.  Since Mankind doesn't have much direct support, I have to get creative when building.  The theory behind every Mankind Deck I build is this:  I am going to get my Butt handed to me in the first 2 or 3 turns.  How do I make a comeback?

Well, Here is my top 16 deck from GENCON:

Jake Weires--Dubuque, IA
MANKIND—BASH, Cheater

Backstage Area:

Raw Deal 5th Anniversary
WWE Backstage Signature
WWE Backstage Signing Appearance

Backlash Deck:

1x Boston, Massachusetts
1x Bitter Rivals
1x Pay-Per-View Main Event
1x Duchess of Queensbury Rules
1x Managed by Paul Bearer
1x It’s All About the Game
1x Vince McMahon, Guest Ringside Announcer
1x Foley Is Good!
2x Not On My Broadcast (TB)

1x Sustained Damage
1x Restricted Use In This Area
1x Shoot Counter
1x The Road to Victory
1x <Revolution> Take It and Like It
1x To the Rescue
1x You Don’t Want to Go Where I’ve Been
1x Fully Loaded
2x BASH: Great American Style

Arsenal:

2x Shoot Forearm
2x Shoot Lock-up
1x <Revolution> Spinning Drop Kick
1x Tree of Woe
1x Dynamic Finisher
1x Mandible Claw
1x The Finisher
2x Sidewalk Slam (TB)
3x Back Body Drop (TB)
2x Claw

3x Over the Ropes
2x Between the Ropes
1x Gut Wrench
2x Mind Games
2x I’m Gonna Put You Through the Ring
1x Too Many Rules and Too Many Refs
1x Armageddon

3x The Return BASH for Scotty’s W-O-R-M
3x Elbow to the Face
3x A Revolution of the Mind
3x Get Back in the Ring
1x You Fight Like a Woman
1x Divine Intervention
3x The Coach Says, “Today’s the Day!”
2x Hold the Phone
1x The RAW DEAL Revolution
2x Get the “F” Out!
1x Have a Nice Day!
2x Once Again, Kissing Up to the Fans!
2x You Can’t Cheat an Honest Man…
2x No Chance In Hell (TB)
1x <Revolution> Inertia
2x …I Changed the Questions

There is tons of t3ch in this deck, and piper completely shuts me down.  Unfortunately, I had to face him twice at Gencon.

Too bad the Main Engine of this Deck has just been Gagged and Shot:

Back Body Drop (TB).

Can I play the deck without it?

Yes.

Can I still buid a solid Mankind Deck?

Yes.

Should I have to?

Absolutely Not, they fixed the wrong card...Check out the FAQ updated thread about "BALLS"

Dude, the fact that BBD (tb) removes itself is a bonus for a card like over the ropes. I tested this beast and it is totally wrong-olla! even when people know you have IIATG in there, you can still beat them really good, just takes more time.

I think most matches I was dominating so hard I totally forgot manking tkaes -1d on eveything.

COOLEST DECK EVER!  Grin

Thank you very much!

I'm glad you enjoyed it.  It's hard to tell how much A$$ this deck can kick when I'm testing it against Mitchel Friederick and Niki Heber.

It did beat that "Undefeated" Eugene Deck of Mitch's though...

Let me know if you want to see what I did to it for Revo 3.

At gencon, I hit "It's All About the Game" in Every game except for my match against Niki who was playing RVD.  I didn't think I'd be so lucky.

Sadly I don't think they did fix the wrong card. "Balls" still existed if they fixed Full Nelson Slam, believe it or not, that card just makes things much easier and it removes what they wanted it for... <Revo> Ortons ability, among other abilities in Revolution.

Balls in fact "still" exists, you just need to get to 10F now. If that makes you feel better.

Wouldnt 2 copies of wwe the power is back work? They might not stack or do they actually have to get to 5 fort in order to get this done nowadays?

Balls is not done by a longshot, and IMO all they would have had to do is put an eratta on Technical drop kick..... You cannot play the card titled technical drop kick for the rest of the turn... there you go, balls busted. Well IMO atleast.

I still stand behind making, heck why not...

Every Technical Maneuver can only be played once per turn.

At least the Dropkick and the Crab.

I think it is a much more appropriate fix.

How about making Both technical crab and tDK "As an action can only be played once per turn and cannot be played if you have played those cards already thus turn"

I know it kills technical decks but it kills balls. Balls was only slowed by the new rulings, not stopped any other opinions on the matter are a moot point. I think that was the goals of the eratta in the first place.

Killing BBD killed every setup deck, PERIOD. Killing technical decks would not really shed as many tears, again that is my opinion, but I think I am in the right.

I mean, Balls is dead. None of us are playing Balls, simple as that. You could, but its almost too hard to explain and/or play and Pat and Dom are already qualified, and I'm not really a combo player so I don't need that to battle I can live without

Balls is a nearly dead horse. Revo 3, however just made nearly the same combo only green, and its not nearly as hard to learn as original balls.

Same horse, different color

But in this case, the same horse is you, not the combo.

You wonder why this game is dying, we have people every set crying "combo."

That combo isn't even good, but it was worth commenting about wasn't it? That combo is easily beaten. Easily.

You don't want to lose to such decks? Build your deck to beat it. Its plenty possible

Wow, you don't know what cards I am talking about, yet you already know how to beat it. I serve only you, oh raw deal god, tell me how to beat oh ridiculous combo of doom I have described (or didnt for that matter) [/ sarcasm]

The game is dying because there is a loss of interest in wrestling, some bad storylines, and the game has been bastardized to the point to where you must have  bullets to bullets to bullets in order to succeed in this game, cards that are in VERY limited print, and not to mention the lack of professionalism in this game, by its staff and designers and/or the whole value arguement too, but I am not going there.

Please tell me what, oh what combo was described as broken in the last couple of sets other than balls? I really would like to know because as far as I have seen they never saw the light of day!

Yeah the answer to both of these decks is LWA but I don't happen to see that card being available in the Revo format. Ok maybe 3x talk is cheap in the rev format. Then again next round you will have to play some tommy dreamer with no antics and then half your backlash is junk isn't it?

The last two points I have to you is this. Kevin peters had a good point in saying "You can build that deck that kills combo but its all the other decks you have to beat in the meantime that represent a problem" You can beat the deck but the deck you build must also be competitive to the rest of the field too. There is the inherent problem.

Last point, just because RDE is no longer playing balls and you guys apparently got how balls worked does not mean we all don't know how it works too. Your not playing balls, but then again you guys aren't the only people that can come up with a combo too.

Now if we aren't playing Balls, then who cares? Everyone else will screw it up.

I know about You're Fired Playa - Ashleys Awesome Assets like everyone else does.

I'm not speculating, I'm telling, balls is not good anymore. Its not feasible.

Turns out building such a deck that beats every regular move deck and a combo deck does not exist.

Also turns out it should not exist, for game balance. Every deck has a bad matchup somewhere along the line.

You want combo nerfed so players don't quit? Is that it? If they are quitting because they can't beat a combo deck (that got so much hype it got fixed)? Were they really a player if they quit for a reason like that? They are paying attention at least!

Sure, CI may not run things up to snuff, but all I've seen anyone do is compare them to Wizards of the Coast. No CCG is going to be as successful as Wizards has been. This is not Magic: The Gathering. This game is far less funded than that. Deal with it.

ON TOPIC:
Personally I love the Mankind deck. Mankind was a natural obvious packer of IAATG, and you make it work so very well. Congrats on how well you did at GenCon with it, Jake.
