News: To help us better manage accounts created by Bots, we periodically purge accounts that appear to be created by bots.

Typically newer accounts that have 0 posts are usually identified as bots. In our most recent set of purges, any account that had 0 posts, and had no logged into the site in over a year was purged.

To avoid having your account purged, if you have no posted yet, take a couple of minutes to create a post and say hello and introduce yourself.

If we have accidentally deleted the account of an actual user, we apologize, feel free to sign up again.
Thanks for your understanding!

We, the Staff of TCO, do our best to provide a safe place for trading and buying and selling. In doing so we have to take steps to ensure the safety of our patrons. One such step was to make the Card Swap Thread and the new Sellers/Buyers Thread restricted Forums.
To get in, you must apply for access.

You can apply by posting your request here, however you must first have at least a 25 post count.
After a brief check, you will be given access to the forums. This may take 1-2 weeks before access is given, so please be patient. It also helps speed things up if your email is visible in your profile.
Simply post here. Once you have been checked out and verified, you will be given access and your post will be deleted. If your post is deleted and you still do not have access, this means your request has been denied.

Please do not repeatedly re-post asking for access once you've already been denied. DO NOT ASK WHY YOU WERE DENIED EITHER! The reasons are listed below. If you were denied, it is because of those listed reasons. Warnings will be issued if you continue to repost asking for access or asking why you were denied. It is all explained within this post.

Users who have been removed from the Card Swap and Sellers/Buyers Forum for scamming/ripping/violating the Rules and Regulations of the Forums will not be given access.
Users with links or suspected ties to the above Users will also not be given access.

I am not the only Administrator who updates this thread. DO NOT PM ME asking why you may have been denied access. I probably was NOT the person who denied you access. If you PM me it will be ignored.

Once you receive your access, it is recomended that you go over the Rules And Regulations Of TCO to ensure your stay here is trouble free.

Please note that some of you may returning after a long absence from using TCO, and may have previously had access to the trade area at some point in time on .ca
For the first 4 months of this site being active we transitioned all members who requested it. We had also given users a months notice prior to the transition that we were migrating to the new site.
Since TCO is provided to you for free, and unlike Ebay does not take a cut of any business you do, we ask that you give back to the site by contributing to the ongoing conversation on the site. We are sorry if this seems like a hassle, but it has a secondary benefit; it protects our active users from potential scammers who want to make a quick buck.  (You can find an example of one of those scammers here)

So even if you did have access and such on .ca, we are asking all of our users who want trade access to actively participate in the site prior to getting trade access.  Please note, post abuse rules still apply. Please actually post relevent posts. Someone who is simply spamming the site to get their 25 posts without actually adding anything to the site will likely have some or all of those posts deleted.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Question: Why Does TCO require 25 posts for Trade Access?

Answers:

1) Raw Deal has a history of scammers. - The scammers would come in offer too good to be true offers, and would rip off three or four users before we banned them. While at first we IP and email scanned people requesting access, there was still a consistant flood of scammers.

So far the scammers have found the 25 posts too much work to make it worth their while, especially with our rules governing post abuse. So I can happily say that we offer one of the safest trading experiences on the net.

2) Team Canada Online is provided to you for free. Team Canada Online is provided to you free of advertising. Team Canada offers hands down the best trading area for Raw Deal on the internet.

What originally created TCO is the sense of community it brings. It's an area where people discuss all manner of things. It's a place where even after people have left Raw Deal they still come to TCO for the conversations and friendships formed over the years.

If someone can just join the site, and post a trade list, and then bump the trade list every day, they add nothing to the site. Bump is not conversation. Bump doesn't draw people back.

By asking people to contribute at least 25 posts it gets them to start looking around. Seeing what happens on the forum, and finding something they find interesting. Now there is something else for them on TCO other then the trading. Additionally they have contributed something to the rest of the community.

We don't ask for any commission from the money you make selling cards.
We do however keep extensive trade reference documentation.

So what we ask in return is that you give a little to community that has so much to offer you.
